GARO: The One Who Shines in Darkness ep.1
Everyone seems to like GARO, so I gave it a shot. It wasn't bad, but I really wouldn't call it a tokusatsu. Not just because all the effects were CG, but because there's so few of them. You see Garo proper for what, 8 seconds? That's not what I'd call a tokusatsu, but it is a pretty good action/drama thing. I'm probably going to watch more at some point. |
Wait, have you not watched the first 2 series? You should watch those first.

Gomen Rider finished a scrub of Garo's subtitles ages ago. Makai Senki, the second season, is readily available from Over-Time.
|
GARO Makai Senki Episode 14: Yay more Makai Knights! Wataru/Thunder Knight Baron (This won't get confusing at all with Kamen Riders lol) is quite awesome and I love his Blue armor and sword. This evil Makai Priest is getting quite intense here. I loved seeing Tsubasa again he was one of my favorites from the movie, and I love his determination. I also loved Kouga attitude about making sure no one died and saving Wataru's life and not killing Tsubasa with that attack was great. Gajari I believe it's name is, is very interesting. I hope we get more into trying to stop the Seal but I don't think it's an easy thing to do.

i've been watching the Chouseishin Series and i finished rescue force now i just need to find a good subbed rescue fire.
|
GARO Makai Senki Episode 15: Ah so Wataru was Kouga's teacher that's really cool. I feel really bad for Kouga so not only did he lose his father when he was young, he lost three of his best friends. It was great to see all the potential Makai Knights in training. I personally think this might lead to something more. I hope we see more of Baron though, his sword and Blue armor are sweet. I am glad Kouga avenged his friends finally.
GARO Makai Senki Episode 16: Wow so much in this episode. Well first of all the action was top notch in this especially with Rei and Kouga fighting together which is awesome. I am happy Kaoru figured out her last page too. Now Leo being Red Mask I kind of put together over the last few episodes and it makes a lot of sense, though I think he is possessed or something. Anyways onto the next episode. GARO Makai Senki Episode 17: Sure Garo, make me feel feelings and all, and feel bad for Kaoru and what she has to put up with because she knows of Kouga's duty but get torn up inside and start crying. I loved seeing Rekka back she is one of my favorite Makai Priests. Interesting to see what Red Mask is up to with releasing the horror here. The next episode looks exciting. GARO Makai Senki Episode 18: Well I never liked Latus anyways I never trusted him. I understand where the Priests are coming from but the Knights are important. So Leo wasn't Red Mask this makes it even more interesting and I love his Armor. I don't know how this happened but I am super happy that Leo became a Knight. Kouga was totally badass taking out so many in that Horror Cave. I am happy Rekka is on the Knight's side and wasn't happy too. Well I can't wait for more. GARO Makai Senki Episode 19: Leo's armor is awesome and I can't wait to see more of it. Now with his Twin brother being evil and both their back stories this makes a whole lot of sense. I also believe that I think Leo saw Mio back when he saw the Spirit Beast and I think that's his Madou Brush he is using too. Sigma is totally insane in like a Ozymandias from Watchmen type of way. I loved the painted backgrounds in the flash back too, it was just an aesthetically, awesome visual. This getting good for the final episodes. GARO Makai Senki Episode 20: Man the intensity was brought up to an 11 in this episode. The Knights being trapped, Leo vs Sigma, Kouga making a contract with Gajari and Kouga vs Sigma. This was totally awesome, I