Agreed I expect if the past mecha theme is true then they wil lbe INSPIRED by past mecha, unfortunately I can't help but think of Shurikenjin with its very mismatched elements. I know not matching was the theme, covering various aspects of japan but I still cant help but think of something like that.
As for the double esque half and half theme thats interesting if that makes its way into the mecha i could see maybe that be for the aux mecha and be a way to fit in a lot of the other seasons themes without needing AS MANY mecha. Like doing some half and half thing based on 2 similar seasons. |
I would love if the motif and theme of the next sentai is just Mecha.

Okay so, if Zenkaiger's theme is inspired from mecha's from past seasons, do you think Hasbro would take notice? Of course all of this is too early to tell but I can't imagine Hasbro passing up on riding the nostalgia train

I’m not saying Hasbro couldn’t adapt Zenkaiger in 2 years, after Dino Fury. They totally could. But I’m of the opinion that the show will have too much baggage to work around for them to be extremely interested. |

D'oh. You guys are right. Me just rambling about what Hasbro may or may not do based on those Toei split rumors.
Way more excited about Zenkaiger anyway than whatever Hasbro cooks up. The magazine preview goes up in December right ? |

I've always believed that these unadapted Sentai could still be used, even if it's in a reduced capacity (no Super/Season 2). Get the main brunt of them and then you won't have dumb issues like this again. The other side of this is the possibility that an anniversary season convinces Hasbro to lean into that rumor (which I don't fully believe), and does its own thing and ignores Sentai for the foreseeable future. This is something that could and probably should be done, but not at the expense of foregoing the relationship with Toei. Take a break from Sentai if nothing else and lean into original material, then see if adapting a Sentai after that is a good idea. I do wish Hasbro would bother to retcon the blunder that is Super Megaforce "New Powers"! |

It's obviously not a given that Dino Fury will be the last Toei adaptation, but when all signs point to Hasbro giving up on the Sentai-adaptation model for Power Rangers, you really have to start taking that proposition seriously. |
Just a conjecture (also a prediction):
Seems like toei is (probably) repeating the colour schemes of the past rangers starting from the 1st super sentai, gorenger and their analogous counterpart that is kiramager Gorenger - Kiramager (RBYPG) JAQK - Zenkaiger (RBGP + W)? - yup no yellow BFJ - ??? (R(W), B(W), G(K), O(Y), P(B)? ... etc If this turns out to be true, the 50th anniversary super sentai will be following Goggle V - red, black, blue, yellow and pink Why i think this way and the rationale behind it? Its because of the trademarks, rumours-infos and vague toylisting teasers from a magazine 1)The toylisting teasers from a magazines (and bandai) mentions about 4 unknown mecha surrounding a central mecha 2) reliable clues-rumours mentions explicitly 4 named past mechas and 1 vague new? mecha (mach) Looks like toei is doing some kind of "rebooting" with the supersentai with the new era (reiwa) starting with kiramager. |
Well mecha wise if they are BASED on past mecha IF hasbro doesn't break up with Toei I honestly dont see that acting as a barrier. Theres one thing to adapt mecha INSPIRED by past seasons, its another to fit in PAST teams that we've never seen before.
In theory- if the mecha are based on past mecha- why not just ignore the anniversary aspect for a PR season. OR if we have to find some way to work the skipped team in do something along the lines of Saikyo battle. Say a online only 4 ep special that sorta looks at some teams in other planets/dimensions/timelines. Hell i think that would of been a perfect way to solve the "never before seen" BS as well. We know the comics gave us some explanation for Super Sonic(fiveman). Why not do a few shorts that use a mix of archived footage from the seasons and a few random actors. OR hell that'd be a perfectly acceptable animated mini series in my opinion. What's with this new train themed mecha- Option 1 Bullshit it and say its based on Travellion, Railmax, or uh what was the one from RPM? Its not like ToQger is the only season with a train mecha after all. Cube animals might be harder to bs of course. Option 2- via a series of 5 minute shorts- maybe even a "motion comic" style to save on animation costs. Get some glimpses into multiple worlds and such. Jetman rangers could be from a race similar to Zenowing from Dino Charge- maybe they are FROM the same universe as the dino charge rangers just from say Avian 4 or something like that. How do we deal with the Squadron suits? simple again drop them on some other planet and instead of using the thunderzords we know they use aura constructs shaped like some slightly altered verisons of them. So Squadron red goes into battle inside a giant red aura dragon instead of on a flying red metal dragon. Maybe they were Rangers from eltar or something even and thats why Zordon based the white ranger powers on their designs feeling a little homesick. But yeah theres ways to get past the anniversary roadblock i feel. Especially if the mecha are more inspiredby thme like ow Boukenger villains were based on past mecha - Ryuwon for example was based on Daizyujin.. the series didnt dwell on that no one in boukenger was like "OMG he looks like the Daizyujin" The real issue will come in if the sentai gear have say the ToQger helmet on them or something thats a LITTLE harder to work around but again all they'd need to do would be set up a website that either has a motion comic, or hell just do mini profiles for these mystery teams. Acknowledge them name thier world dont go TOO in depth so if you want you can revist them later. "The Bird Rangers of Avia 4- A team of rangers from a distant world, they protected their home world from (Insert villain group name here)" But yeah IF hasbro is indeed stepping away from toei after Dino Fury S2 then this wont matter at all. If they aren't well we can only hope that IF Zenkai is sentai reference heavy then we get some sort of brief descriptions of these other teams since that I think is what made fans mad. I mean I think i read something like SMF blew the budget reshooting stuff early on so they couldn't afford to reshoot where it mattered (namely scenes with the squadron rangers and such) But even including the Pre zyu stuff I dont think would of been an issue if we had gotten some sort of blurb bout each one. Even if it was just on an official website. We know earth isn't the only world with rangers the Aquitar Rangers, and Trey of Triforia prooved this. |
