The Manga/Crystal Brooch would've been a pretty unique addition that I'd definitely get behind. I also am a bit "meh" on the Crystal Star, although I'm still getting it because I loved the previous two Proplica and I'm sure I'll enjoy this one.
I was kinda hoping the poll choices were just hypothetical and they'd get through the weapons first before doing Brooches. Maybe the Spiral Heart Rod isn't feasible because it's a 1:1 line and that thing was gigantic, which would be disappointing if I'm right. |

After watching today episode of crystal I have a feeling they are combining bother elements of the anime and the manga in to one for crystal. With them cutting out the filler and using the words that are in the manga but keeping elements like four earth Knights alive for the finale. Now if they do R next I hope they construct it with more anime flow of telling but keeping it true to the mang as well.

Crystal "Season 2" announced:
Attachment 25003 Its being called "Season 2" but really its the second half of the already announced episode run, rather then a new set of episodes. A bit of a shame, imo. This crushes any hope I had that they were going to drastically alter the last half of the Dark Kingdom in order to do their own thing. |

So far I'm enjoying the show pretty well. The character designs aren't as hard to get used to as I thought they'd be.

The real test is if they can make R actually not be a worthless arc. But hey, if not, it will only be 12 episodes. |
I agree that they've been improving on the manga, but not nearly enough. Having shocking continuity errors 20 years later is just... Ugh.
Anyway, important read and images for those considering the Sailor Moon "Re-Mastered" Blu-Rays: Quote:

Now that said I wish I know they bad way to do it but couldn't they do what funimation did with dragon ball would been better

This is the best the show has and will ever look. |

These BDs are nowhere near "the best the show will ever look". If you're happy with them then all power to you, but its an undisputed fact that they suffer from pretty massive flaws. |

No, just no. Speaking of which, my set came in today and it is gorgeous. The booklet is amazing with excellent pieces of artwork, a synopsis and image from every episode, the entire English cast list, the songs in English, Kanji, and Romanji. |

2009 masters? ADV's DVDs came out in 2003.
I have no idea what ghosting is though. |

Had the Sailor Moon Blu Rays been available to me here in Australia I'd have bought them even with the problems. But when I have to import the Blu Rays, thereby paying about $70-80 per 23 episodes, having two screenshots, one of an old DVD and one of a "Re-Mastered" Blu Ray side by side and thinking the DVD looks heaps better becomes a much bigger deal.
My biggest sadness though is that these reviews came out after I bought a region-free Blu-Ray player and a bunch of US Blu-Rays. I had mostly bought it just to watch Sailor Moon... |

I've also noticed the stranger look of the viz master when the first preview clips were posted and I don't really get why they'd think it looked good. It seemed rather blurry movement-wise and the colors are kinda hard to look at. Honestly, I don't care that much for the old anime, but I'd prefer our 90s TV master over that. But at least you get a new, improved dub, so viz has done at least one thing right. |

Got excited when someone said that they cut Serenity's suicide in Crystal.
Realized they were talking about the Original Anime and not Crystal... Crushing sadness. |
Why? The suicide is what defined her character back then. Her lover died, she kills herself ala Romeo and Juliet.
I am loving what Crystal is doing with Kunzite and gang though. |
Hey, good news. Viz Media has released several more sneak peek clips of their dub of Sailor Moon on their YouTube account which includes the new voices for Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus. Also, they announced that the release date for Season One Part Two will be at February 10th, 2015 and the pre-orders for it are already up.

"My boyfriend died so I kill myself, even though it leads to the destruction of my planet". Just awful. |

The fact that nobody ever mentions the world-dooming suicide attempt ever again (while simultaneously everyone, villains and heroes included, talk about how selfless and perfect Serenity is) is evidence of the sloppy writing Naoko considered "romantic". Crystal is really plugging that they'll make the future "different from the past" and that "Usagi is Usagi, regardless of her past life" similar to how PGSM did, so I really hope the second suicide is changed, but I'm still not hopeful. I HATE that the only reason the world wasn't destroyed was because the Crystal kept a suicidal Usagi alive, rather then the world actually being saved because Sailor Moon is even slightly heroic. That's one of the many things that shows that the original anime's characterization was so much better then manga's. Compare the two Dark Kingdom finales. In one, Usagi watches as each of her friends are slaughtered one by one protecting her until eventually she is forced to kill a brainwashed Mamoru herself. Instead of curling in a ball and giving up, she stands up and fights and using her own power saves the world from Metalia, even though it takes absolutely everything she has. In the manga, Mamoru is similarly killed during the climactic battle with Metalia, but instead of standing strong and saving the world she stabs herself in the stomach while her (all still living) friends who have given up everything to protect her howl and beg for her not to. She only defeats Metalia because the Crystal resurrects her and Mamoru's dead bodies so that they can use their powers together. It's just... Nope. I could never forgive Usagi for that and for the rest of the manga I just rolled my eyes and sighed every time another character told us how Serenity was perfect and selfless and strong and yadayada, which was all the time. |
It's never mentioned again because Usagi not growing up as a princess made her a better person. She is still selfish, but she cares about her friends and family, which she clearly did not before. Usagi also matures as the story goes on.

More good news. The new dubbed episodes, at least episodes 24 through 36 anyway, are now available to watch on Hulu. Awesome. Keep it up, Viz Media! :D

DOES ANYONE.... HEre know if Vizmedia license Sailor Moon Crystal and has any plans to release them state side on blu-ray?

I hate to say it, but I thought today's episode of Crystal was awful. The animation was choppy to the point where sometimes it looked like it was stuttering, the pacing was bad, it felt rushed, and it made very little sense.