hope we get to see Leo become Roudo again in the next few episodes. I also loved the Madou Train that was very awesome to see. I think I might finish this series tonight. GARO Makai Senki Episodes 21-22: I really loved seeing Rei, Leo, Rekka, Jabi, Kaoru, and Wataru come together to help them out and fight. That was totally awesome. I enjoyed that Kouga got captured by Sigma and had everyone come to save him. I really enjoyed Kaoru saving him because how much he cares about her. This whole creation of Idea and then Ganon coming to life man this has been exciting. I did love Rei and Leo taking out that dragon thing too that was totally awesome. =) I love watching Rekka fight too she is so hot and badass. GARO Makai Senki Episode 23: Yay Tsubasa came back and tons of Makai Knights and Priests too! Woo this is a huge battle. I am excited to see what Leo is going to do, and how they defeat Ganon. This was just huge and kick ass to see with all the Knights fighting. 2 more episodes left woo! GARO Makai Senki Episode 24: Wow I couldn't believe they took down Ganon in the first two minutes, but that was an amazing fight with all the Priests and Knights working together and I loved Rei's weapon being used like a Bow because it looks like it. I loved Leo's arrow being different because of being both a Knight and Priest. Sigma coming back and trying to kill Kouga was awesome, that fight in the collapsing mansion is totally awesome. They totally know how to destroy a set lol. I also loved that Kouga stopped Leo from killing his brother for both his promise and to save his feelings. I WAS SO HAPPY THAT KOUGA AND KAORU FINALLY KISS! Sorry was excited a lot for that. I loved the ending seeing Tsubasa and Wataru training new students, Jabi training Rekka is awesome, I am happy Leo and Gonza found Kaoru's painting and happy her book got published. I can't wait to see what episode 25 is about when this said The End. GARO Makai Senki Episode 25: Ah the clip show special, well I liked the last part at the end when all the Knights and Priests asked Kouga to turn into Garo one last time, and that they trusted him. I really enjoyed that a lot. Well time to continue with the next part of Garo. Overall I actually loved Garo Makai Senki, minus the filler episodes they had this was absolutely fantastic going deeper into the Makai Priests, Makai Knights, and the whole history of the characters and the story. I wish the other characters were in the series more but it was still a fantastic series. |
So I started watching Kikaider 01 and after 3 episodes I'm not that impressed :( I loved the original series, but this feels really generic and half-assed in comparison. Kikaider 01 has zero personality so far (I know he's a robot, but so's Jiro and he came across well), and all the side characters are just copies of the original series ones with swapped roles and new backgrounds.
Having four Hakaiders is kinda cool as well, but that quickly gets old when it become apparent that the real Hakaider has lost all his cool personality and the other three are just lackeys. The Androbots look dumb as hell too, I miss DARK :( I hope this picks up, or its going to be a long 46 episodes. |
GARO Tougen No Fue: This was a great movie for Rekka and Jabi. I really enjoyed just seeing them fighting and working together. I enjoyed the story and the manipulation Agi and Magi did to Rekka and Jabi and made them fight against each other till they ended up learning what was going on and fought together. Shiguto got a pretty awesome scene too. Great to see Rekka's father too and see what was going on in her mind. Weird that there are so many evil Makai Priests sheesh they need to be careful here. I'll probably watch the next movie then on to Garo Yami Wo Terasu Mono.
