Really digging the suits and the mecha. What I do not dig is the unileg on the toy. Like the retro style feel. Hopefully they don't drop the ball like what they did in ninningers toy line.

For the people who don't like the suit designs, just hope we get an actual team power-up that makes the designs even better. I'm just sick and tired of having Red only or take turns power-ups. |
Wow that Megazord looks utterly awful.
Guess they just dropped the pretense and just made it all squares for real this time. Quote:

Okay, I love these. Awesome indeed. Sure, lego block mecha isn't the best, but the design is just, cool. More utilitarian. Also blue shark and green elephant? Toei likes Jungle Fury...cool.

This mecha may be pretty interesting, functionally, as I'm guessing that there are a number of possible combinations. I wonder what stacking 321 or 231 would look like. |

I sure hope not though. It's a cool idea, but for a pricey DX release I want to be the one to move the parts around. Y'know, get an experience out of the hefty price tag. |

Okay, I don't like the mech design...like at all. It looks good as a toy, but I don't really want to see that thing stomping around a city battling giant monsters.
I LOVE the suit designs though. I've been waiting for a simple design for a long time, and this is it. I definitely need to do a cosplay of these suits. Just gotta make the helmet, cut up a morph suit, and draw the design on it. Yes. |
Hmmm I like the helmets not sure about the rest of the suit. I think I need to see it in action on screen first. Am I the only hoping they use 8Bit music for the show?
|
Maybe the JRPG episode of Ninninger inspired them to go this route?
|
Interesting. The suits kinda make me think of those weird t-shirts where the entire front is the face of an animal. The mecha is rather... uninspirring... but looks like it'll be pretty easy to build in Minecraft, lol...

The suit designs are officially my favorite Sentai suits without a doubt. They are beautiful and especially the helmets. The mecha are the worst though. They are horrible. They are the reason why I'm not fully excited for Jyuuoger. And where's JyuohGorrilla? I thought he was part of the main team?
|
Wow, I can't believe that thing is the 40th anniversary toy. One big ugly solid block with stubby arms. How far we've fallen from Daibouken in ten years time. I'm sure in the it'll look good in the show itself but in toy form its a huge step backwards. The rangers themselves look interesting can't wait to see more of them.

Not a fan of the bland suit designs, but I do dig the helmets. I think I'm liking the mecha. The combined form has me intrigued, but the cube transformation gimmick is what will push me over the top is done well, as with Shinken-oh.
|
Ugh...
Suits look ugly in that picture. The mecha look like it came out of Minecraft. There we go, 2019: Power Rangers Minecraft Force. |

Pretty mixed feelings overall. I love the helmets, easily my favorite helmet design in quite a while. The suits though, I don't know. Switchblade said it best a number of posts ago, they look like something you'd see in a zoo gift shop. I'll wait to see better pictures though before I judge it entirely.
But man, I think that mecha looks awful. I like the idea of a modular cube-based mecha, but I was hoping for something more imaginative and interesting than literally just a stack of blocks. Maybe when more are released it'll end up being cool, but I'm not getting my hopes up for it. |
Pretty ugly and lazy mech design. Its just one big block for the body and a big block making up the entire arm. The arms look too short. The legs don't even separate and it looks like JuohKing doesn't have any feet. It looks so basic.
Suit designs are alright, but I've seen better. I'm not a fan of the suit and mech designs post Kyoryuger. I'm guessing a new guy replaced the guy that did the designs for Kyoryuger and past series, that's why the designs of the past three sentai have been so dissapointing. |
I was going to wait for everything to come to light, but here are my thoughts on what we have so far.
The Suits: I really love these! They are minimal, but the overall look has really impressed me. These are by far the best looking animal based helmets I have personally seen. Knocked Liveman down a peg for sure. The photorealistic animals on the chest aren't ideal, but I have a theory as to why PLEX went that route that I'll discuss later. The jagged cut on the gloves also do a lot to the look as well. The Mecha: A love letter to the old school, and I gotta say I'm feeling the love. Lots of folks were quick to draw comparisons to Minecraft, but I see more of the digital pet/Tamagatchi influence here. 8-bit companions that spring to life to fight (this is part of my theory as well). I'm a fan of the blocks because they add another level of play like the Origami did in Shinkenger. I do hope that they combine amongst each other in different ways, and continue the block gimmick throughout. Something Shinkenger did not do with the Origami. If I have one complaint it's the uni-leg for JyuohKing. It would look a lot better if the legs were split apart, but if the components can swap places I'll forgive it. I can't see why else the legs would be fused together. These are very charming, and the way the cubes fold out into different animals seem very creative. I dig these. My Theory: I think the aesthetic choices made this time around were to honor both the organic and technical side of sentai animals past. In show, I think the senshi have the real animal spirits inside of them (hence the photorealistic animals on the chest) and in order to utilize those spirits in the real world they upload them into these digital pets. I'm guessing by using that phone changer we've read about. Can't wait to see what else comes out over the next few days. Color me excited! |

Clearer scan has popped up.

Does the shark seriously just have those yellow bits for the """"knees"""" (all the scare quotes) stuck on it? That's kind of really dumb.

Looks like someone's theory about the auto-transforming gimmick ended up being true. |

This series has an immense amount of potential with the mechs and I am terrified they're going to mess it up.
Why is this? Customization. Or to be specific, hopefully they'll be capable of mixing and matching. How will all the cubes connect in the end? Stacks of 3? Of 4? 5? Can cubes branch to the side? Can the order be rearranged? What can we do with them beyond what they've shown?! In other news, I really hope we get glimpses of the mini-pla for them. Considering how ergonomic the robots are, I'm praying the kits turn out good. |
