Ive seen 7 episodes so far and I have to say it's great. I love the bits of comedy at times. It adds a good touch to the series. I wish there was more martial arts. The rest of the episodes might have it but so far there hasn't been as much as I'd like to see.

Speaking of rights, from what I heard the only issue with Hulk is that only Universal has the right ti release Hulk movies, the characters can be used in other movies though. Hope that means She-Hulk gets to be in MCU someday |
If they do a Werewolf by Night story, that means Moon Knight can appear!
And yeah, Hulk and Namor are caught up in Universal's contract in that they have exclusive distribution rights, but Marvel has film rights otherwise. I've heard that Namor might not be tangled in that particular web anymore, though. Unsure about it, though. Marvel has the rights to the android Human Torch (He even cameo'd in Captain America). They could troll Fox and make a film about him (It?) |

We watched the first five episodes of Iron Fist today and I seriously don't know what the reviews were saying. This show is great. Sure, compared to Dare Devil and Luke Cage, it is inferior, but the only negative I have so far is how slow moving the first episode was. However, that is just an issue with all of the Netflix shows. Everything else has been well done so far. They're building up towards having a villain (and hopefully it will be a costumed villain and not a business suited one), the action scenes have been well done, and Colleen has been one of the strongest parts of the show. Oh, and the music that sounds like it came from Tron is great too. That scene on the pier was pretty damn badass. If you go into this show wanting to see something completely new, then you're probably watching the wrong thing at this point because until Marvel does a horror based series/movie, I don't see that happening. Nevertheless, I am not disappointed one bit so far. Oh, and another awesome hallway fight sequences!

So after finishing the second season of Better Call Saul, we went ahead and watched episodes 6-8 of Iron Fist. The show is starting to get stagnant as too much time is being spent on the Not-Lannisters rather than being a super hero show. Also, for being a show about martial arts, the fight choreography sucks. The battles in the sixth episode were just atrocious to sit through. I mean, one of the guy used a god damned spear and they did NOTHING with it. Then in the 8th episode we get a guy using the drunken style, but Danny stands there most of the time gazing with a blank stare as if he isn't sure whether to fight or laugh. Also, the dude who plays Ward is starting to get on my nerves with his over acting. That scene when he met with Danny in his dad's penthouse was horrible.
Thankfully, there is still enough good going on in this show that keeps it from being bad, but this may end up becoming my least favorite of the MCU shows and probably on the same lines as Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow as far as the final product is concerned. |

My problem is things being deemed racist, sexist what have you for simply not including those things. |
Finished Iron Fist.
Was pretty good. There were mild pacing issues, but they're actually never brought up in the negative reviews. Aside from that, the only other problems were the characters warping around locations and some of the fights being rather lack luster. Otherwise, pretty enjoyable show. Considering all the racial issues surrounding it, well...I can't quite bring myself to care. Danny has always been a white dude, and his struggle is completely personal. Hell, a plot point is that he wasn't the defender and guardian people wanted him to be because he was, basically, too selfish. White savior he is not. Not to mention our two non-white female leads are kind of portrayed as infinitely more competent than him because he's too naive to really function without them. I really don't understand what's going on. Anyway, in relation to the show, I really hope season 2 gives Madame Gao greater significance. Be it here or Daredevil, she was always more of an obstacle for someone else's schemes, even when she was trying to be a major player. They always play her up as the master puppeteer in her appearances, but when she's beaten, the real big bad goes "Haha, with her out of the way now I can do all my bullshit unabated." |
I finished Iron Fist. After reading the reviews and watching the series, my verdict on the show is that it's a hit or miss kind of thing. You either like it or you don't. I personally loved and I'm sad it's over. One thing that bugged me a lot was that we barely got any backstory on Danny during his time Kun Lun. We never even got to get a good look at the place. I loved all the twists at then end, they definitely made it more interesting. At first I despised Ward, but near the end I actually thought he was pretty cool.
I had way too many questions at the end though. Why does Joy want to kill Danny? How did she meet Davos? How did Gao get out? What happened to Kun Lun? The answers to these questions would be perfect for a second season. I really hope they make a second season. It would be cool to see Davos as the Steel Serpent and the main villain for the season. |
I just watched episodes 9 and 10, and yet again the fights suck. How is it that a show about martial arts doesn't seem to have the characters fight with martial arts? It's just street brawling stuff that we got with Jones, DD, and Cage. Where is the fluid, fast past, beautiful motions that is supposed to encompany this sort of fight style? Also, where is the super natural aspect? A guy that can come back from the dead does not count. I want to see alternate dimensions, dragons, demons, etc. Where is all of that? The show isn't bad or anything, it's just not doing anything to make itself stand out from everything else. It's just going through the motions. Lastly, I finally figured out why Danny isn't exactly wowing me. He is just the same boring and uninteresting character he has always been in the comics. He was lame in the 90s comics that featured him. He is lame in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon. And he is flat out lame here. I guess I should be happy that they are keeping with the source material, but since he hasn't put on a god damned costume yet, I can't.