GARO Soukoku No Maryuu: Amazing movie! This movie looked beautiful and I loved all the backgrounds and the world of the Promised Land, it looked like something out of Tim Burton movie just better lol. I love the Promised Land the world That Object come to life is amazing and seeing the characters from it were amazing. I love that Zaruba had a giant monstrous form, Garo Ken was an awesome Dog, and his Coat becoming an magnificent bird was interesting also seeing Kouga without his jacket was really cool too. Kiria was a pretty cool character, I like how he fought with Kouga and wanted to help him. Meru was pretty cool I didn't realize she was the guiding fish Kaoru that was neat. Kakashi really stole the show here mainly because he was played by the guy who played Takatora from Gaim and seeing him play this crazy, wacky character was brilliant, he fought wonderfully, and was totally amazing. I love that the realization was that he was the training dummy that helped Kouga as a little kid was brilliant too. The fight with Kakashi helping Kouga was great too, that was an awesome flying bike with a huge lance. Judam's castle was pretty awesome too, she was an interesting villain too. I like that Kouga was the Fang of Lamentation not something that was physical it was a great journey for Kouga. I also loved that Kouga had a scene with Taiga which was awesome, and loved that at the end with Rei winning against Tsubasa got to visit someone from the Dead and visited Taiga so both Rei and Taiga would fight against Kouga at the end. I wish we would have seen the fight with Rei and Tsubasa and seen the fight continue with Rei and Taiga vs Kouga too. I loved the end too with Kouga seeing Kaoru again it was touching. I really enjoyed this series. It's going to suck because I think this is the end of Kouga for right now but his story was amazing and he's one of the best Toku characters around. I think this might be the end for Tsubasa, and Leo too but I hope they might come back some way too. Well I am off to watching the series that got me interested into GARO, which was GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono, which I enjoyed when I first watched it. GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 3: I watched the first 2 episodes last year and I pretty much remember them so I continued with episode 3. Much better than the first two episodes and pretty much I just love seeing Gai and Ryouma as very different and very interesting characters. I like Ryuuga too. I am intrigued with the mysteries going on here too. I loved Kusugami and his Knight form too. He's like Ryouma just more badass and with a more badass bow too. Well we'll see where this goes. GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 4: Pretty good episode heavily featuring the Captain of SG-1 (I forget her name) but pretty interesting with her seeing the horror and being traumatized from it. I also enjoyed her and Rian kicking ass in that bar fight. Ryuuga was so much fun in this episode from throwing Takeru into the street as a distraction or smirking when holding the gun from the soldiers and just escaping from them. His last scene with the Captain was great too. It's just fun to see a very different show in the realm of GARO. Ryuuga reminds me a little more of Rei than Kouga. Ryuuga is probably the reason I first fell in love with GARO so I am really happy I got back to this show, I am just happy I understand the lore of GARO more than when I first watched it. |
Super Hero Taisen Z: A pretty fun movie. Yeah, the story was almost nonexistent, but it was worth it to see all the team-up fights. That and the Space Sheriffs look incredible in HD.
|
omg rescue fire is awesome i'm at episode 18 and i can't wait for when they team up with rescue force
|
GARO Yami wo Terasu Mono Episode 5: Interesting plot twist with the Female leader of the force. Her apparently being possessed by a horror is something else. I am intrigued with this. I also loved that Takeru kicked Ryuuga to face the special force in return for being thrown in front of the street. Still I know isn't like the before GARO series but still tells an intriguing story right now.
|
Drive, just finished watching episodes 1-3. Don't really like it at the moment. Also didn't like Faiz, Blade, Hibiki, Kiva when they started but they grew on me. Fourze on the other hand never really grew on me, it was tolerable I would go weeks to months without watching it.
ToQger is the worst Sentais I have ever seen. The only character I like is the sixth and he annoys the shit out of me with his constant talking of dying that day. |
GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 6: Interesting to see Horrors can be powered up by music. I really enjoyed Ryuuga's singing and his talk with Shin that he can help someone find what's in their heart is awesome. I loved the fight scene with Ryuuga, Takeru, Aguri, and Rian battling together that was totally awesome and the song is totally awesome too. I can't wait to see Takeru's armor next episode. Though I wish we had real suits back.
GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 7: I really like Takeru now, this was a great episode for him trying to save this family. I hate that in the end he was only able to save the girl of the family. I love his knight form too it looks amazing. Intrigued with Ryuuga having more flashbacks and turning fully gold again after defeating the horror. Definitely intriguing with the horrors being controlled. GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 8: I feel bad for Takeru having to see Rui and knowing the bad stuff that happened to her but she doesn't remember anything, but I'm glad he's talking to her. Aguri is really cold I wonder what happened to him in the past because he must have been hurt to be acting the way he does. I agree with Burai that Ryuuga shouldn't involve other people with what they do. Though seeing the three people who have been involved with the Horrors was interesting and that there is a family running Volcity and that there is more going on in the background. I am really interested with the story here. I loved that Ryuuga saw the Camera guy and transformed into GARO and killed the Horror within seconds. I am intrigued to see what happens next. GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 9: Well here's where it picks up a whole lot. With Kazami being tricked and leading to his death sucked and leading to Ryuuga being wanted being known to everyone hampers them. Though the fight scene with the Horror Knight guy was totally awesome I loved seeing the three of them fight, I am glad they got hits in by the end but still it was amazing and even the CGI looked amazing more than it did before. I am intrigued to see where this goes because it's going to be much tougher than it was before. GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 10: Well as I return to Gaim for this episode as the guy who played Micchy mainly starred in this episode. He was great though I definitely see why they wanted him for Gaim. Ryuga was great to I love his disguises now to hide himself in plain sight. Also the actor who played Souji was in this episode for a couple seconds too, so that was kind of cool, wish he had more of role in it though. I can see Ryuga start gaining the belief of the people of Volcity which keeps spreading propaganda in this city. UltraSeven X Episode 1: Not my first venture into UltraMan but probably will be the first series I continue with. I really enjoyed this episode. I always love an amnesiac hero because you never know what their back story actually is which is always intriguing. Definitely reminds me of Men In Black meets UltraMan and that's a good thing because I always loved Men In Black. Kei is a fun character too and they both kicked a lot of ass so that's awesome. I love the wrist computer thing too. The monster looked a lot better than some of the others I've seen so that helps, the story line in interesting and UltraSeven X was pretty kick ass too. So I'm down for this series, a lot of interesting parts to it and with this I finally join the realms of UltraMan. UltraSeven X Episode 2: Interesting episode, Agent R was intriguing with the Ship taking away people who want to go. I want to say even though he was vaporized I don't think this is the end of him. It was interesting that the ship was the bad guy that UltraSeven X was fighting. I like the detective work between Kei and Jin, it's a very interesting dynamic that works really well. Reminds me of some of the current shows I watch now. I am definitely intrigued with this show and will continue. UltraSeven X Episode 3: Well this villain was very intriguing and getting into Jin's mind about if the Greedy humans are bad is he going to stop them? I enjoyed the regular sized UltraMan fight that was pretty awesome and I loved the head blade taking out the alien from the side after thinking he dodged it and he was fine. I am enjoying Jin right now him not knowing who he is but still fighting is good. Kei is pretty cool too, I want to know why he fights too. Really enjoyable series right now. UltraSeven X Episode 4: Agent S is a lot of fun. She kicks ass, also a cool undercover agent. I really liked how she played off of Jin and Kei. They kicked a lot of ass, I enjoy the fight scenes in this. The Pejinera I don't think was totally defeated with that end scene so I hope that comes back. Pretty cool how he uses his head fin as a blade to defeat enemies. I liked the head parasite aliens because they couldn't shoot them, made it a very interesting threat. UltraSeven X Episode 5: This kind of turned out really dark at the end. With them helping the peaceful aliens get the weakness to their rivals kind of wasn't a good idea because