Anyway I disagree. Zeo and In Space seemed to have all their details worked out pretty fine. Turbo wasn't awful in that regard either once they'd kicked the old team off. |

Space actually worked very well, footagewise, because Megaranger is almost like a space series in itself but it was more the fact that the acting still sucked by that point that let the show down. |

And Space is still the best because it had a threatening villain, a complex storyline between Andros, Darkonda, and Astronema, the rangers went to alien worlds, it brought back all of the villains from past seasons, and it was a conclusion for the entire series up to that point. |
So, I'm finally done with Dragon Knight. Judging by the way people talk about it I would call it an EXTREMELY underrated series. It's very good and perhaps the best adaptation I've seen in terms of originality and new footage, but still not perfect.
The Good: - Kit and Len grew really well as characters as the series progressed. - Xaviax was a brilliant villain - The way some cameo-level characters in Ryuki were suddenly catapulted to "main" character status. I'll undoubtedly be buying a Kamen Rider Femme Figuart, but it sure won't be for Miho. - The fact Maya and Trent actually had purposes, even if Maya becoming Siren ended up being really pointless. - The fact they brought all 13 Riders together for the end. Made me want a full set of figures more than any moment in Ryuki did. The bad: - 3 clip shows is way too much. The last episode is a clip show? No wonder your show got cancelled before it ended. - The way the show suddenly shifts focus from Kit to Adam for the last few episodes. I just spent 34 episodes with Kit, I don't care about this other guy even if he looks exactly the same. - Xaviax's destruction was a little...anticlimactic? - Kamen Rider Onyx having NO proper explanation whatsoever. Seriously, this new deck is suddenly pulled out of thin air and no one even questions it or names it until the final episode. - Too many of the "villain" Riders were the same sort of spineless lackies. Axe was really good when Spear was vented, but Strike, Incisor, Spear and Torque left a lot to be desired. So yes, flawed but otherwise excellent show. I'll certainly join the campaign defending it from now on. |

Different intro. Different cast. Different costumes. Separate DVD release. Separately listed title on Netflix. It's as much a part of MMPR S3 as In Space is part of Turbo. |
Beast is right, Mighty Morphin' Alien Rangers is considered to be a 10 episode miniseries bridging the gap between Season 3 and Zeo. Saban treated it as such and so did Fox when they aired it.
I still think that MMAR was done a "proof of concept" for Saban, demonstrating that they could change the name of the show, and the suits the heroes wore, and retain viewers. They had already done that with the meka, so this took it one step further. |
Depends on where you look. The MMPR DVD boxset classes it as three seasons, while the Zeo - Lost Galaxy boxset has "season 4 to 7" which makes Alien Rangers part of season three.
That's how I've always taken it (plus it wasn't really treated all that separately when it aired in the UK), but I guess it swings either way. |
