I thought Koda wasn't going to premiere yet until the second or third episode since he is a caveman and such.

I was thinking on the same lines, since Kendall seems to be the mission control for this season, maybe she Chase already know all about the villains and energems, hence they going around with the caveman they very well might have thawed.
