I'm up to Episode 2 but from what I can gather from a lot of the previews the show has more direction than it has had in awhile with N and Team Plasma taking center stage.
The first ep was pretty much a first ep of Pokemon, introducing new viewers to the concept of Pokemon via the new girl (who I have to admit was adorably annoying with her overthinking). Team Rocket seems a lot more competant than in previous series though their obsession with Pikachu just ruins whatever momentum they have. N might be shaping up to be the reason I keep following the series. Aside from the fact that he's voiced by the dude who voice Oreki from Hyouka, he seems to be the catalyst to the story. |
I mainly watch because it's easier to find torrents and downloads than it is episode streams. I don't know why, it just is.
Granted, I'm not keeping up, but I am currently tempted. |
charizard has been popular since the begining of the pokemon era.heck in the trading card he was the most valuable back in the days and its still is now.anything charizard related always gets fans hyped up thats why alot of cards or items thats certainly charizard gets to be big money makers in the market.while I do hope the series will pick up since b/w did well in the begining and then it just went down

Mewtwo is definitely just in the movie to sell his D-art better. Sure there's the whole me and Genesect aren't meant to exist angle , but I imagine the movie would have done fine without him popping up. Charizard is probably more a mixture of sales and nostalgia, than just out right ' we need to get this guy back in the public consciousness' sort of thing. As matrix said, he's always been popular, but you can't deny the timing of it seems rather convenient.

Until then, though, I still stand by coincidental timing. These episodes are made well in advance, so I'm unsure to call it a tie-in. Mewtwo, definitely, since movies are handled differently, but not Charizard. Quote:

For all the grief I gave Ruby/Sapphire I can't deny some of my team mainstays still come from that Gen. The definitive Grass type starter to me is still Treecko and my most reliable Flying type of all time was this Swellow I had, the only Pokemon of that Gen I managed to train up to Level 100.
I'm not saying they won't remake R/S yet but with a new graphics system out soon I can see them going for a quick Gen 1 remake. Speaking of which, does anyone have a spare Salac Berry they can trade off with any Pokemon? My Black 2 Friend Code is 1206 8519 8487. |

To this day, the only starter I've never trained now is Mudkip :p Anyway, while Gen 3 did introduce me to my favorite Pokemon of all time (Milotic), two of my favorite starters (Sceptile and Blaziken, A FLAMING CHICKEN!), my favorite "Trio" (Regis/Golems), and my favorite Legendary (Deoxys), I actually didn't really like the games that much :lol |

Question is, is it Mewtwo? The official material seems to insist that it's a totally new Pokémon. Check out the language from the official site: "The mysteries of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y continue to grow with the unveiling of a Pokémon that is strangely familiar! It looks a lot like the powerful Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo, but not quite the same…" Or from their Facebook page: "We're excited to reveal a newly discovered Pokémon! This mysterious new Pokémon looks curiously similar to the Legendary Mewtwo…" |

Also, aren't there X and Y versions of it? |
i like it, i think it pretty cool. if this a new pokemon that would nice but im ok with an new from for mewtwo as long as its it fits in the store well

Also official sites have tried to pass off new formes as new Pokemon in the past. Keldeo being the most recent example. |
I had hoped it was fake at first, but seeing it in game and the full art for it I gotta say I'm now digging it quite a bit. I'm not sure how I feel about all these different formes, don't know if its a cool idea or getting overused now...
How beautiful does the new footage look though? I know its the same grass field, but damn the pokes look good. |

Yeah, it's totally a new Mewtwo forme.
And all they did is take his tail, cut it off, and stick it to his head. I am not a fan at all. |
Oh dear Arceus, why have they made this?
|
I can live with the new forme. As long as it is toggleable between each, after all, I keep my Giratina in mainly its Ghost form. Not sure where are the viritol is coming from though. I figured this would be as good as any other way to reintroduce Gen 1 to the current Pokemon fans who may or may not be familiar with R/G/B/Y. It might be sign of things to come games wise.

Personally i dont mind this if it is a form for mewtwo. Although there is also the rumor that its a new pokemon all together, which wouldnt be bad either.

There is a precedence for having the player unable to select which form they want. While recent games haven't been form locking, we don't know if they're giving the player a choice in the matter, yet. Also, the "Ain't broke/don't fix it" mentality stems from Mewtwo's stats, where the only area he's lacking being defenses (At 90 instead of 100). For Mewtwo, there's really not much reason to change him. |
So well, it turns out that it is a new Mewtwo forme after all. I guess it was to be expected but kind of a shame.

Has anyone been watching the new Pokemon series episodes? They are surprisingly good! I don't think I've ever seen Pokemon take a more story-driven approach like this. It actually has me hooked to see how N's story progresses in the anime. Plus Charizard is back and we will be seeing a legendary play a more critical role in the series. What brought about this change I wonder?

I watched Charizard's return episode a few weeks back. It's good to see him back on the team.
Anyway, I find it ironic that Ash has Pikachu and Charizard on his team when the games made it a point to not include any past gen Pokemon. |
Yeah, I think it's just for fanservice (get your heads out of the gutter!) that Charizard is back. Pikachu, however, is the mascot of Pokémon, and Nintendo likes milking their franchises. A lot. So Pikachu can NEVER leave.
What's in the Bata spot in PkmnMstr's avatar? |

Which fans are they servicing, again? :lol |

New Pokemon?
Neat. Much like the starters, Mewthree, and Syvleon, none of them tickle my fancy. It's not like I hate them. It's just that none of them are wowing or impressing me right now. The panda looks nice, but meh. |
I'm digging Gogoat, mostly for the fact you can ride him. And I love Electric types, so the new move with the Electric/Normal guy has me interested.

Or M2A...
Bottom line, doesn't matter what it's called we all know what we're talking about =) I'm actually now holding off on the regular Mewtwo D-art in the hopes they make his new form, really dig it. I think Slyveon is my least favourite Poke so far. Forgot to mention how it's nice that we can at least edit our character a little bit now, definitely a step in the right direction. I also hope all Pokemon calls get a major overhaul now the devices can play 'proper' music and whatnot... doubt it'll happen but eh, you never know. |
