Same here. I don't think MegaBlaziken is trying too hard, I quite like it. Not as much as normal Blaziken, but I still like it.

So their reaction to Speed Boost Blaziken being banned or being too OP was to make it more powerful?

I guess there must be some stat drawback in there somewhere to make it less OP, but it hasn't been revealed yet.

Giant black splotches, a giant spike on it's forehead, it's hair spiked upwards, and ropes of flame on it's arms. I can't stand the thing.

Stealth Rock is still a thing. No worries.

So is Rapid Spin. Stealth Rock is not the be-all-end-all of Pokemon choices. Being smart about your team is how you overcome such entry hazards. A Whimiscott or Froslass with Taunt is going to mess up set-ups. Forretress, Armaldo and so on will take care of Spikes and Stealth Rock with Rapid Spin.

Its that kind of gaming mentality that just takes the fun out of everything which is we we see so many Akumas/Ryus in Street Fighter tourneys and ChrisG's Morrigan special in Marvel 3. But hey, it was a Gen that took EVO this year and not many expected that (We love you Xian, Singapore represent!).

Besides, maybe they nerfed Stealth Rock, or removed it permanently. Who knows.

There was a Nintendo Direct, something on the WiiU for Nintendo to announce random things (Like an E3 yearround), and they announced the new Pokemon Battle game is coming to the US.

Having a counter doesn't invalidate the power of a strategy.

There's a reason why 3 of the top 8 played Akuma in SSF4 and why everyone was assuming Akuma would win.
There's a reason why Chris G was being called a shoe in to win Marvel.
Yes, expectations were inverted and neither won. It doesn't change their prominence in the community at large.

A strategy is only viable when your opponent has no definitive answer to your approach and if the said opponent reacts as anticipated.

I'm not knocking Stealth Rock but I have seen players use Pokemon dismissed as Stealth Rock fodder dominate Wi-Fi play. Even Charizard who is Smogon's fave whipping boy for the Stealth Rock excuse has seen impressive sweeps when played right, taking out 2 or 3 Pokemon before running into a bulky Water-type wall.
