i did not expect that
i thought it was going to be a generic teen animal loving freaks who got super powers to stop a generic bad guy and a packed of lazy corny jokes but this is a really creative and the main hero is not as annoying as the previous one an animal world to explore and a human world the opening theme is meh i still wold'v loved for them to stay in animal form for the rest of the series this dos remind me of the 2000 sentai timerangers in a way. |
To be fair, the bad guys were kind of generic. While it is the first episode and things can change, the Deathgalians were basically the Zangyack, except replace Warz with Ackdos from the very start.

since this is an opening episode and the main focus is on show casing and selling the main heroes & toys the Tsundere elephant felt like a plot ripoff just to drag things and i kinda like these type of characters. |
That first episode blew Ninninger's out of the water, which was poorly-paced compared to this.
As for the criticisms of how rushed it felt, the villains, character types, etc, all I'll say is that you can only reinvent the wheel so many times until things start repeating. Do the villains remind me of Zangyack? Yes. That doesn't mean they can't play things out differently. Do some of the main cast feel like character types we've seen before? Yes, but that's nothing new. We've had plenty of sentai before with cliches like the serious member who's not a team player, the goofball, the motherly type, etc. so seeing them again shouldn't be all that surprising anyway. I care more for what they do with the content rather than whether t's original enough or not. |
Everything was sooooooooooo rushed, we got character chemistry development, villain establishment, first team transformation, mecha, mecha gattai, ALL in ONE episode. Was pretty overwhelmed by it, but I do think this show has promise to be a VERY good 40th Super Sentai Anniversary. Just slow it down bro, lol.

I didn't think it felt rushed, but that's probably down to seeing the start of a season so many times.
I do agree that too much was understood too quickly. We make certain concessions with things, like that people are a lot more adept at piloting big robots than they should be. That's fine. Something as simple as Yamato knowing to press "1" just takes me out of it for a second, wondering how he knew. Quote:
Overall, I enjoyed it. I have a difficult time envisioning how the rest of the season will feel. I think that's a good thing. |
In my head, I explain the grasp of their transformation and everything as "instinct" because it seems like from the get-go this episode pushed animistic instinct as a driving force. Of course that makes more sense for the Zyuman's than Yamato, but then again at this point we don't know his situation yet. He could be half Zyuman or something. On top of that, the Champion Symbols were able to magically make the Zyumans look human, so the cubes also unlocking the instinct to press a particular button within its user doesn't seem entirely unbelievable to me.
