That Iron Fist trailer was awesome. Whoever is playing Iron Fist sure is hot.
|
fuuuuuuuuuck I still need to see Luke Cage
|
|
Iron Fist looks neat, but I don't like the unshaven look. I like bandana around his face Iron Fist. While the normal guy look works well for Jessica and Luke, Iron Fist always looked his best while in costume, not as some homely looking mofo...
Still gonna watch it, and I'll probably love it, but I just love the costume. Quote:
While I do know a few people who would be disappointed (Namely over Doom not being Iron Man), I'm fine with it. |

I'm not really a huge Marvel comics fan but I do know that a lot of people hate the direction that they're going with and hoping it returns back to what it was. Hopefully it ends the "giving solo titles to characters no-one really cares about or don't really need a solo title" (except for "Rocket" which launches in May). |

Reason I say this is I like the changes but the books were a bit of a bore these days. Champions and ANAD X-Men is awesome, but the other books were meh. |

Shield: Well this week's episode was at least better than last week. I do feel kind of let down though that Nader was just killed off like that. I wanted to see her brother come back to kill her. Good god was Ada's prototype an idiot. She just wasted what she had left on a sham and is now dead but doesn't even know it. Too bad the tumor didn't take her out sooner. I did like how Quake kept blowing the dude up. It kind of reminds me of what Doctor Strange did to Dormammu in the movie, just not as cool as that was. The rest of the episode I have forgotten already. How much longer are they going to drag this plot out for? I want Ghost Rider back! |
So I saw Dr.Strange finally and I thought it was alright. The visuals were stunning, but other than that everything else was kinda meh, the main villain sucked too.

I'm starting to feel a bit burn out by the MCU. I hope after The Avengers 3, they should take a rest for a while.

I don't see why it would matter if we have 10 super hero movies a year when we have like 50 comedies, 50 dramas, and 200 action movies out there. They're pretty much their own genre now.

Seriously, only a couple are tied together and the thing about Marvel is that you don't need to watch every one of them to understand them. Outside of Iron Man 2 and maybe AoU, all of the movies are stand alone stories that you don't have to watch the others to enjoy. You can easily just watch the three Cap movies and be perfectly happy. |
Quote:
Also, that's the beauty of stand alone movies that aren't connected, you can just watch them, and if good, you'll feel satisfied and don't need to catch up on the previous movies to make any sense. Avengers was my second MCU movie and I had no fucking clue what was going on. Who are these people? Why should I care about them? Whem Civil War was out I watched Age of Ultron, all three Iron Man films and the first Captain America movie, so I didn't have those issues again |
I actually think now is a perfect time to take a break from Marvel. This year we're going to have Guardians 2, a sequel to a movie that is currently unrelated to the other MCU events (At least, until Infinity War), Spider-Man Homecoming, which likely follows up on Civil War (Considering Stark is in it), but probably isn't too relevant, and Thor: Ragnarok, which I'm betting probably will be important, but it's coming out in Nov, giving you 9 months to just ignore Marvel.
In addition, Infinity War comes out May of next year. So while you'd likely have to see those 3 films (And Black Panther) to understand it, you do have a full year to just...Sit on them for the time being. Ever since Civil War, I've felt the films had since left the point where you could jump in and enjoy them. Avengers 1 was all about the action, so you could be fine not watching the prior films. But for Civil War to really have any sense of impact, you kinda needed the other 2 Cap films, AOU, IM3, Avengers, and Ant-Man to really get it. While stuff like Guardians was so far in the left field that they're really just solo films and you can get away with watching it and nothing else, they're kind of it... |
I remember a rumour a while ago that Marvel is planning a 'reboot' of sorts with Strange, Panther and Captain Marvel as the big 3 after Infinity War to shift focus onto different heros with a different story without having to bring old characters back. I'd say it's good to do that soon as we're getting pretty low on good entry points for newcomers now
|
It would be pretty neat if they did something like that, but unless they're considering to continue the MCU after Phase 3, then I don't think that's happening.
...Then again, Ant-Man and Guardians got sequels announced only after they were proven to be successes, so who knows. Maybe those 3 can usher in a new 'era' to the MCU. |
Finally got to see Doctor Strange. Feels good to be caught up again.
I enjoyed the film. Mordo is seeming to be a pretty solid villain. |

I can't wait for the sequel~! I loved the effects~ |

However... Quote:
Also, Infinity War is the big event, just like the comics having big events. You don't need to see/read the stories leading up to it if you don't want to, but it will enhance the experience if you do. Quote:

I disagree somewhat. Civil War's entire premise stems from Age of Ultron's climax. The Sokovia attack (And destruction), Zemo's motivation, literally everything about why JARVIS is a walking quilt now (Which, unlike the Sokovia thing, isn't referenced to at all. No context is given for outside viewers who didn't see AoU), and the presence of Scarlet Witch.
It's not entirely necessary to watch all the films leading up to Civil War, I'll admit, but Vision, Wanda, and Ant-Man are given no introduction whatsoever for those not in the know. And 2 of those 3 characters play major roles in the film. |

