I think some people are misreading or exaggerating what's being said here. Like no where does it mention that Hasegawa wanted Gotchard to be a "dark" and "mature" show. It just mentions Haegawa prior history with Ultra and how he likes to write stuff with heavier drama. At best, maybe some of his initial scripts had heavier elements that they decided to scale back on.

Also, while Gotchard was initially conceptualize to not have a "main villain" so to speak, the idea to include one with the three sisters came from Hasegawa himself.

I take it that they wanted a pre-Kai Den-O approach with maybe a main villain appearing around the second half of the show if needed.

Personal Opinion Time:

BurningGorilla's forearms are totally the Punching Kong Gauntlets, just with flames and Habeneros on them. Personally I don't mind, they're both Gorilla themed, why not reuse the prop?

NeedleHawk is cool, it honestly looks like a power up form more than anything.

What I'm not thrilled about is that all three forms only have armor on the upper to mid-body. In fact, every form since AppareSkebo has only armored up the upper body...

It's probably the Geats issue here. Having too much bulky lower body armor makes doing stunts a lot more difficult than upper body armor.

As for my own opinions, I like the look of all of them, regardless of the unarmored lower halves. I think NeedleHawk easily shot itself up to being one of my favorites Gotchard forms, especially since they dashed my hopes of ever seeing a proper Rider form for EnergyMaru. I was robbed of an energy drink ninja.

At least, I'm glad Gotchard's legs have that silver trim which matches his silver hands. Makes him seem just a little less naked than most of the DGP Riders. The black and red colors of BurningGorilla make it blend in better as well. But yeah, I hope we get more leg armor for some of the future forms. It's a must for BunnyParka!
