Hmm...I think, if I ranked KR series, Wizard would be just out of my Top 5, at 6th.
|
Just watched Episode 12 of Kabuto. And I am not enjoying Drake. The suit design is really bland, especially when standing beside Kabuto or TheBee. And Daisuke is.. just really annoying. To the point I was hoping the Worm outright killed him just so he'd never return again. The episode itself was alright. Nice to see Kagami grow a backbone towards the end, even after being dolled up by Daisuke.
And ranking KR? 1) Fourze 2) Kuuga 3) Kabuto 4) Wizard 5) OOO |
1. OOO
2. W 3. Blade 4. Ryuki 5. Den-O 6. Wizard 7. Kabuto 8. Fourze 9. Kiva 10. Decade I still need to finish Faiz and watch Kuuga, Agito, and Hibiki (I'm holding off on Black because I'm assuming we're watching it for the next LWW). |
Out of everything I've finished:
1. Den-O 2. Fourze 3. Kiva |

"What about Wizard?" Hush your mouth. |
Mine is:
1) Fourze 2) W 3) Ryuki 4) OOO 5) Decade 6) Wizard (Yes, I'm aware that in terms of quality Wizard is a better series than Decade. But preference wise I feel I got more enjoyment out of Decade before it turned into a trainwreck). EDIT: Just watched the Ryuki vs Agito HBV. Loved it, was completely worth it to see Knight, Zolda and Ouja as the "allies of justice" :lol. However I'll never be able to see the gold trim on Agito's helmet as anything but a moustache. EDIT EDIT: Aaaand now I've watched 13 Riders too, which I also REALLY enjoyed. It's no real substitute for the real Ryuki, but I'm a sucker for AU stuff and this less complex alternate retelling had me hooked. Despite being an incredibly one dimensional character, I really dug Verde - he had a really unique look and fighting style. That bit where Shinji and Ren were surrounded by all the remaining riders was epic too. I thought both the endings were great, but the real gem was Shinji becoming the new Knight. I have to say, that made me want the Knight Survive figure far more than the series ever did. |
Alright Kamen Rider Kuuga literally put me to sleep, but I might have been exhausted but still other shows have kept me up. I don't think it moves fast enough for me, even in Yuusuke interests me. Thinking of doing Kabuto next or Agito not sure.

While I don't think Wizard is better than W or Fourze, it is a sure as a hell a lot better than OOO (which was pretty good). However, if I were to list the order of my favorite series I have completed, it would probably be like this: Blade W Black Kiva Ryuki Agito Fourze Kuuga OOO 555 Kabuto Den-O Hibiki Black Rx Decade If I included ones I haven't finished yet, Wizard would be right below Fourze and the original would be above 555. |

Started Kamen Rider Kabuto episode 1, now that is a Kamen Rider that has me intrigued. I really like Souji so I can't wait to see how this one goes. I have on my computer, Agito, Kiva, Decade, Hibiki, Ryuki and Den-O I'm going to decide what to watch next. I keep hearing people say good things about Agito, I just want to know is it good paced with good characters?
|
I think I'll finish Faiz next...
|
My list would be
1. W 2. Decade 3. Wizard Because they're the only ones I've seen a significant portion of. :p |

I don't see how Kuuga is slow when it puts its characters in the fore front. Same goes for Agito.
|
It's always interesting to see an opinion on Kuuga and Agito that's not just lathering it in tongue baths...

Kuuga and Agito are very different shows. The focus is more on the characters and ongoing plot, with the action kind of fit in around the edges, although both shows get more action-packed as they go on (and Agito, in general, has more fights than Kuuga). The shows started putting in more fight scenes and less story as they went on, leading us up to shows like Fourze and Wizard where it sometimes feels like there's large stretches with no plot advancement at all. I can't lie and say I don't prefer the older style.

I just recently got back around to watching W again and wow I forgot how good this show is. Just finish the arc were Accel comes in and man I didn't think he would be that big of friggin' butt hole. Although I was very sad to see Kirihiko get offed by his own wife wow talk about cruel.

