I am already on my break, after I've played Smash Ultimate for 150 Hours or more
|
|
Never thought this would ever happen in a million years. I guess we are now one step closer to having Halo and Gears of War on a Nintendo console next.

I finished Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice today. Well, I could’ve finished it two weeks ago but the final boss was beating my ass so badly I stopped playing for a bit :lol
But I did it today, and I love this game. It’s not quite as amazing as Bloodborne IMO but it doesn’t need to be, it's so different from the "usual" From Software games that it can stand on its own. What I loved most about it was how satisfying the combat was, in tandem with the fantastic world you explore and the strange characters you meet. Plus, I was low-key afraid Sekiro would be too easy since I finished Dark Souls I-III plus Bloodborne - nope. This game was harder than all of them. At least for me. But the more you play it, the better you get. It was kinda crazy how I had a hard time against one particular boss, and then said boss returns later with a twist but you realize he isn’t that much of a challenge anymore now that you've figured him out. I will definitely go back and try to get the "good ending" by doing the special side quests, and there’s tons of stuff I’ve never even seen myself which I heard other players encountered, so I do want to go back and maybe play it a bit slower and look for things that I’ve missed. |
Started Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age recently after it came out on Switch, this is my first time . Very different to other Final Fantasies and it shares some design traits with Xenoblade Chronicles... except that I feel like Xenoblade's boss battles are more involved in. I have just got up to the part where you are taken prisoner aboard the Dreadnought and find out that a certain character isn't dead.
Oh, and in spite of Vaan being the main character I've decided my party plans will not include him and will be focused around Balthier who I've controlled when I can. |
I forgot to mention it but I did finish my second Sekiro run like two weeks ago, it was great. I actually want to play it a third time now but I think I should take a break before it gets too mundane. It’s still the GOTY for me I think. There’s some promising stuff ahead but matching this caliber of greatness is hard. Like other FromSoft games Sekiro just instantly worked for me.
Anyways, I want to try that Spider-Man game for PS4 next, but my package containing it was stolen so I’m waiting for the replacement now. Kinda ironic that someone would steal a game in order to play as a hero though. |
Well, I was taking a short break but now it looks like I gotta do my umpteenth playthrough of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII after seeing the new Remake trailer.

So Marvel's Spider-Man... damn. I'm really glad I decided to pick this one up, I was really sleeping on it. It’s the best damn comic book inspired videogame I've ever played. Yes, better than the Arkham games.
The story of all things is top-notch, it thwarts every attempt they made to re-imagine Spider-Man through new runs both in book form and in other media over the years, it's insane really. And the stuff they're setting up for the sequel - holy shit. Gameplay is great too, like it's your usual open world shenanigans and it can get a bit repetitive but they crafted the world with so much love for the characters and story its hard not to get invested in it all. I'm not much of a graphics guy so all I can say is they were good, obviously state of the art, and it ran smoothly which is what I care about most. But the sounds, music and voices - man those were great. The VA's especially, they really did something special with the cast. As someone who isn’t all too invested in comic books and their movies these days but loved Spider-Man growing up, this was one hell of an experience. If you have the opportunity to play it, do it. |
Finally finished Doom 2016. What an utterly, well-designed game. There's LOADS of lore and story for you to discover if you want it or just ignore if you don't care. The secrets can lead to you getting weapons earlier than intended which really makes the MetroidVania fan in me squee, Mick Gordon's soundtrack was brilliant and the gameplay? Goddamn, so much FUN. Next games I'm planning on playing are the Travis Strikes Again DLC as I never got around to it when it came out and Bloodstained when it comes out on the 25th

