I think it gotta be Gavan or v3. V3 was even in ohranger. A lot of sentai veterans/alumni plays pretty decent supporting roles too in later series. Washi Pink is kind of forgettable especially she can be dubbed by another voice actress. They haven't made a Luka tribute episode yet.

Myself I have to give it to Mr. Izumi. He managed to play two contrasting roles in Changeman and Zyuranger. In Changeman he is the bright Yuma/Change Pegasus while in Zyuranger he played the lone wolf Burai/Dragonranger.

A music themed Sentai sounds like it should have happened sooner now that you mention it, drums for legs, a triangle for the head, a guitar and cello for the arms, a flute sword (As a Zyuranger callback too) and a piano body?

The current Kyuranger ratings and toy sales are good ?

No, ratings aren't great (episode 6 or 7 was the lowest ever for Sentai, beating out a 20+ year record IIRC) the toy sales are projected to get to ToQger levels, but after two years of failures, I don't know if that's an acceptable end point. Though I guess anything in the way of an increase would be good.

Toei could not give less of a shit about ratings, it's all in the toys as that's the show's biggest money maker. Carranger had bad ratings too but it saved Sentai due to MASSIVE toy sales iirc

But, yeah, they do sorta care. At least when they're doing very well. The Decade team was proud of the high ratings the series earned. They don't use them as much of a marker for failure, but high ratings are always a bonus for the people making the show.

Also, Carranger didn't save Sentai. That's a rumor that's been debunked for a while. Jetman was the series that saved Sentai, the cast was outright told that it would be the final season.

I'm not sure how the Carranger rumor happen. I guess in the 90's, someone on the web probably post a rumor that Super Sentai is going to end after Carranger because things didn't look so hot back in 1995.

Sentai has been a strong franchise through toy sales, i don't think will end not anytime soon.

Could the social and political situation of Japan at any given time have influenced the Sentai airing at that time? Ohranger is the one most will fall back-on due to the unfortunate occurrences of its day, but were other series influenced on a more subtle level, such as design and plot. Creators of a series always tend to "sprinkle" a little bit of themselves into a creation, and science fiction usually tends to serve as a metaphor for more realistic social and political debates of its era. Is Super Sentai an exception to the rule, or no less interconnected to the rule?

P.S.: Question could also, technically, apply to any Tokusatsu and not just Sentai.

Regarding equal development, as much as I can remember Dairanger, Megaranger, and Timeranger perhaps?
As for best choice regarding actor casting, I would say Carranger, Megaranger, Dekaranger, Shinkenger, Gokaiger, Kyoryuger, ToQger, and Zyuohger.

My vote is for Dekaranger and Megaranger.

1. Hate it or love it, 1990 was the year of Winspector in both ratings and sales.
2. The show is considered very formulaic or as the cool kids said it a few years back basic despite trying to be different making them siblings and school teachers.
3. Toys, specifically the robots, were pretty much improvements/rehash of Turboranger robots(though I would like to comment that Super Five Robo looks better than Super Turbo Robo proportion-wise).

I remember reading a few years ago that Goggle V was really unpopular in Japan. More recently, I'm pretty sure Toei would love to burn every scrap of evidence that Go-Busters ever existed.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ninninger became the new Go-Busters. Not only did Ninninger sell worse, it was one of the worst selling shows in the entire franchise. If only I could remember which show sold worse. Ninninger, Gekiranger, or Timeranger.

Geki had a huge following in Korea. Toy sales and ratings were ABSURD. Wonder how well the eventual Shout Factory DVDs of Geki and Time will sell though

I doubt they would cancel a franchise that's been printing money for 40+ years over a single flop. Especially since the flop in question came after a Sentai that was extremely successful.

Toys for shows aim at young boys will keep things going even if the show has low ratings. The same goes for anime aim at young boys too (Dragon Ball Super is making a lot of money from merchandise sales).
