Their subs for that episode were shockingly good. I still prefer OT's take, but Abaranger looks like it's in good hands. |
This might sound weird but how safe is the TV-Nihon site to get subs from never really gone to sub site before and worried about viruses and adware, also which is more accurate Overtime or TV-Nihon for their subs?
|

As for accuracy, I don't know. |

TV Nihon's don't make sense unless you know a bunch of Japanese. Even then, the translations are clunky and often nonsense. But they'll do in a pinch. |

Thanks for the suggestions might go for the KRDL, mostly concerned with gokaiger and the newer stuff. Also thanks for the heads up on DDL sites always anxiety + downloads = nightmare for me.

TVN's scripts tend to be as literal as possible, often translating things word for word, even when the dialogue doesn't really fit English grammar. They also tend to leave several words untranslated when there's no easy English equivalent (and sometimes when there is). Some of their earlier shows do have some known translation issues. Over-Time tends more towards localized translations, which are not 100% word-for-word, but tend to adhere more to the original intent of the dialogue, only in English. |
Personally I fucking hate TVNs encodes in general. They use horrible file containers and do god knows what to the video so it always looks like shit. And for your trouble you get a half finished translation, where even the English portions are bound by Japanese grammar so it really never makes sense or reads right.
OT rips are perfect for me, the video quality is always great and although some people like the preservation of Japanese terminology and stuff I honestly couldn't care less. I'd rather just know what the characters are saying. So I'm happy for OT to take creative liberties and turn over every stone to make it work fully in English, it isn't like they ever fully make dialogue up or change anything, but sometimes when there isn't a literal translation for a name or something they do the best equivalent which I'm fine with. But some people act like stuff like that is sacred. Only prop to TVN is OT cast a pretty small net. If you're looking for an older show, or something outside of the big three (including GARO) then you're flat out of luck with OT. TVN have translated almost a little of everything at one point or another. |
You guys are forgetting the best thing about TVN: fancy text graphics!
Yes I'm kidding. |
One last dumb question for the KRDL downloads will i need to download a program to properly view the files and are they all on one? Sorry for asking so many questions and I do appreciate the replies to them.

Ah okay I wasn't sure the videos also needed separate file for the subs and a player designed to use both.
|
Oh, gotcha. No, all the videos on KRDL are hard-subbed. No .srt file necessary.
|
It actually depends on the file, some are hard subbed but just as many are soft subs on krdl. Mkv' s tend to be soft, mp4's and Avi's are hard
|
I'd always understood it to be a file was hard subbed if it didn't require an additional subtitle file. Well, hard or soft subbed, the point still stands that you don't need to download any additional subtitle files for videos grabbed from KRDL.

Hard Subs are a part of the video. Anytime you watch the video, the subs are automatically there, and you can't remove them.
Soft subs are seperate from the video. you can turn soft subs off or on when you watch a video. they are not neccasarily a separate file. They can be a separate file that your video player can access or included with the video eg MKV or OGM container files Soft subs are essentially just the raws with the subs as a separate track that can be accesed as you want |
GUIS has Bioman is now up to episode 36. Can't wait to see it.
|
Has anyone done a better job with Abaranger now? I remember enjoying it right up until the good subbing team dropped out and were replaced with someone with little command of either language. I could hardly follow it.
And yet I hear all these great things about the show itself. To be fair I did love every minute of what I saw, so I'd like to continue... but only if I don't have to re-translate everything. I don't want work, I want fun. |
Nope, AbaRanger gets no love. But then, neither does GoGoV.

So, this MillionFold Curiosity, they're the guys from groups like MegaAnon and GUIS? Good quality subs? Just curious (no pun intended).

But like I said, we're WAY past that, so the only thing left to do is wait for release. At least you guys will have weekly Abaranger. ^-^ |

Are the Abaranger subs consistently awful as they are when the switch happens or does it fluctuate? I might be able to push through it otherwise... EDIT: Never mind, I just read back through the thread and realized someone picked up the project. Now I just have to wait until episode 10 ;) haha |

But like I said, we only were doing Toqger because at the time, Over-Time didn't state whether they were doing it or not. So, when they did, it seemed sort of redundant for us to keep going with it, only because our styles are (and I use this very loosely) somewhat similar, so there'd be no point. Besides, that opened us up to doing another project, like Abaranger. XD |

Thank you so much. |
Yeah I've been jonsing for more Aba ever since Dekaranger VS Abaranger was subbed ages ago. This delights me immensely.

KONANACHIWAAAA, Bikkun of Imagination Station here~.
Mostly registering to say thanks for people here actually watching our subs. @@ There's been a nasty rash of people taking /m/ trolls at face value and just parroting them mindlessly. That said, we also take constructive criticism so if anyone has an issue with our translation, feel free to speak up! We'll be glad to take a look and do a v2 if we deem it necessary! |

Even if your just posting updates of your group sub projects, we more than welcome your interaction with the community. Thanks so much for finally showing Abaranger some proper love! |
So are the subs up for SHT from last week.
