And that might be the problem. I think I'll finish the series out, I'll try and buy some Figuarts. But.. Wizard just won't the same place in my heart that Fourze does. |
Well, I'm pretty much where Sentai is in Wizard, actually. I'm having the same problems too. The whole deal with Phoenix should have been panned out much more, the powerups lack imagination, and there just isn't much appeal to keep burning through episodes. Beast is totally underused too.
I'd probably be a lot angrier if I weren't watching Wizard as brain bleach after finishing Evangelion. |

With you on Eva though. End of Eva messed me up for a long time afterward. |

And Eva's ending was about as satisfying as a clip show. I'm in line with Spike Spencer. |
This is why people shouldn't watch Evangelion :lol
Anyway, at this point, I really don't have much hope for Infinity. It'll have an interesting first outing and then just stagnate like all his other powers. |

I really do not like the Dragon Timer. Even if I collected Roleplay DX Toys I wouldn't buy that. There were so much better ways (So much better, that's a real education there) to combine all of the Dragon peices into one Rider Form than a Kitchen Timer you Shake Hands with. Do we know exactly yet how he becomes Infinity? I hope it's a ring and not something idiotic like this. |

Personally, I think All Dragon would have been better if it had been Haruto accessing all of his Dragon forms simultaneously (like what he usually does with the Drago Timer) instead of an alternate version of the Special Rush Ring. Also, "Sol" is the Latin name for the Sun typically used in sci-fi to distinguish our sun from other suns. |

Personally, I like Wizard more than Fourze. Neither one is one of my top shows of all time, but on the whole I like Wizard more of the two. A lot of that boils down to the story - it feels like Wizard's pacing is much better. The story isn't moving fast, but it feels like it is still moving. Fourze just straight up stopped for about the middle third of the series, leading to a really rushed final 10-12 episodes. Wizard feels much better in this regard.
It also helps that Wizard's costume isn't terrible and he doesn't have those lame switch weapons. |
Nah, Wizard's just got a giant Gusher for a head and a high-five reaching for his crotch. :/

Watched the episodes with Nitou's Granny. And I really enjoyed them, to be honest. Strange seeing the Secondary Rider emote more than the Primary. And it gave him some excellent backstory. .. Gremlin and WereTiger could've kept Shun though. Cannot wait to see the next episode with Medusa. She's quickly become my favorite Phantom. |

Well, I think you're over exaggerating useless for "Specific."
Except for Hopping. That one was useless. |

And as far as cosmic switches go, count up how many of them you actually see more than twice (not counting the movie's all switch fight scene). It's maybe fifteen out of the forty. |

Yeah, I did not like Fourze's gimmick at all. But I don't like Wizard's either. I really don't like either Rider (but I don't hate them or anything) but arguing which is dumber looking seems like semantics in the grand scheme. I mean, Wizard is just so ridiculous looking and the driver is a hand. A hand. And all he does is just wave his hand in front of... the hand. It's so... anticlimactic. (to say nothing of it's awful standby noise. Fourze at least hand that awesome counting down)

Just watched the Scissors episodes of Ryuki. The character wasn't much to write home about - the costume was pretty cool but his contract monster was just a humanoid blob with claws. Really digging this Rider War stuff though.
Next episode - Zolda! :D |
Quote:
He was definitely forgettable but being killed by your own partner monster is a great way to go out. You'll enjoy how things progress from here too, the war gets pretty awesome. And Zolda is second to Ouja as my favorite rider from Ryuki. |

And is "13 riders" the special, and "Episode final" the movie ? I really enjoy Ryuki, because it keeps a good mix between misteries, comedy and action (at last for the first half), but knowing there's not one but TWO retcon is somehow disappointing from what I expected about the finality... |
Right now i am currently watching kiva and i have just finished Den-O. I am putting wizard on hold (at episode 14) until the movie war ultimatum is subbed, so it may be a while.

So...Kamen Rider Zolda is pretty damn awesome isn't he? :D

Depending on how you interpret the story you might change your idea about the "Retcon". Just take the main series as the main continuity and treat the other two forms of media as side-stories. If you listen/read to the interaction between Kanzaki Shiro and Yui often you might see the connection all three have. Granted, most of it is pretty much unconfirmed fan-theory but you might come to the same conclusion once you finish the main series. |
Thanks for the replies

Not that I'm not enjoying the human element/drama in Ryuki, but is there a point in the show where anything involving Riders/the Mirror World isn't crammed into the last three minutes of an episode? I'm all for shifting focuses, but its been pretty much the same pattern every episode so far.
Granted I'm only on episode 12, but I thought I'd ask. |

I started on Decade, but I already posted my thoughts on episode 1 a few months ago, so here are my thoughts on episode 2:
I thought that it was ok. two things stuck out to me though...1: How does Tsukasa know how to speak Grongi? Not even Yuusuke knows. 2: In Natsumi's vision...Kuuga goes ultimate, which is rumored to have a Rider Kick that can destroy the entire planet, and Decade brushed off his attacks like they were nothing. Other than those things it was ok. The reason I say it's ok is because the resolution relied on Tsukasa knowing how to speak Grongi...which made no sense. I like Onodera so far though, I just wish that they explained what happened to Godai. |

Blade 22. Mutsuki starting to be able to somehow control his Category Ace. An Undead seems to have interest in Hajime for a "promise". And Ozawa from Agito is in this episode! Man she's thin.

Finally finished Den-O 36: Liner form is a huge improvement over Climax form, but the sword is kind of clunky. Wish it was a more streamlined design, but beats the rather generic design of his old sword due to being made of multiple parts that can re-assemble as other weapons. Plus, it's RevolGarry in the driver's seat, albeit still a bit of a stumbling oaf and his finisher is kind of weird. (any attack that involves sliding while standing in a still pose into an enemy is dumb to me. Though I think this is the first tiem I've seen a rider series do it) For all his talk of wanting and trying to be stronger, I thinks he's somehow more pathetic in Platform than he was before. His shining moment was using Zeronos' sword... to zero success. The story also kind of feels like it's driving standard, starting and jerking with it's pacing. And Naomi and Spiral are seriously starting to annoy me. If he peace-signs one more fucking time I swear... ugh, Japan, I don't think you know what the peace sign means. Please fucking stop using it. Thumbs-up is infinitely cooler and you don't look like a tool doing it because it's a near-universally accepted symbol of success and approval. Unless everyone in Japan are just uncharacteristically well-dressed, well-mannered and hygenic hippies? :/

Just watched episode 19 of Ryuki.
Sigh. I definitely want Ouja now. And Venosnaker. And if I want Venosnaker I guess it means I'll want Genocider. |
