I've enjoyed it so far, but I've stuck with it purely for Kinji. Also, I have a heart for Fuuka.
Unfortunately I feel like the mecha designs are pretty weak, just slamming together as many things as possible. Same for the MOTW designs. Just blah. One thing that was just sublime last season was the Shadow Line and the Kurows, which makes it hard to top. I'm glad they stopped making every story about Takaharu who does absolutely nothing but scream about how hot things are, and still manages to be the best through brute force. The only singular time I felt there was anything to him was the one episode that showed him practicing late at night with Fuuka, where he appeared internally driven. At least King's (Kyoryuger) story line was a little more humbling for the second half. Right (ToQger) suffered the same problem, very little depth. I will still contend that over the last couple of seasons, Captain Marvelous (GoKaiger) and Takeru (Shinkenger) have been the better Red leaders, because their characters were not one dimensional. Hiromu from Go-Busters really doesn't rate either, since his issues were more fowl than the others. |

The recent eps were alright.

Why does this trope exist? |

children make mistakes, those characters make mistakes. they're relatable to kids. like, Takeru probably wasn't as relatable to kids as Mako or Chiaki were. |
I've been enjoying it from the beginning, but now that I'm caught up I really like where it's been going, especially with Kyuuemon. I'm really interested to see where it goes from here, especially since we're starting to get close to the end.

So, i've always wondered and Google has been of no help: what excactly does "wasshoi" mean in this context? Also, what are the exact words that Kinji and Taka use when they say "I'm getting fired up" "no hiding for us" and "hiding doesn't stop party night"? I'm gonna cosplay one of the two character and want to say some of their catchphrases, but I can't quite make out what they're saying.

Wasshoi is an exclamation that's sort of like when a pirate shouts "Heave Ho!" It's like, a call to work together, or a sort of self-congratulation that your group succeeded by working together. "I'm getting fired up" is "燃えて来た" (moete kita). "Moete" literally means "on fire," and "kita" means "came." Given the context, Takaharu is saying "My 'on fire' came." But because that doesn't make sense, Over-Time translated it to something more colloquial. Their opening cry is, "Shinobinare domo shinobanai! Shuriken Sentai Ninninjaa!" which literally means "even though we're shinobi (another word for ninja), we don't conceal ourselves! Throwing-Star Squad Ninninger." Over-Time translates it as "the shinboi who don't remain hidden! Etc..." "No hiding for us, we're running wild," from what I can tell is, "shinobu dokoro ka abareru ze!" This is the one I'm least clear on. I think it literally means "Far from hidden, we're rampaging." (I think? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.) "Hiding doesn't stop party night," is actually, "shinobinare domo Party Night." It literally means "even though I'm a shinobi, it's party night." Shinobi, in addition to being another word for ninja, means "concealed" and/or "hidden." This phrase is sort of a play on words which probably makes it difficult to translate. |
