I do admit that that figure line does make me doubt the validity of this list a little -- because you'd think that we'd see figures for the Secondary and Revice's first upgrade around the time their DX toys debut. I'd like to have a bit of confirmation on this list; is it from someone who previously got stuff right?
|
The only justification I can think of is that our secondary doesn't get a buddy until January(or has another gimmick entirely) and they don't want to sell a figure of the secondary alone. I could imagine this is the case if our secondary has his own driver.
Doesn't really explain why we wouldn't get a figure of our primary's first quarter upgrade on or before its debut, though. That's always been how it's handled - even in RKF. |

Forgot to say. Half the list was leaked to /m/ via image from a SEA Facebook store. Same store I think put up advance orders for the life-sized Seiken which later happened. So.. 50/50? https://www.facebook.com/gfm.surabaya |
Okay, interesting. That does give it a lot more credibility
|
It was confirmed earlier today actually. That image came out yesterday.

I already love what I hear. Less Riders is something I kind of missed, not that I don't love a slew of cool Riders or anything like that, but it's refreshing to see after a while.
I think the buddies might actually be the series' forms at this point. Let's think about it: The buddy Rider has been shown in two different looks, the most recent being a dinosaur hoodie and scarf, leading me to think it's possible Revice will be wearing stuff like those for his forms. Either that, or it's going to be Kamen Rider Pokemon, where the buddies are just sent out to attack the villains. |

can't wait for the second half to just have a TON of new riders appear
|
I wonder if the Riders are going to be more sporadic and less because they'll serve as antagonists? Considering the rumors that they use Kaijin-inspired forms.
|
I kinda wish that Revice will be the cool, used to it kinda rider. Don’t get me wrong, I do like a good zero to hero story (Saber for example) but once in a while it would be great to have a main rider who is already a pro in being a rider and isn’t a first-timer rider (Build for example). This is just me though.

I'm hoping that Revice's character will be kind of wild? I feel it has to be on some level with a design that looks like that, and it'd be a nice change from the type of protagonist we've had lately
|
Maybe not experienced, but a very animalistic and instinctive type of guy who does things without thinking.

I'd love for Revice to be just slightly scary, like someone who's still firmly on the side of good but enjoys fighting a bit too much.
|
I would also like to see the protagonist have a passion for fighting similar to Momotaros, maybe with an accompanying sense of honor like a samurai or viking to remind people that he is a hero.
|
I want Revice to be Jean from Kuuga.

Suddenly have a urge to wish that Revice's ride isn't a motorcycle, but a MONSTER TRUCK!
|
I just want a main protagonist that doesn't fit neatly into the "I want to heal everyone's smiles" kind of archetype.
Someone who's still definitely a good guy, but can be a bit aloof or a jerk or even a little selfish. Kinda like Tendou, Takumi or even Sento (at times). With the dinosaur theme, I could imagine a strong warrior kind of character who's a bit boisterous and cocky. |
Something that came to mind today.
I hope Akira Kushida is involved in the songs somehow. Considering he did lent his voice to OOO and Kyoryuger, it would be sad if he didn’t get involved in Revice as well. |
Maybe it's because I've been watching it recently, but I'm realising that Revice's toyline is very similar to Ghost's; at least for the first quarter we know of? The secondary not debuting until about ~10 episodes in with absolutely no other Riders until after Christmas; a single weapon for the main Rider; the first upgrade debuting at the end of the year; and a fair handful of auxiliary forms prior to that.
Like... I kinda need to underline this here, every toyline after Ghost has had more toys in the first quarter in some way -- the most comparable are Ex-Aid and Build; but Ex-Aid had more Riders which get a lot more marketing to them compared to alternate forms like Musashi and Benkei, while Build had non-rider Henshin devices and a bunch more fullbottles and weapons. Revice actually seems to have LESS merch to sell here than Ghost; since there doesn't seem to be a secondary-exclusive weapon nor a big mech thing. This is potentially balanced out by the gimmick items seemingly costing more than before, but this is a dramatic decrease in direct DX toy merch to sell compared to even the mid-2010s. It means I'm a lot more excited for the show, but I really gotta wonder what's happened here to prompt it? |
yeah i dunno. all in all seems like a really slow start in terms of toys. considering toys tend to slow down by the third quarter it's kinda unsettling. whatever the case, they're very proud of the fact they can make kamen rider so different every year, and to be honest, that's my favorite part about this franchise.
a lot of key components and usual suspects are just not here. perhaps they just aren't listed for whatever reason. i'm holding my breath because this doesn't really make sense. i do hope this is a sign of the formula for this series though. looking back, i REALLY enjoyed the shows with fewer riders. fourze, drive and ghost really stand out for me. imo 3 main riders and MAYBE a villain rider is just right. maybe we'll see a bigger cast of non-riders be able to shine again, too. let kamen rider be a special title again since it's the 50th anniversary after all. |
Maybe because they're splurging with Zenkaiger? After all, we don't know the details on the anniversary elements for Revice, except for what we're assuming his other forms reference. Either that, or it's to balance things out after Zero-One and Saber bombarded everyone with items and devices.

Boiled down, we've got 2 belts (with figures confirming only one user each), 9 auxiliary form items (if they even all get used for forms), 2 weapons, 1 phone bike, 1 storage item, 1 upgrade. When I took another look at the list again this is actually a little beyond what seasons like Ghost and Drive had, but it's still a lot less stuff than what we've got recently given Reiwa's insane deluge of henshin devices. All this despite Kamen Rider as a toy franchise only doing better and better in the sales department... |
This might be an overly optimistic theory, but maybe the reason there's less merch is because Kamen Rider is selling so well, and Toei is confident they can cut back on how many different products they're pushing and still make a good profit? Fewer different items might also mean lower manufacturing costs.
|
Or maybe Toei kind of realized how insane Bandai was in wanting to sell so much stuff in the first quarter that they want to spread stuff out more evenly again? Or Bandai realizing this sort of sale didn't really help decided "We'll put out less items and increase them on price"
Cause I don't think we're getting Gashapon versions of the stamps right? |

Revice and kyoryudai
|
Oh, wow; Kyoryu has REALLY got some bug eyes on him! Between that and how he’s an ally I wonder if there’s something going on here with blurring the line between kaijin and rider…

I'm REALLY curious how he works. |
I find it interesting how much of those hooded pieces have stitch marks on them.
Like that's a cool design choice if I've ever seen one. |

My "theory" is that he stitches his own outfits to match his buddy. And then they'll just maybe get summoned by Revice's belt.
|
Looking at the kyoryudai mantle and the mirrored trex logo in his chest, my wild guess is, the one one superhero senki is his default form, and the mantled one is his form that resonate with revice form.
|
Again, I don't plan on watching the show for now due to toku burnout but my GOODNESS I'm loving Kyoryudai's look!
So how does this work anyway? Are they the same person or different people? Also, a bit mad that Kyoryudai's arm is blocking Revice's Driver. I mean, we already know what it looks like but I really want to see the full suit. This has to be intentional! |
Quote:
-Kyoryudai is a rider otaku -Kyoryudai is Revice's handmade suit turned to life -It's a reverse Double situation where the belt makes two people instead of two people merging into one. Revice being the MC, summoning Kyoryudai with him - |