of both planets' destruction, that was kind of a bad move but it kind of wasn't Jin, Kei, and S's decision. I really like these three they kick ass and are pretty interesting. This is very interesting with Jin, and I loved his fight against the monster as UltraSeven X too. I want to know more about who's Peace this is like the woman said at the end. Definitely interesting I can't wait for more. GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 11: I really enjoyed learning more about Rian, she is a really interesting character and kicks ass. I like how they are bringing Ryuuga and Rian together, I like the pairing and I hope to see more, they would be really cute together. Takeru with Rui was just so cute, I had the the biggest smile on my face when he said he wanted to be someone important to her. Takeru is the biggest surprise to me right now with his character from what I remember. He reminds me a lot of Hal Jordan/Green Lantern which I haven't found a character like before which is interesting. I love Ryuuga too he is so awesome and I love how he can sense history from objects and how he knew Rian was a good person too. He reminds me a lot of Kouga just different which is really cool. I really like this series right now and I can't wait for more. =) GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 12: Great to see them finally take action against Rivera. I really enjoyed the trick they pulled on her to get Ryuuga off the hook by faking his death. I really enjoy the chemistry between Ryuuga and Rian a lot more now. Takeru was a lot of fun too. I am glad they can finally hunt the Madou Horrors, I definitely feel the first half is over and it's time for the second half of the series. I can't wait for more. GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 13: This was a great episode for Aguri, who has been lacking screen time. I like how he learned from Ryuuga from changing his plan, and gaining courage and thinking differently on how to fight, and being an awesome Makai Knight. These horrors are sick with harvesting human souls, I really want to see these guys get taken down hard. I felt really bad for Takeru and seeing Rui's family be sent off like that almost put me in tears myself. This second half of the season definitely started off strong. GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 14: This was interesting, Hyena I figured was lying and trying to manipulate the team this episode. Though I love that Ryuuga tricked him back and defeated him that was great. The part with Zedom and who sings the song I definitely think will come back soon and maybe hint more at it. Seeing that Madou Horrors can be created is interesting. Very intriguing as the plot continues. GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 15: A Clip show episode which was done pretty well, I enjoyed the setting up of Ryuuga's mother's grave and how he thought about everything that's happened. His origin how he obtained the GARO armor was pretty awesome too. My guess is that the GARO armor is somehow connected to Zedom or something along the way that's why it's Black now. It definitely looks like it picks up next episode. Can't wait for more. UltraSeven X Episode 6: Interesting episode, with Kaidou from Faiz here. I thought it was him when I first saw him, he pops up everywhere lol. Well he's in 3 of the Toku Shows so good for him. Learning a little more about the woman following Jin, and a little more about Jin was pretty cool. I'm happy that Takao gets to live his dream because of the peaceful Soul of Light alien. Nice to see that not all the aliens want to cause harm here. Kei's reaction to hearing that S and Jin were on a date was funny, that was a good joke. Looks like we'll get more action next episode. UltraSeven X Episode 7: From the episode with the least action to the Episode with a lot of action. This reminded me of a Doctor Who episode with these Sound screaming aliens. I like the love story with the introduced Alien who fell in love with the planet and the Agent D. I liked Kei's interactions with him, and how he's falls for the love and peace stuff. Most intriguing stuff with Jin and the Girl in White who says his true battle as the Savior is coming. The Giant Battle was a little lacking because it really wasn't a fight it was a fin blade through the monster and boom lol. Still I loved all 6 six of them fighting at different points in this show. I will say for a short series I love these characters. |
After spending ages with it thanks to things getting in the way, I've finally finished Kikaider 01. I REALLY enjoyed the original series despite its flaws, but sadly the sequel doesn't quite live up to that greatness.
