But the later the PRs season the less cheap it looked (for the most part). I think Lost Galaxy would have worked better in a later season, the whole story felt too epic for their budget and technology at that time. It did really annoy me that Ninja Storm basically had no conflict or tension but the action sequences were great and I liked the characters. I think they're the best representation of teenagers that Power Rangers has managed. And yeah a lot of people dislike Mystic Force. |

As for Lost Galaxy...eh, I dunno. It's not like they knew thwy would have a bigfer budget in the later seasons |

They may have even smaller budgets now, but we can do more with tech now and for cheaper. |

With all that you're saying, I'm beginning to wonder how you made it through Ninja Storm. One of my most vivid memories from that season involve the camera zooming in on Lothor's face utilizing the most obnoxious angles possible. You must like it a lot to suffer through that... |
Speaking of PR, I recently started rewatching SPD, because I liked SPD.

The other comedy series had bad acting, awful characters, crap writing and absolutely nothing memorable other than how bad they were. Ninja Storm is by no means one for the history books but I find the all out comedy seasons always the lowest type of Power Rangers seasons and Ninja Storm is just the best of the bottom of the barrel. |

SPD was awesome. I loved that show, one of the series I actually weathered against Disney's/Jetix's eclectic time slots just to continue watching it. |
I don't really remember much of SPD, but from what i saw it was awesome!

Back to In Space for a bot...why are they back in high school again? Their interactions on the ship and the Surf Shack are a lot better. From what I can tell on thos current episode...TJ and Carlos didn't even bother going, yet Cassie and Ashley did, so...
Also, I'm not sure which is dumber. Professor Phenomonous and his obsession with proving that aliens exist...which they clearly do in PR. Or the public for not believing him. |

I really like the Astro Megazord. It just has that look. I remember not liking it at first when I was a kid. Probably because it wasn't a five part combining mech like all the previous ones or something.

Just finished up the first season of Beetleborgs. I have mixed feelings overall - if I'd been watching a kids show where it was obviously about kids in a haunted mansion filled with various monsters it would be a great show. But that's the problem, it isn't supposed to be that. I don't dislike any of the Hillhurst monsters, in fact in moderation I enjoy them quite a lot. But the show centres around them far too much and often the Beetleborg footage is second to it.
My biggest beef with the show is how pathetic the villains are. They literally can't do anything right. Vexor maybe could if he could be bothered to actually do anything other than sit in the cemetery scheming. Thankfully there are arcs with great villains, such as the Shadowborg arc and then the 2-part finale. I don't remember Metallix all that well, but Nukus is a pretty great villain. The show probably features the most obvious footage gaff I've ever seen too. The Japanese footage shows the guns as grey, while in the US footage they're...pink and purple. Seeing it flip flop between the two 5 or 6 times in one fight seen is REALLY jarring. So disappointing, but not as terrible as I was expecting it to be. For what it's worth I enjoyed the trip down memory lane and it will have to suffice until B-Fighters is fully subbed. (Which will be never :( ) |
Could perhaps the "What are you watching? ([X] Edition)" threads be pinned to the top? They're arguably the most important and popular threads we have and this American Edition one gets lost in the sea of polls...
Anyway, I've decided to start re-watching PR Turbo. If it's as bad as everyone says, then wish me luck. |

Okay, watched the first 3 episodes of Turbo (Technically, I'm posting this as I watch the 3rd episode, but whatever :p)
Anyone who calls Justin a worse actor than Tommy is a fucking liar. That boy acted circles around JDF in the 90's. |

Larigot is just as stupid as he was 15 years ago, though. Freaking hate that Furbus ripoff. |

Justin builds a homing device out of a radio.
Holy hell. Billy needed access to all this pseudo science BS and command center tech. Justin just needs a radio and a soldiering gun. |

I'm 4 episodes in, and the worst things about this series so far are the former Zeo/MMPR actors. If you let Linkara's History of the Power Rangers color your opinion, you should really re-watch it yourself. He's so rabidly butthurt over this series he brought up and pointed out every minor problem (Issues he blatantly let slide (Or straight up refused to bring up) during MMPR and Zeo) just to color Turbo as worse than it actually is. Turbo is not a good show, don't get me wrong. But it's not bad for a PR series considering what came before and what's to come later. |
Yeah, Turbo isn't unwatchably bad as everyone makes it to be. I mean I find Divatox annoying and her monsters give me nightmares, but that's my only complaint. Otherwise, I just find yhe show completely weird aside from tthose awesome last two episodes.
Also the best episode with the old cast is 14. Solely because of the bizarre attitude shift Adam pulls near the end due to Sentai footage. |
I'm honestly surprised at how watchable Turbo is turning out to be, compared to just downright terrible MMPR and Zeo were.
Everyone is free to their own opinion and you can call Turbo the worst series ever. But, 10 episodes in, right now all I ask is for you to form your own opinion, not to let the internet form it for you. |
Just marathoned 14 episodes of PR Turbo.
There are 3 huge issues, two of which are commonly brought up, one which is strangely ignored. First are the villains. I hate Elgar. Divatox is an idiot, and Rhygog and the other one never do anything. The Piranhatrons are lame, and the monster designs leave a lot to be desired. The second are the plots of the week. They're completely dumb. Granted, they're on par with MMPR's plots of the week, so I don't have much issue with them as a whole. Doesn't make them less stupid And the third is the acting. JDF and Johnny Bosch turn in particularly weak performances, Catherine isn't doing much better. Only Nakia and Blake turn in adequate to passable performances. It's annoying because Blake performs one bad scene as Justin and the internet is reeling and mocking him as terrible, but JDF and Johnny consistently turn in crap after crap after crap and they get free passes. And I love Johnny. His skills do improve and he's a cool guy, but in Turbo era, he was doing a crap job, but "Oh, Justin said this one line awkwardly he's thus the worst character ever." :I Anyway, 4 more episodes until the Passing of the Torch and I get TJ and the like. Hopefully they're better. I know during In Space Selwyn and co do decent performances, but I'm not sure on Turbo. |
Okay, finished Passing the Torch part 1 and 2.
Decent episodes. Got introduced to TJ, who needs an acting coach, and Cassie, who desperately needs acting lessons. That aside, it was...Eh. Watchable. I liked the flaming car. Also, http://i.imgur.com/e1skG3g.png Window Ranger Watches you masturbate. |
I've never one to be overly critical of the MMPR/Zeo cast (I know they aren't the best actors, but I deal with it) but I agree when it comes to Turbo Justin seems to run rings around them. Its almost like since they all know they were leaving they just decided to phone it in for the rest of their run.
The big changeover is actually where the acting starts to get better. Plus Hilary Shepard Turner comes back as Divatox so things pick up a little bit on the villain side too. |
Quote:
Anyway, Cassie's acting is on par with JDF and Johnny's, meaning it's not that good. TJ could use some work, and Ashley and Carlos are average (Billy/Zach levels, not good, but not terrible). They just don't get enough lines for me to really pay attention or notice it, these last 3 episodes have been rather TJ and Cassie centric. |