Playing Super Mario Maker 2. Made a bunch of levels but after extensive criticism for some of them I had to pull them down and redesign to adjust. Maybe I overreacted for some of them based on one person's opinion but in some cases people found genuine problems with them like softlocks.
One level had to be redesigned twice because I could not find the best way to keep it user friendly and I also toned down the instant deathtrap on advice. I would share levels but I don't think there's any point unless anyone else here plays MM2. |
Today I finished Final Fantasy VII. So, a little bit of backstory: I own this game for about 20 years now. I got it with a bunch of other games alongside my first console, the Playstation.
I must have tried it as a kid, but tossed it aside because I had no clue what was going on. As a teen I got word of some legendary game that was supposed to be among the best ever made. And then there was a movie about it, a spin-off game (multiple in fact) and general hype all around. That was when I started digging through my box of old games and sure enough, there it was: Final Fantasy VII. At that point I was too intimidated to try it. Like, how can a game be this good? Also, JRPG’s kicked my ass back then so I was afraid I might get stuck somewhere. Back in the box. I bought the Steam version in a sale ages ago, never touched it. Then the remake is announced a couple of years back and I’m like "Whatever". But for some reason I was thinking "Just try it" 2 weeks ago and I did. I couldn’t stop playing. Right after the Bombing Run it clicked, I was addicted to this game. Yeah, it really is as good as most people say. When the end credits were rolling I had my original copy sitting on the desk next to me, it felt really good to finally finish it. |
I just finish completing Turok 1 on the Switch and the game is still pretty great. I always love how the game feels like one big adventure of you going to other realms fighting against Dinosaurs, Robots, and evil mutants. The remaster is better than the original given how there is no graphical slowdowns compare to the N64 version.
The only thing that didn't age well is how empty the game feels at time, but that's about it. I look forward to revisiting Turok 2 soon. I give Turok 1 an 8/10. |
Once my Oculus Go arrives tomorrow I’ll have to pick out some games to play on it.

Mario Oddyssey is a lot of fun. This is the first major Mario game that I've played since Mario Galaxy 1 on the Wii (I never played Galaxy 2 or Super Mario 3D World). So far, I do feel like this is the 3D Mario game that I have been waiting for after the N64 days.

Oddly enough despite not growing up with the game, playing it felt really nostalgic. |
I'm playing Final Fantasy VII on PS Classic and will be at the 2nd disk soon. Trying to level up and max out my Limit Breaks.

I finished Persona 5 yesterday. I bought it for like 3€ at a Black Friday sale last year. I know, there's an updated, better version coming out next month. The thing is: I didn’t know if I would even like it, I played Persona 4 ages ago and that one I only played for a couple of minutes. So for 3 bucks I gave it a shot. 80 hours of playtime later, can't say that wasn't worth my money. Quite the opposite in fact.
Loved it. The gameplay is fun, the characters are great and the graphics are sweet. The style of the game is so unique. Just the way the UI works, the transitions are done, all with that great soundtrack - it's stylized as hell, in just the right way. I went into it for the RPG as I'm not a fan of social simulations, but I quickly got the hang of it mostly because interacting with the characters was fun and the whole idea of your party members getting stronger / better if you spend time with them is very well thought out. So yeah, I liked this one. And now I'm looking forward to forgetting all about it and then buying the updated version for another 3 bucks in a couple of years :lol Currently I’ve tackled another franchise I was unfamiliar with: Phoenix Wright. I bought the compilation on Steam when Capcom had their sale last week, I've been wanting to check this series out for a long time but never quit got to a good starting point. I'm very close to finishing the first game in the trilogy and I enjoyed it so far. The characters are super fun and the courtroom battles are quite thrilling really. I feel bad about it but one time I actually had to look something up because I wasn't getting anywhere - only to find that the answer was blatantly obvious. Well, good thing I didn’t become a lawyer or anything. |
I did finish Mario Odyssey a while back and I enjoy the game a lot. The map layout is amazingly fun to explore though. I did wish the game was harder because I didn't think it was that hard. You lose coins when you die and you have so many coins in the game. I feel like there was no risk when I die because I know that I will never get a Game Over.
I do think it is the best 3D Mario game to date (Even better than Super Mario 64 for having better controls and camera). I give it an 8/10. |
Picked up a PlayStation 1 Classic a few months ago.
Currently playing Final Fantasy VII Metal Gear Solid Rainbow 6 Resident Evil Director's Cut Ridge Racer 4 Syphon Filter Tekken 3 Mobile Tomb Raider I Tomb Raider II Trailer Park Boys Greasy Money |
I'll be playing the FF7 Remake as soon as the disc download is finished....