I was willing to put that on poor wording, but what I meant was that to enjoy and understand Infinity War, you'd need to have seen GotG. Hell, Thor's Mjolnir looks a lot different and even Thor fans are confused due to that most likely being something introduced in Ragnarok. The less questions your audience has to ask, the better. If anything, shouldn't the fact Civil War is 'the big event' mean that it NEEDS you to know about the movies beforehand? My sister for example did enjoy the movie, but she had no clue about who everyone was other than Steve Rogers. Everyone else I know who saw the movie agreed it's amazing, but it's something moreso for the fans who've been keeping up rather than the average joe or jill I meant those specific incarnations of the characters, I never saw anything of Captain America outside an episode of 90's Spiderman I couldn't remember well at the time and thought the concept of him alone was dumb. Hell, Ant-Man is a lot different than his traditional incarnations, is he not? |
But they are still those characters.
I get what you are saying, but part of it is expected that you have seen the other movies just like with the comics it is expected you have read the other series. As for Civil War, it's the third Captain America movie, so of course you need to have seen some of the prior stuff. If you walked into a store and wanted to read a comic series you weren't familiar with, are you going to start with issue 1, issue 37, or issue 100? Would you start watching Star Wars with Return of the Jedi? Would you start watching Breaking Bad at Season 4? |

|
Again, there was no issue. You only need to see the Captain America movies to understand Civil War. Of course, since we have all seen all of the prior movies, I guess that is no way to really prove it.
Your dyslexic joke doesn't make sense to me. |
Quote:
That wasn't a joke, but a comparison, albeit a flawed one |
First off, can someone tell me what happened at the end? LMD Coulson wakes LMD May up and tells her she has been off for too long and then it just abruptly cut to the news without actually finishing the show.
Secondly, am I the only one that found this episode to be down right boring? The whole plot was a snoozefest and the CGI to make May look younger in the flashback scenes was awful. I'm also finding the Superior to be hands down the worst villain in the entire MCU. His motivations are so petty and generic. "I don't like Inhumans because they got powers and I didn't, wahwahwah." "I want you dead Coulson because you got my men killed for failing their mission. Wahwahwah." Give me a freaking break! Seriously, how much longer is this damn arc going to last? How did this season go from really incredible to borderline bland? Legends of Tomorrow's first season was far more exciting than this. Oh I can't wait until iZombie comes back so I can have something good on Tuesday nights to watch (after Flash, obviously). |
First cast member of the Inhumans show has been revealed. Iwan Rheon, who I most know from playing Barry ;) in Misfits but most others seem to know from that Game of Thrones thing, has been cast as Maximus. Who, I am assuming will at some point be mad.

Villains have never been the MCU's strong point. |

Oh yeah, finished Luke Cage. Weakest MCU Netflix by far, it dragged on for too long, but was still rather enjoyable, especially Claire and Luke. Now we wait for Danny |
I can not agree there. Luke Cage is the first of the Netflix shows I felt 13 episodes was not remotely enough. It was so well told, so beautifully shot, and feature a lot of great music (and I hate rap music), especially during the "live stage performances" in the club. It is tied with DareDevil's second season.
For me, JJ is the weakest as it was all over the place, it should have been only 8 episodes at most, and Jessica herself was an unlikable prick. David Tennant's role as Purple Man is what really made it work and he is hands down my favorite villain in the MCU right now (he will be taken down once Thanos becomes the main player). I'm not really looking forward to Iron Fist. I'm tired of plain clothes heroes and villains. I want to see costumed guy now, especially when it comes to villains. |
Iron Fist being plain clothes is disappointing because I love the Iron Fist look, not some bearded, homeless white boy.
Daredevil could get away with it because it was about his rise as a hero, and he dons the costume later. Jessica because her outfits were horrible, and Luke has been plain clothes for the past 20 years. But Iron Fist...Man... Luke Cage should've kept Cottonmouth for a lot longer. He was a hell of a lot more interesting than Diamondback's "EVIL BECAUSE I EVIL NI**A!" attitude. Also lost a lot of the nuance the Netflix villains had because Diamondback was so blatantly uninteresting with such a poor backstory. I think if they kept the villains to solely Cottonmouth, Shades, and Mariah, and had Diamondback remain a mystery for season 2, it would've been a lot stronger. |
Luke Cage also has some stuff I simply can't believe happened
Diamondback becoming the main villain halfway through with a SINGLE namedrop as foreshadowing Diamondback succeeding with framing Luke for murder by yelling "I'M LUKE CAGE" and the police believe this despite the ending saying that there's proof that WASN'T Cage Shades nearly getting killed by 1 guy but the others do NOTHING despite Shades clearly fighting back Misty not having a password on her phone and having her contacts listed with their full names The police still thinking Cage is the bad guy during the hostage situation despite firearms being used when he doesn't need them Jessica Jones could have used a few episodes less as it dragged on too, but I at least enjoyed Kilgrave every time he was on screen. Yet I honestly couldn't give a shit about Diamondback and feel bitter that the amazing Cottonmouth just didn't get more screentime |
Funny story about Diamondback and Cottonmouth. When they mentioned their names at the start of the show I thought they were going to be the Serpent Society guys. I know next to nothing beyond the basics of Luke Cage, so I had no idea there were regular goons with those names in the comics.
BTW, another thing I loved about Luke Cage is how it was harkening back to the blacksploitation films of the 70s. EDIT: Tonight's Shield: 1. How the hell was this the end of the arc? IT'S STILL GOING!!!! 2. OH FOR THE LOVE OF... GRANT, REALLY??!!! God damn it I knew it was too good to be true for him not to appear in this season. I even made that comment month's ago. 3. This episode was utter dog crap and has made this entire arc pointless. 4. Great, so now we are going to deal with them trying to free their minds from the Matrix for the next 8 episodes? :wall: 5. What happened in the end? Ada woke the Russian dude up and showed him the Darkhold, but then it cut off (AGAIN!) for the news. |