I've actually put off Kuuga and Agito not out of disinterest, but simple hype. I'm afraid I won't enjoy them as much I should.

It really baffles me when people say Agito has such a great story and great characters when that's practically a lie. The story has barely advanced, the characters have remained almost exactly the same since the beginning, and nothing is explained. I'm tempted to go back and finish it in one night just so I can see if something amazing happens that just distracts people from the first 60% of teh show being an utter non-event. Quote:
And in Agito where the action is "packed around the edges" leads to the action being almost completely disconnected from the story. The fight scenes are so random and badly integrated. There's no flow, fights just happen whenever. They may have added more action as series go on, but it doesn't seem like the amount of story changed at all. They just spend less time sitting around and talking about things we already know. Quote:

On a side note...I hated his boss fight in Crisis Core. |

I've returned to Agito so I can finish the series and evaluate it properly. The pacing has not changed. It's not really that stuff doesn't happen, it's that it just take so long. I managed to grind six episodes and about enough has actually happened to fill three. This show feels like each episode is a full hour in the worst way.
That said, Agito got a new red form that's kinda weird, and Another Agito has shown up. Agito's new form has what's very similar to his normal helmet, shiney and smooth like a typical helmet, but the body suit is much more organic and contrasts badly. Eh. But really there were three episodes that were basically just Gills saying "I'm like Agito?" or someone else saying the two are the same over and over, G3 and Hobo talking about shit we, the audience, have known for five episodes now*, and the eternally awful Mana running away and having a little soul-searchy episode. What pissed me off, though, is that (quite refreshingly) Souichi likewise had a bit of "where do I belong" since I guess he realised he should have a story at some point, right? That's not the bad part, though. What's bad is when he's in his funk and putting these game pieces on a board because he's deep in reflection, and when he fails to answer to Mana's Goddawful pronounciation of his name, she flips his fucking game over. Oh, so it's okay when you have a little hissy fit and run away from home making everyone worry, but the guy who has the weight of the world on his shoulders is feeling, justifiably, down in the dumps and you start throwing shit? Get the fuck out. *That really is the show's biggest problem. Either too much time is spent asking questions that don't get answered until later, or asking questions that were already answered and characters are playing catchup on. It's verbal padding, and because everyone's speech is about as smooth and consisent as a crack addict driving standard, (protip: when a show's subtitles work in an elipses on nearly every line of dialogue, something is horrifically wrong) a lot and I mean a lot of time is spent talking about shit we already know. |
You only watched 6 episodes in one sitting? I watched all of Agito in 4 sittings, and that was actually one too many for me. Usually I get through a 50 episode series in 3 sittings unless I am watching it with friends or something.
|
And here I thought I was doing good when I watched all of Gosei in 7 sittings...

Like damn man people are gonna start wondering where I've been. my friends are gonna have me declared dead if I tried to do that many eps at a time. Quote:
Four sittings, a 49 episode series, let's just make that easy and dice it up to 12 eps a sitting. That's 12 22 minute episodes, 264 minutes total, that's four sittings of 4.4 hours. That's like watching two theatrical movies back to back four times. 3 sittings and I'd be doing deep dramatic breathing on the toilet. |
Kamen Rider Decade episode 5:
It was ok...I guess. Apparently the writers forgot that Garuru, Bashaa, and Doggan aren't Fangires. I don't get how Wataru's dad was able to just take Kivat by force, because it is implied in Kiva that a Kivat must either be passed down to you, or the Kivat must choose you. So, how was Wataru's dad able to just take Kivat by force like that? Yuuske was great, I liked his interactions with Wataru...poor guy got wrecked this episode though...Wataru even dug his fangs into him. I still don't get where this Wataru came from, or why the original Wataru left his world. I liked Tsukasa's speech at the end, and the fight scenes were good. Ryuki's world is next |