Dauntless and Animal Crossing New Horizons lately.

I have been doing my own Doom marathon since last year and replaying all of them up to the release of Doom Enetral. I'm getting Doom Enetral for my birthday in a few weeks from now, so it gives me some more time to replay these games.
My Doom ratings: Doom - The one that started it all and I consider the game to be perfect. The game is still amazing if you ask me. Perfect 10/10 Doom 2 - Bigger and better than the first game in my opinion. I consider Doom 2 to be the Empire Strikes Back of the Doom series. Dom 64 - Just as amazing as the first two games. However, the Demon Mother is a pain in the ass to defeat. Doom 3 - I loved Doom 3 back in the mid-2000s on the original Xbox, but this game did not hold up well for me. I still think it's a good game with an amazing atmosphere and the game is pretty scary at times, but the gameplay style did not work for Doom in my opinion. It's a good game, but not a good Doom game. Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil - Pretty meh in my opinion. I'm almost done with Doom 2016 and my opinion on the game is still the same when I first completed back in 2016. It's the best FPS game of the 2010s and a fantastic reboot/sequel in my opinion. |
There's so many games I played lately but today I finally started The World Ends With You, the controls are fucking garbage but literally everything else is godlike here

Started up Clue on Mobile this week. Used to be and still is a board game.
Got the international suspects right away with plans to get the Sherlock pack next. White replaced by Orchid but playable for me. |
So, Doom Eternal. After 27 hours I have beaten the game on Ultra Violence and collected everything there is to collect and unlocked everything there is to unlock on that save file, which for me means I'm finished.
And man, this was quite the ride. I'd say this is the single best singleplayer first-person shooter I've ever played. I'm not huge into the genre as it needs science-fiction or fantasy elements to get me hooked, military men shooting at other military men doesn't interest me, but from the ones I’ve played this is the best. It’s not only a fantastic sequel to an already great game, Doom 2016, but manages to achieve what a sequel should always do: It surpasses its predecessor in every single way. The gameplay, the graphics, the presentation, the music - everything is perfect. The levels are longer and more interesting, the story is nothing special still but goes a lot deeper into the lore than the first game, and they outdid themselves with the level and enemy design. So good. It also managed to make me geek out hardcore, because it confirmed a theory I had playing Doom 2016. The Doom Slayer from these games is really the Doom Marine from Doom 1-2 and 64. I humored that theory playing the first game, throwing it away because it made no sense and then the guys at id Software come in, introduce the Doom-multiverse and are like "Yeah, its true". And it's done so well IMO, it adds another satisfying layer to this world and man I just love it so much. The only, teeny tiny thing I wished was done better, is the ending. The game just ends. There's no epilogue, no ending cut scene - you kill the final boss (which is great by the way), then the screen fades to black and that’s it. Now, Doom 2016 didn’t have half an hour of an ending cutscene either, but they did have a great moment with an NPC teasing what's to come. And considering that said NPC has a lot revealed about him in this game, I wished he came back and did it again. Oh well, there's DLC coming for this game so I hope it's more missions set after the end that tell us a bit about what happened and where Doom 3 / "Whatever subtitle they come up with" will be heading. Because let’s face it, after two games of this magnitude, there better be a third. |
11 chapters into the FF7 Remake. I am also getting a Nintendo Switch since I'm stuck in the house this month.
|
Now 13 Chapters in FF7R. I might start Fire Emblem 3 Houses tonight.
|
Hope it wasn't hard for you to get a switch because a lot of the stores around here are sold out of them.

Played a few hours of Fire Emblem 3H last night, doing the Black Eagle route. I wasn't going to at first, because it seamed such an obvious choice, but the characters are more appealing.
