Also how much of a slap in the face would it be if it turns out that this whole series is nothing but one big dream and none of it actually happened? |

Edit: Had a thought. What if they pull an Akibaranger, and they imagine so hard that if they are just fighting in their minds that everything then becomes real? |

Can't remember if I weighed in on this yet. I thought that was a very fun first episode.
Now, I'm talking first-episode-of-Super-Megaforce fun here. Exciting action, interesting gimmick, yet very little hint of plot. I can already tell that's going to change in weeks to come though and I totally get where they're going with this... even though throwing in the big reveal in the last second was a little badly placed for me. Plus, the Shadow Line. Holy wow those designs. So, Wow. |

I agree the part about the footsoldiers and the villians being the best part of this show, which doesn't bode well for the show to be honest. I think the lack of foils on the team makes the entire Sentai team feel very monotonous and vanilla. I was already tired of the whole train theme by the end of the episode, and the constant choo choo sound was becoming annoying. Still gonna stick with the show unless it becomes unbearable like the Go-Busters. |

I thought it was a solid start, it introduced the gimmick, the conflict and the characters well enough, the shaodw line has great designs, the ToQgers have indentifiable personalities, action was solid but slightly confusing as the show pointed out, and I had some good laughs (Pink's weapon and the finisher in particular).
Hope it remains that way. |
Alright, after all the fuss and attention this show has gotten already, I think I should give the first episode a shot. So... is there a private playlist up on YouTube yet for it? (And if that has been linked already, my apologies, but 30 pages is a lot to search through.)

The fights gave me Gokaiger vibes but if switching powers mid fight can leave a team mate whom may not be use to the other person's weapon open and vulnerable, plus the conductor mentioned something about not switching powers so much on the fly like that…
I'm still trying to wonder what strategic use it has in battle other than keeping your opponents guessing. |

I would hope that they'll explain the exact purpose behind the color switching besides just swapping weapons, which they can do easily without changing colors. There must be something else that comes with it or it's all just a big waste of time. |
Kagura reminds me of R4.
Kajiba no Super Power! |
Well that was an interesting first episode. I want to say it set up the tone well but then that ending threw a screwball and knowing Kobayashi it may get a bit dark here and there. Either way I'm not getting off this train yet.

---- Well, I can say I at least tried an episode. And it's really just not for me. I have never, ever understood the obsession with trains... They've just never interested me and I can't see where the people really into them come from. :/ But I guess there's enough out there to warrant this show ha. (Heck, I've never even been on one.) Everyone in the Shadow Line still looks cool. But nothing about the ToQgers interested me at all... |

I think after one ep, this train gimmick is already played out for me. We will only be getting trains from now on with different functionality. To me that's not good enough to keep me interested for 40-50 eps. Unless the writers have something up his sleeves I'll going to be bored pretty fast with this show. |
I don't even have an obsession with trains like DaiRiderRX. John is a fiend for trains :lol
I just appreciate something out of the ordinary being used for a theme, and done very very well in my opinion. |

My goodness, the Shadow Line designs are amazing. I absolutely love them!
The episode was OK, it was fun, it was bubbly, I enjoyed it. I can't really make a decision about the whole season from the first episode though, but I can say I'll definitely be coming back for episode 2. I'm betting the "as good as dead" thing is something like they died from falling off the tree (as in Light's quick flashback) and their imaginations are keeping them alive. Also, the "Please wait behind the white line" scene was hilarious. |

I actually agree. For both the haters, and the lovers, I don't get you guys. There just wasn't enough to this opening episode to make a judgement on anything.
The mecha battle was extremely brief, they showed off the powers granted by even the shows conclusion was that it was a bit of a nightmare and all of our characters and plot were introduced in about a single sentence of the script. I had fun, but I'm kinda astounded by posts half a page long gushing or spitting vitriol in the shows direction, given that despite the fact we've watched a single episode, we know about as much as that time when we had a whole discussion thread around a photo of Gaim's back. |
Judging by some of the response I've seen elsewhere on the ol' internet (not here, allow me to state that clearly), I think some people hate the new show simply because it isn't Kyoryuger, like how some people always seem to hate an incoming Doctor.

Oh yeah. Forgot to mention that every time I heard them gush about imagination, all I could think of was South Park... so that didn't help. :lol
|
So wait, some complaints now are that all were getting are trains with different functionality?.....Isn't that every sentai series, just whatever their theme is?
|
Well, after watching the first episode, I don't know what to feel about it. Now I haven't read through the last 30+ pages of comments so forgive me if I am repeating something that has already been said.
I like everything about the fights (like everyone bumbling around, etc.), the transformation (seems like a more "traditional" henshin if that makes any sense) and the villains look pretty cool (except for the creepy daughter, lol). The helmets also are a lot more detailed than they seemed in the pictures and the suits and mecha are growing on me. Might end up getting the Changer and main Mecha at least. On the other hand, I can see how people can get tired of the constant "ichi-gou, ichi-gou" etc. everytime they henshin and switch, I don't particularily like the Conductor either and the emphasis on "IMAGINATION" is a little lame, haha (but I know its meant for children so I guess I can look past it). So I am split between liking this series and disliking it. Haha |
I watched the Imagination Station subs, does anyone know if Pink's homage to The Little Engine That Could is something done just by the group or is it part of the show?
