Haven't had much of a chance to take him out of the packaging to really pose or fiddle with, mostly just checked his joints at this point (legs, especially the right one, are kinda tight..can they break?), but I got CycloneJoker today.

Now I'm scared for when my CJ arrives. If he breaks I'll be pissed. The only reason I got the Figuart was so that I didn't run the risk of breaking the MG Figurise when I get them.

I only felt like I had to use shock oil on Wild Tiger. That's it.
I chose to use it on Ankh simply out of a precaution because it sounded somewhat similar to what people said Tiger sounded like [this being before I had my own]. But otherwise, I don't think it's a huge issue. It doesn't pop up in every figure. Granted, it is the more recent ones where it has been a noted issue, so that might be notable. Many of my older figures are absolute fine. |
Yeah, the leg joint makes a bit of noise when moving it (my Scorpion's right arm does this as well). Should I be concerned?
|
I've never had a SHF break on me yet and I have a bunch at this point. I did use the dry soap technique on the hips of several, but that was mostly out of caution than anything else.
|
So has anyone gotten the SHF Pegasus Kouga? I'm thinking about picking it up and wondering if anyone knows if its good or not.

Awe man. I put in an order on Mandrake for DekaBlue, GokaiBlue with Darin, GokaiGreen with Darin, and GokaiSilver and when I got the payment email link I found out they no longer had the GokaiBlue instock. Dammit!! I was hoping I could clear out everyone but red and yellow right now.

oooh...Tiger IS a great figure...those claw hands are just sexy
|
I keep looking at Tiger and then getting something else instead haha. A month ago, wow has it been that long already..., it was the Scorpion Zodiart and yesterday (holy crap, that was only yesterday?) was W CycloneJoker.
And since I'm not getting any others after I get my preordered Wizard (at least not for a very long time) I gotta hope I made the right call both times. So far it seems I have. |
For anyone who is interested, I got my CJ last week and nothing looks fragile or could break on him other than the cape. So far so good I gess.

So guys...has the preorder for Axe Form gone up yet? I see Phoenix and Walz Gill on Yokatta, but not Axe Form.

Only other complaint I can find with the figure are his leg joints. I'm glad he isn't a floppy mess, but I think mine are a tad too tight, and they are a bit awkward compared to my other Figuart's (save for Black RX because he uses a completely different style), which may be due to the shape of his leg armor I guess, up around where it meets the area where the joint is. It's just kinda hard to get it back into its neutral area if I move it around a bit, feels like it could break. |
He's probably use to the antennas feeling like they are going to break off at the moment they drop. All of the riders are like that, especially Nigo, Ichigo, Skyrider, and Shadow Moon. Hell, my Nigo's right antenna was bent when I first opened him so I thought it was going to break when I bent it back in place. In fact, I still think it is going to break the moment he falls down.
BTW, does CJ have the scarf put on him the same way AkibaRed does? If so, I hate that because the scarf falls off all of the time. |
CycloneJoker came this morning and I'm liking him a lot. There's a few issues with him, though, and some things that I thought would be issues but aren't. His hands are absolutley terrifying to swap to the point where I widened all the holes with a hobby knife to be safe. The driver is really detailed but I missed the green for the Cyclone memory so I painted it and painted in the little "C" and "J" in the windows. The posability is above average though the joints are annoying. Every joint is tight except for his inner shoulders/torso arm joints. They're so loose it makes posing a task. Hopefully they don't get any looser and the rest of the body limbers up so they're not so contrasted. On the subject of quality control he has a single paint drop on his neck and weird scuff marks on his left shoulder. Also there's mould flash on his crest.
I was also pleased to see the eyes are not as tiny in person as they seem in pics, though they might be a smidge undersized. Not a problem, though. Sadly what is a problem is the forehead crest. It's not the size, although it might be a bit big that can be overlooked in head-on views. What can't be overlooked is how it sits on his heaad. Double's head crest angles back on the actual suit. Here, though, it's straight up. When viewed from the side it's completely vertical, and that bugs me to no end. Is there any way to get it off so I could try reshaping the contact point and gluing it back on an angle like it should be? A great figure but I think it'll stay my only Figuart. There's nothing here that has me wanting to jump down the rabbit hole. |
As much as I love both the show and the Figuarts, there are way better SHFs than the Double line. Like Ryuki, they're unbelievably good.
I think the inner shoulder joint I think might be loos-ish on all of my Double figures, I agree it is annoying, because it tends to drop down and look odd, but I love the show enough I don't care. But if there are other shows you like, you should give their figures a chance. Ryuki and Den-O both blow Double out of the water. |

Yes, Red Hawk is really good, not at all familiar with the show it's from, but I had to get it after I saw Vangelus and TJOmega's reviews of it.
The Gokaigers are also good, and I love the Shinkengers. I know everyone else complains about their shoulders, and they are kinda limited, I rarely notice it. |

The only reason Cyclone Joker doesn't have me bouncing off the walls is because, well, with a suit as simple as CJ where he doesn't have any weapons or real acesories, the devil is in the detail. Really if it weren't for the crest being fucked up he'd be way, way better. Everything else is minor at most, wholey forgettable at least. It really just makes me want to tear that crest off and try to reattache it. And since he only cost about $35 to begin with, I can outright ignore all those other faults if I could fix the crest. |
If I'm looking for an over all good figure for the line...the Kabutos are all pretty much awesome. Amazing detail, sexy metallic finishes, joints in all the right places. They really show just what Figuarts are all about.

I do like the look of Gatack.

Fourze was my first Figuart to actually come with a couple of noteworthy accessories, but I always feel a bit troubled when trying to pose and fiddle around with him because I don't want to lose any of his astro switches, plus one of his arms (the right one, which is the one Rocket goes on sadly) is loose. Scorpion was the first near perfect Figuart for me. She comes with a good number of accessories (well, her cloak and switch), joints are all mostly perfect (one of her arms is kinda tight and the shoulder pads are a touch loose), but the detail and paint work on the figure add some points. Cyclone Joker hit everything just right for me. Got him in the middle of watching, and loving, the series. He comes with a good number of hands, even if switching them out is far far harder than any of my other figures, even counting Scorpion, and while I dislike how they connect I love the interchangeable scarfs. The paint work is fantastic, though I wish the Joker side was a touch more of a matte finish, I'll survive. Just a damned good figure. |
Damned good figure. That's a good description. He is a damn good figure. He's just not a perfect figure.
Though he's a bit closer now, as I modded the crest to sit at an angle back. But now he really does look like it's oversized, so I may rip it off again and sand it down and repaint it. |
Actually, I hate to say it, but I think the DekaRangers are my favorite ranger releases. I'm not sure what it is, as I'm not that big of a fan of the show, but the Figuarts for both Red and Blue are incredible.
