You have to take the footage as presented, which he does. Just watching the Sentai colors his opinion (As it does everyone's). Acknowledging the Sentai is what he does. He's not referencing it or judging against it.

Put simply, if you did a retrospective of Season 3, it'd be MMPR S3 vs. Kakuranger, not a fair judgment of S3 alone.

I have to disagree with you. Up until recently, I had never watched a single episode of Super Sentai. The only reason I began watching was because I thought I would give Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters a chance. However, many years before I even knew about Super Sentai, I heard about Power Rangers through a fellow classmate in my kindergarten class. Granted, I didn't regularly watch Power Rangers due to the fact that my parents didn't want me to, but I still cared about the series. I learned about Super Sentai after about four years of watching Power Rangers. It took another four just to give Super Sentai a chance. Does the time period where I knew about Super Sentai but didn't watch it make me a horrible Power Rangers fan? No; it just made me a person who was a fan of Power Rangers and acknowledged the existence of Super Sentai. Furthermore, I don't think that the majority of American children who were fans of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers when it originally aired even knew what a Sentai was. The same can be said about most Power Rangers fans today. Why? Because they're all children. The typical Power Rangers fan is a human male 4- through 8-year-old. This demographic usually does not even know about Super Sentai. By saying that because of their ignorance towards Super Sentai, they are horrible fans is calling the majority of Power Rangers fans horrible fans.

What I'm saying is that, though they share footage and ideas, Power Rangers and Super Sentai are different shows with different fanbases.

How is it bad that he doesn't like one part of the whole thing? That would be like saying I can't be a fan of toku because I don't like Kamen Rider all that much. And that kinda goes for any sort of show that was based off of another. Just because he doesn't like one half of it, doesn't mean he's a horrible fan.

And this isn't me dickriding him and going into a stupid fanboy mode, I'm just saying how what I think of your opinion. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm not saying you're right.

I'm gonna eat some crow, I was irritated with linkara after the spd review, and his aforementioned comment about not caring for the sentai it was based on. I read discussion on the mystic force video elsewhere and just not got around to watching it.

you know what, listening to what he is saying, he has a point. So I'm gonna admit where I was wrong. I wished there was more comparisions from the sentai, but I now know where he is coming from

Watched it, wasn't all that impressed tbh. Considering these videos are getting longer and the series are getting shorter, they feel a bit more glossed over to me.

Unless I completely missed it (I was multitasking during watching most of it), did he even talk about the Titan Megazord in any real detail? Or its dragon mode? Or the battlizer for that matter? Mystic Force is one of the few series with a genuinely GOOD battlizer.

I'm not saying these things needed a great deal of time devoted to them, but they are all at least worth a mention. Especially when the first 20 mins was unrelated BS.

He did mention the battlizer, but didn't comment much on it. It was pretty much a "It's not bad. Don't like the additional blue."

No mention on the Titan Megazord and he brings up the dragon mode once while summarizing a specific episode.

And I've noticed he's stopped commenting on the Megazords altogether, only ever bringing them up when they get a new one or when they get destroyed. It's a sour point with me because he dickrides the MMPR "Nothing can ever top it" so hard I want to know why all these other zords are falling short.

Oh, and the Sentai vs. PR thing was only, like, 7 minutes...

I was admittedly being hyperbolic, but it sure felt a lot longer than 7 minutes.

I'm guessing you've never actually watched HOPR, because he says quite often he has no disdain towards Sentai, and says that outright in the Mystic Force video.

Because he's not reviewing sentai?

How is reviewing Sentai in any way going to improve his analysis? Comparing it to something PR is in no way trying to emulate or match the standards of, instead of judging the shows standalone how most fans of Power Rnagers growing up would have.

Funny, because you'd think being only a fan of PR and not making comparrisons to something completely unrelated would make him the best PR fan, because he's just a fan of PR and judges it by it's own standards.

But that's not his job. That's like if someone did a history of Sentai series and completely ignored PR. It's not the point of the videos. I'm sure someone out there has done comparrisons, but that's not Linkara's mission statement.

I am miffed that he completely ignored the Megazord, because I think the Titan Megazord is one of the best. But I feel like it was left out because of the bit addressing the Sentai comparrisons, which he wouldn't have to do if people would get the idea and stop emailing him about it.

It's pretty sad when a series you do for fun has so many people badgering you about irrelevant things that you have to take time out of the videos to explain what should be very obvious. (regarding the bit in Wildforce where he explained the time gaps between videos)