Iron Fist didn't really do much supernatural stuff. He was always "Focus your chi then do the mickey" and other stuff.
There were some supernatural elements, like ki blasts and ki weapons, but I don't think there was much about alternate dimensions and demons and stuff. Then again, I mostly read him in Iron Fist and Luke Cage: Heroes for Hire, where he basically kicked the shit out of drug dealers and pimps, so I might not have read the right books :lol |
Well I finished the last 3 episodes of Iron Fist. Episode 11 was okay, 12 was pretty awesome though and featured easily the best fights in the whole series. The two fights in Central Park were amazing. Unfortunately, the final villain turned out to be pretty damn lame and petty and the end battle was just as lame. Also, the cliffhanger ending was kind of meh.
Overall, this show was a mixed bag. Looking at it on its own, it was a decent series. The story would have been a lot tighter had it been 8-10 episodes as it felt like they were starting to straggle with what they wanted to do. Colleen and Claire were hands down the best characters in the show and they are really what made it. Every piece of snark that came out of Claire's mouth was just perfect. Danny was a bland protagonist and he seemed to get more selfish as the show went on, which is a shame because he started out as this fish out of water character only to become the spoiled rich boy that wants everything to go his way. And then when he gets his way, he still isn't happened. God damn entitled rich millennial! :D The Meachums were hit or miss too. At first they were interesting, but then it seemed like the writers had no idea what to do with them and the father was utterly worthless. He is what really dragged the show down quite a bit. He couldn't even give us a good god damn fight scene. Now compared to the other Marvel shows, this is easily the weakest of them all. I know I had issues with Jessica Jones, but at least she had the Purple Man to keep me engaged. Also, as I have said before, for being a show about martial arts, the fighting was absolutely no different than any of the other series (sans the 12th episode and one of Colleen's previous fights). Sadly though, this show lacked the atmosphere of DareDevil and the incredible camera work of Luke Cage. Also, the music was hit or miss. I love the Tron-sounding opening, but the best of the music barely ever seem to have presence to it. Lastly, compared to all of the current comic book shows, this is also one of the weakest with perhaps only Agents of Shield and Legends of Tomorrow being lower than it. Although, I can't comment on Legion since I have no interest in wasting my time on an X-Men related show that doesn't even have any X-Men in it. In the end, I'm going to give Iron Fist a 7/10. |
Spider-Man Homecoming domestic and international posters. Nice Century 21 blazer, Spidey.

As much as I love the Marvel Spidey suit, I think the DIY Homebrew Kickass version of Spider-Man appeals to me more.

Usually I hate miniaturized clothes because they look weird and unappealing. Hot Toys, on the other hand, somehow makes them look like, well, clothes.

A teaser for tomorrow's Homecoming trailer. Spider-Tracer!

