I agree. The Ole OhRanger is one of my top favorites and it fit the initial plan (military) they had for the show.

Has anyone subbed Hurricanger in full? I'm really interested in watching it and I think I've heard of english subs but I can't seem to track them down.

Which blooper do you remember the most from all your accumulated viewing of super sentai? For example, piano strings caught on camera, cameraman reflected on ranger's visor, etc.

Thanks for telling me. I'd ask their quality but it doesn't really matter as long as it isn't HK. I usually can't tell the difference between good subs and great subs as far as translations but HK just doesn't seem to care at all about making any sense.

If we have a sea-themed ssentai someday, the robot would be called king neptune.

Two Dairanger Questions

A): What is the etymology of "Gorma"? I've speculated that it was based on "Gomorrah", and Shadam is based on "Sodom", the two destroyed cities in the Bible, but again, speculation on my part.

B): What was the primary reason for making Gorma Kaijin look like actual objects? Of note, PR ran with the notion and had Zedd make monsters out of objects. What was the mindset of Toei at this time?

Idk, but probably the same reason as the vilains from Jetman.

Is Go-Onger worth sinking my teeth into?

I think Gorma as villain really similar to Ganma from Kamen Rider Ghost especially their monsters has "one eyed" motif.

Gorma also really similar to Org from Gaoranger because some of Gorma's monsters and Orgs has one eye and their monsters mostly based on various objects.

If you like silly shows that, while lacking in the plot department, make up for it by being filled with an entire cast of fun characters on both the hero and the villain's side.

I liked Go-Onger. And the Engines were characters in their own right. And it's like night and day when you compare it to RPM.

So, is Kyuranger worth watching? I didn't like the first episode at all, mostly because Lucky drove me crazy.

Well, he hasn't tone down, but you can still watch it for the other cast members like Ryu Commander and Stinger/Orange since they're the other characters that get some character developments. Also, you can always skip Lucky's scenes, but so far he hog most of the screen time like all reds and the giant intergalactic villain group isn't that appealing.

Speaking of Kyuranger, they marketed the SHIT out of Pega. Yet he's gone. Am I the only one who noticed this?

In retrospect, we should have seen this coming. The Pegasus Kyutama isn't one that you can buy in stores and why go to the trouble of advertising a toy that kids can't buy?

Dude, if you can handle Ninninger, you can handle Kyuranger.

Lucky doesn't exactly calm down, but he's never as bad as that first episode again. If you're writing off the show just because of him I'd definitely give it at least a few more episodes. A lot of the other characters are pretty cool and the show's hyperactive pacing means the status quo is always being shaken up, so even though it still uses the usual MotW plots, things are a lot less stagnant than the average Sentai.

And Red was supposed to get some sun and moon power ups, but those haven't appeared at all. And we've already gotten previews for his final form, so I'm guessing those are out of the question now, or something.

Does anyone still have the toy catalogue scans of those. Cause they show which month they're supposed to release.

That sounds good to me - my main issues with Sentai are that it's so repetitive, and my main issue with Kyuranger was that Lucky made me want to cry. He was much more tolerable in that one episode of Ex-Aid. Maybe I'll check it out again.

Though, now that you mention it...I'm not sure why I enjoyed Ninninger. I think the fact that it was my first modern Sentai helped, and it was before I realized how repetitive Sentai really is. I doubt I could watch it nowadays.

Does anyone like the concept of super forms in Sentai and what are the favourites of everyone?

I like team super forms where everyone has the same one and they can activate it at the same time.

I forgive Shinkenger for having 2 power ups that only 2 rangers can use at a time, since they were shared and don't feel like a "red ranger" toy that he chooses to allow other members to have occasionally (thought that would make perfect sense for this season).

Something like Abareranger/Dino Thunder's Super Dino Mode or SWAT mode I like.

Daigo's Carnival form and as cool as Yamato seems, ZyuoEagle's form hogging are examples that I just hate.

I don't really have much of an opinion on them, sometimes they're cool and sometimes they're eh. I do prefer when the super forms can be used by everybody, because when it's Red-only, it promoted Red focus. From a visual standpoint, I think my favorite is Super Shinken Red, but I haven't seen that series so I don't know how it works. Function-wise, I haven't seen enough modern Sentai to really judge (I prefer the older stuff)

I love team forms, but I'm not a huge fan of red only forms. I don't mind when it's one power up that's supposed to be shared by the team, however. I think my favorite is probably SWAT mode. It just looks so natural with the rest of the suits.

I think if done well they are good. Perfect example are the Super Gekirangers. I love the suits and I love how they dont just have a few extra plastic armor on their base suit. THEY WEAR COMPLETELY NEW SUITS. Head to toe. Also the debut of those suits and powers were perfect at the time. Second best would be the Dekaranger swat modes. Really like how they do not look like tacky add-ons and make the existing suit look more tactical. Another favorite of mine are the Legend Magirangers because I love the redesigned helmets and other than having a redesigned helmet and chest armor mainly it works out well.

Do we have a sentai based on Animal Kingdom ?

It's a shame we never have a insect-themed sentai.

I've been saying that for years. We've only gotten 2 beetles for Gobuster and 2 beetles for Hurricanger and their beetles mecha. Also, there's the 2 B-fighter kabuto for metal heroes. I guess they don't want to overlap with riders, but we haven't have a bug rider since W and OOO's Gatakiriba forms. The last major insect theme rider series would be Kabuto and before that we only have Kuuga, Agito, and Blade. Japanese kids used to love collecting bugs and Pokemon was suppose to be a game that uses bug catching as a base, so city kids can enjoy bug catching too.

But the insect mechas could have vehicle motif like of the Gouraijers or could be living mechas ?

What are generally considered the best seasons from Gingaman through Boukenger? I don't really hear much discussion surrounding those.
