At least it's not the new movie versions of the TMNT. I'm glad that they went with the 80's version of the turtles.
|
Official page for Bowser is up already.
He doesn't have elbows or knees. That is an incredible buzzkill. :( |

That's very disappointing. I would have preferred having some articulation in the elbows and knees, even if it meant breaking fluidity. The distracting seam lines on the legs, the lacking articulation, and the rather small size, makes this a pass for me. Don't get me wrong, the sculpt is incredibly nice, but I really think they could have done an overall better job. We've seen them do better. |
Yeah, that's really disappointing about Bowser. He seems to be in a kind of weird place between a regular Figuarts and a Figuarts Zero. Guess I'll be passing on him.
As for the Turtles, it's a cool surprise but I doubt I'll be picking them up. This does make me hope Shredder is somewhere down the line though, I'd definitely be interested in that. |
I wish they made Bowser into a S.H MonsterArts, but oh well.

Ninja Turtles: Cool but pass
Bowser: Will wait for review |
I will buy the TMNT figuarts. It makes sense to do the original cartoon versions as figuarts since the original show was popular in Japan. I have no idea how popular the other versions where in Japan, the original TMNT show did very well for a western animated show in Japan. Most western animated shows in Japan rarely do that great. The original TMNT was popular enough in Japan that it spawn it's own OVA and exclusive toyline in Japan.

I'm surprised Bowser isn't an SHF Zero.
|
Out of all of the versions of Ninja Turtles to choose from, they got with THOSE?! Ugh.
Bowser looks cool but what is up with the lack of articulation? I wish they would show off some new MonsterArts or some actual DBZ stuff that is going to come out in a reasonable timeframe. |
You do know that the original toon versions of TMNT are the most famous and iconic version right? In Japan, they are probably more well known then the other versions. Not to mention, in the US ans the rest world remembers the original TV show and the 90's movies over the other versions.

Seriously tempted by the turtles. I don't really want to jump down another rabbit hole but damn they look great.
Preordered Bowser too. Sucks about the articulation but at least I'm skipping on the accessory packs (though this one is the nicest yet) |

Turtles look awesome, but I’m not into the 80’s show enough to want those. Turtles are also one of the things that are never complete, even if you have all four of them you still need Splinter, April, some villains, most notably the Shredder… don’t want to fall into another rabbit hole so pass.
|
I'll probably get Donatello and Raphael, those two are my favorites and these all look awesome. Did anyone put the TMNT down on the list of things to come out before Kamen Rider Kiva? lol

It looks like Bluefin's release of Ultimate Gohan got pushed to January.
What? o___O Beerus is looking mighty fine though. |

But this is SHF, so I doubt he'll come with a lot of stuff. Still very cool looking and I might buy him anyways considering how much I like the character. Also: That's a really awesome display. Makes no sense, but still awesome. |

Videogame figures were D-Arts ones, this fused with Figuarts, so every videogame / anime-related figure is a regular Figuart now, no matter the size. Bowser would never be a MonsterArt because he is no monster. Godzilla is a monster, Gamera is a monster, Alien and Predator are monsters, Bowser is a videogame character. Of course they could expand beyond Godzilla, Gamera and AvP, but the poor sales of the AvP-stuff and the general lack of new releases in this line, not even Godzilla stuff, make me think they won’t expand the line any time soon. Hell, we’re lucky if the line ever lives up to old release-standards again. |
Bowser is a monster. He is not a humanoid character, he is a giant turtle dinosaur dragon thing. I get what you mean, but I felt like that he would have work better for the SHMA line because of his large size and he is non humanoid character.

Bowser would've been a D-Arts release just like the Pokémon, and since D-Arts doesn’t exist anymore he's a regular Figuart. MonsterArts is for Toku or Science Fiction monsters, Bowser isn't one. |
Russ over at Gundam Planet just got to interview Bluefin and GODDAMN:
-Turtles will be web exclusives in Japan as they are aimed at the american market. The 80's cartoon is THE most popular version of the character in either market though so it's beneficial to both parties. Plan is to construct them with diecast parts. They're currently exploring what other characters from that series to make in this line, taking suggestions. - Advanced Color reissues of SS3 Goku & Perfect Cell ARE happening! Sometime next year. Both will web exclusives in Japan. On the topic of the recolors though they mentioned that while yes Vegeta &Trunks are getting those newly colored reissues, they are also getting BRAND NEW SCULPTS! As is entirely new figures of each of them will be produced later next year in addition to the recolors. These new sculpt figures will be retail releases in Japan! - DBZ sales in the US are double the Japanese sales which is what keeps compelling these releases and recolors. Great news all around! |
Finally a new color version of SSj3 Goku and Cell. Perfect Cell is my favorite DBZ villain ever. I hope we will get SHF SSjG Goku next year too since we are getting Beerus as a figuart soon.
|
Well if we get a new Vegeta and Trunks next year anyways I'm glad I didn’t pre-order the new color versions.
It’s good that I wasn’t excited at the turtles though, Web-Exclusives? Nope. |
While the prospect of a recolour Cell makes me jump for joy, the rest of that I'm going to take with a massive grain of salt. Especially the idea of them getting new mass release sculpts in (what I presume would be) the near future. I'm not opposed to the idea, I'm just not entirely convinced it's going to happen.
Not to mention the fact this is Bluefin talking. Ever since day one they've been distributors with big dreams but often little to show for it. |

Sorry for your luck you foreign bastards :lol

Well I guess I'm going to cancel my recolor Trunks preorder. No need to bother with him if a new one is coming out.
Vegeta though, did they mean a new one of that exact version or just a new one in general (like the blue haired one)? |

Oh we finally get armoured future trunks yea

Anyways back on S.H Figuarts, did they show off anything else new with Digimon at the New York Comic Con? |

As for Vegeta, probably the Buu saga Vegeta with interchangeable Majin face. |