Here we go-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiTECkLZ8HM not sure if I like RDJ being on hand to guide Peter through this movie but it feels weirdly metaphorical. also, there's still a gigantic JK Simmons-shaped hole in this franchise & that saddens me. |
The hype has definitely worn off for me. I don’t even want to go and see this anymore; I’m comfortable waiting for this once I can stream it.
On one hand I’m glad they’re changing a few things so it’s not the usual run-of-the-mill Spider-Man movie, on the other hand this lacks lots of things I love about Spider-Man. I really don’t like the whole Daddy Tony Stark stuff. I think they took it a bit too far with the inexperienced Spider-Man idea. Also I don’t like the villains, mostly because I can’t really get fired up about what they have to offer since I know its Marvel movie villains who are not called Loki, meaning I’ll never see them again after this. And starting with the Vulture of all things… eh. I mean I’m glad Shocker’s there too and they can introduce more meaningful bad guys later but still. And this trailer really is the whole plot in a nutshell, that’s not good. |

Some bad guys just lose appeal over time. Every time I've read Spider-Man comics in my youth the Vulture was the type of villain who would appear in a one shot or as a member of some group, never as someone who could hold his own in an ongoing story-arc. And even at that part he wasn't too memorable. Honestly I would've preferred Shocker as the big bad or maybe even Mysterio. He's a bit obscure but at least you can have fun with him, sky's the limit with what they could achieve through special effects with that character. I mean special effects are what this guy is all about. Vulture is, well, flying monster guy. I'm not trying to be too hard on the movie for this, starting out with a really popular baddy who requires a lot of setup isn’t a good way to go either. Some villains like Doc Ock or the Goblins need some time, I agree with you on that one. And Michael Keaton alone is making this a lot more interesting. Quote:
I expect a shitty Agent Venom crapfest. |
Yep. Vulture was the villain of Amazing Spider-Man #2. Chameleon was the enemy of the second story to the first issue.
I haven't watched the trailer yet (nor the JL one), but I am super excited for this movie. I don't need to be hyped up to go see it, this is Spider-Man. |
Despite giving too much away, the trailer looks perfectly serviceable to me. I'll see it.
|
I haven't watched the trailer (Since apparently it gives away everything), but I think the Vulture is a perfect start.
Well known Spider-Man villain, but still ultimately a B lister. Member of the Sinister Six, which does give him some wiggle room to return for later films. Unused in the other 5 Spider-Man films, to prevent fans from basically doing a side by side comparison. I'm not saying your thoughts are wrong, but if they're going for the inexperienced Spidey angle, having him defeat a character like Ock or Goblin right out of the gate would be a little head scratching. Yeah, it'd be neat to see him overcome such a big foe, but I think starting a little smaller first works just as well. Also, every Spider-Man film thus far featuring one of the Goblins sucked shit anyway. |
the MCU is expanding even further, with a "New Warriors" series- starring Squirrel Girl ordered at Freeform.

Squirrel Girl? WTF? New Warriors are supposed to be Speedball, Nightthrasher, Namorita, Nova, and Firestar.

PG-13 is fine for Spider-Man, The Avengers and Superman because they rarely go beyond PG-13 in the comics. However comic book characters like Ghost Rider, Daredevil, The Punisher, Invincible, Constantine, Spawn, Etrigan the Demon and The Specter need to be R rated because that's how the comics are. I even feel like something Suicide Squad should have been R rated since the comics got really dark at times. If you are over 17, you should not care if the movie is R rated or not. I'm personally sick of things being water down to be PG-13 for ages since movies like Robocop 3 (and the new Robocop), the first Alien vs. Predator movie, the Ghost Rider movies, Die Hard 4, the last two Terminator movies, Ghost in the Shell (live action) and 90's Mortal Kombat movies should not been PG-13 ever. They should not make something PG-13 just to sell toys and worry about upsetting people. In the 80's and 90's, we had a lot of R rated blockbusters and no one cared. Now these days, people don't want to see R rated movies since you had people bitching about Logan being rated R. |
Quote:
The people who bitched about Logan weren't actually going to watch it you know? The issue isn't dumbing down, but rather how hard it's hit by it. Again, 90's Spidey was HEAVILY censored to the point it was utterly bizarre ('Spiderman must not injure pigeons when on rooftops' 'Spiderman is not allowed to throw a punch because it's too violent') but those are still enjoyable and got away with Punisher's origin story |

That aside, stoked about X-Men Blue. |
Is true the comics is having bad sales ?

Marvel is just looking for a scapegoat for their recent shitty stuff. I would imagine more people would read comics with the movies doing so well. From the looks of it, most MCU fans only like the movies and not the comics.
Digital sales are not a big issue because physical copies are still selling well. Not to mention indy comics are still doing well too. |
