Wait, what the hell? Why are they changing it from Yellow to Blue?

With the relationship they are trying to build between Gia and Jake, it would make more sense to keep it the way it was in the Jp footage.

Because Gia is a girl and girls are gross and they're only on the show to keep people from complaining that they aren't. They get one episode and then they go stand in the corner until someone needs a sandwich.

Ok, got a better question than Jake: why did Emma's GekiRed have a skirt? Know it was more a GekiYellow turned red, but thought they kept the true form or that Ranger? Thought there was no gender-switching?

Because in the Gokaiger footage, they altered the costumes to match a female ranger's usual design, a skirted suit. And same for if say Joe or Doc changed into a costume that belonged to a girl. The skirt would be removed.

Didn't you notice how Mystic Yellow suddenly had a skirt and blue didn't?

Yeah, that's what I was trying to say in earlier post. Geki Red looked like Geki Yellow. Ah, well.

And the Jake is now Blue issue I think speaks to Ziggys notice of the morphing explosions. I think the writers were giving us a nod.

This was actually a very very well done episode. I totally enjoyed it and they did a lot of things right and it felt more like Power Rangers. I loved Megaforce and this was just a whole lot better. The only problem was the Super Mega everything, but that's just bad naming conventions.

Right. Finally managed to find a way to watch it.

I have to say that while this doesn't give me the goosebumps that say the two-part opener of lost galaxy did (in all it's starship troopers glory), it was pretty damn good. The acting while pretty bad it wasn't nearly as awkward as I find the acting in mmpr season one.

All in all I think people are nitpicking, because frankly that wasn't a bad adaption.. naming conventions aside. And while the pirate theme is glossed over, its not hard to see its there. So to me it's less ignoring it and more while yes we don't want to draw real life allusions to Somalia its so overt we really shouldn't make a big deal out of it.

I think you have to watch it in the mindset of a kid. And in that sense, this episode was a complete success. Full of plenty of different looking rangers, fun action scene throughout the ENTIRE episode. If as many boys watch it as Saban Brands thinks then I'd say they're on to a winner.

A thought about missing tributes: We're talking about adapting a show which has a decade more stuff that power rangers. If any episode has a big pre-zyu influence in it, then they're just as likely to skip it altogether than they are to overlay a different ranger onto the footage. We're talking about a show that gives little time, money or effort to get a series airing. Why spend more money... If my memory of Gokaiger serves they are pretty liberal with they pre-zyu henshins...

Damn, I love Gokaiger. I think the action in that first episode might be among the best Sentai action sequences ever filmed. So it was nice seeing it again.

But I won't be watching this. Power Rangers remains a franchise whose stewardship I question at every turn.

No, the Ranger Key powers conform to the user. Girls get girl suits and boys get boy suits regardless of the original. You will not see Blue in a skirt and you won't see Yellow without a skirt (save for the teams that have no skirts). It happens at least 5 times in this episode (not counting the intro).
