Kabuto Renewal has arrived. I'm still not exactly sure why Bandai put all of this extra effort into this dude's packaging and stuff, but he is a solid figure. Better than the previous one and looks great next to the others. Now they just need to redo Kuuga and Agito (oh, and if they must, Decade).

If what's being said is true, I hope this isn't the future of Figuarts as far as hands. I don't like them copying the Figma style of hands, I'm just getting used to the ball style hands. Hope this only applies to renewals and not the line as a whole.

Well, the Gaim riders will use the new hands and I think Hibuki will, too.

I have to say, after getting Kabuto, I like the new hands better, but I feel like they are more fragile.

You only need to have one wrist peg break to be happy they are going in this direction. I remember d-arts Terry used them.

I have to ask if you actually own Kabuto 2.0. The wrists are not an improvement as far as fragility at all. I've never had an issue with the old Figuarts wrists. They came apart just fine, and as long as you didn't hamhand it, they came off fine.

The new ones have pegs that are almost as thin as 0.9mm pencil lead. That would be fine itself if they slid in and out smoothly like what they are trying to emulate, Figma wrists. But they don't. They stick in the joint, and are worse than the original ones, because I guarantee if someone already hasn't done it, there will be many people yanking the wrists out just as roughly as they do with the original style, and tearing the pegs out of the hands.

If you want to make a case that the Figma-style hands go in a 90 degree angle better, that's fine, but they are definitely not less fragile.

I don't have the Kabuto yet, but as I stated, the Terry I have does use that system. I did have my Ultra Act Gridman break his peg, and pretty much rendered that arm useless. Kyoryuger Red has some of the scariest pegs that are begging to snap it seems...at least with the peg in the hands if they break you can still use the other hands as opposed to losing the whole arm. It's not like Bandai sells replacement wrist pegs.

And what happens if the wrist peg breaks inside the hole?

you can use a small bit to drill it out. I am in the furniture sales industry, and sometimes have pegs get broken off for wooden furniture. Basically the same type of bit modelers use to drill in holes for flags and such.

Ahh, poo. Guess I'll have to adjust to it to even get into Gaim. Still not convinced, but see the point.

I owned Terry Bogard and he doesn't use the same wrists at all. It may LOOK similar, but Terry's are much thicker and swap much more easily.

Kabuto are literally Figma, except they stick in the joint, which makes them much MUCH worse.

Trust me dude, the wrists are literally the worst thing they have done to Figuarts ever.

Absolutely GORGEOUS figure and unlike many other Ryuki ones I have, the joints aren't too tight but not so loose to the point where he can't hold his poses.

Kind of shocked that Knight was never reissued.

Really dig Imperer's suit design and I think it translated really well to Figuarts form. I can easily see him increasing greatly in price in the aftermarket the way of Gai because as little of an impression Jun made, Mitsuru made even less of one. The only Ryuki ones left for me now are Alternative, Ryuki Survive and Magnugiga.

I'll still be glad to have one on my shelf but I have to say I think that figure looks awful. It's actually a lot more show accurate than I could have ever dreaded but where as AC Mango made it look like the Rider was encased in a kinder egg, AC Triumphant looks like a gong with a comedy sized apron and a hiking backpack attached. It just looks a total mess. I actually do like the AC line, but I can't deny that as more and more figuarts versions are released my AC collection really is starting to look its station.

No comment of your photography though, which is solid as ever.