Kikaider 01 is a show that can easily be split into three parts - the first third is all about the Hakaider Squad, the second third is the debut of SHADOW and the third is the arrival of Bijinder, Waruder and 01's continuing battle against SHADOW. The series pretty much progresses in quality as it goes along - the first part isn't that great at all, the second is an improvement and then the final third is the best. The Hakaider Squad section sucks because the show is just a painful copy of the original. Each episode plays out in exactly the same way with the characters all serving the same purposes (albeit switched around a bit) and they all feature some ridiculous bit where the monster exploits 01's weakness (which in this case is that he's solar powered...making him utterly useless in the dark). 01 doesn't really get much of an introduction at all either - he just shows up out of a statue and starts fighting bad guys. Took me a while to realise he's actually the OLDER Kikaider brother, not the younger one. It wasn't all that clear. The other problem with the first third is that Jiro appears in pretty much every episode, which is great if you want to see the original Kikaider but otherwise makes 01 seem really inept at his job. Of course when SHADOW start showing up Kikaider's actor goes off to be in Inazuman, so the focus shifts more to be on the titular character. Once it does, 01 becomes a lot more likeable. While Jiro always had a loner type quality to him, Ichiro is like everyone's big brother. Fast-forwarding to the final third, the emergence of Bijinder and Waruder really make the show a lot more enjoyable. They add that "conflicted robot" element that the original had, but in different ways. Both designs take a little bit of getting used to, but development wise are probably the strongest characters in the entire series. Waruder especially, I NEED a Figuart of him after watching this. The biggest disappointment of 01 for me though was Hakaider. Since I started getting into the Kikaider franchise, my love for Hakaider has grown to the point where I'd rank him as one of my all-time favourite toku characters. But unfortunately 01's Hakaider (who now has the brain of original series villain Professor Gill) is a very different beast to the original Saburo Hakaider. This Hakaider is more of a cliche thug, causing trouble for anything and everything around him before settling into a pretty standard henchmen role. He still has his moments and can be quite fun to watch, but is nowhere near as engaging as he once was. Anyway, next up - Mechanical Violator Hakaider! |
UltraSeven X Episode 8: This was a good mystery episode, that was an intriguing twist there with the guy who played Kamen Rider Glaive from Blade: Missing Ace movie. That he turned out to be the killer who dressed up as his dead wife and his memory was twisted was really dark. This show definitely has really strong storytelling. UltraSeven X's Super speed attack was really cool. The interesting thing was that Jin could have saved some of the drug dealers but just kind of let them get attacked, which they were bad people so I can see why he didn't feel the need to save them. I mean his duty was to stop the alien which he did which saved more innocent lives. I really can't wait to find out about Jin's past, there must be something big he did, and I can't wait to see what happened to make him have amnesia.

So like I said, next up on my Kikaider viewing adventure was Mechanical Violator Hakaider. Directed by Keita Amemiya of Garo fame.
Basically you could fit the entire plot of this film on a post-it note. Hakaider wakes up in a dystopian future, travels to place named Jesus Town where the people live under a fascist ruler. Meets some rebels, falls in love with a rebel, watches them all get killed so in turn goes out and kills everyone. To be honest, it's just easier to call the film "Hakaider Smash". If you aren't a fan of shoehorned religious imagery in your toku though, best give this one a miss. The whole thing is just one big spin on good vs evil with as many Christian themes it can throw into it. I guess "Jesus Town" should have been a pretty good giveaway. Absolutely none of the other characters in the film are remotely memorable (Michael has a pretty neat design though, I could go for a Figuart of that), so it's basically just Hakaider carrying the film. Hakaider and his ridiculously overpowered shotgun of death. The fight scenes aren't particularly impressive, but its just so fun to watch bullets ricochet off of him as he tears down anything and everything in front of him. And then of course, there's that gloriously twisted Kikaider "cameo". Hakaider's received a 90s tastic new look for the film, but I have to say its probably my least favourite iteration of the character in terms of looks. I freely admit that the muppet-esque grin of the original is an acquired taste, but the Ninja Turtles toy grimace of this version doesn't feel like an improvement. I also think the design loses a lot by lacking an exposed brain, something I'd consider a staple of his design. Critically its not a particularly great movie, but it is just good gritty fun. |
I like the Hakaider movie. It's not particularly complex, but like most Amemiya works it is just plain gorgeous to look at. I still love the white room with everything underneath the surface painted red to make it look like the room bleeds as it's damaged during the climactic fight.

Yeah, that scene was pretty awesome. I think making the bits of wall look like meaty chunks might have been a bit too much, but I admire the effort that went into it :lol
|
UltraSeven X Episode 9: More detective work, which is pretty interesting connecting to an event 100 years ago with the Lunar Eclipse. These stories have been very deep, and definitely more adult. Each of the aliens lately have had very intriguing back stories that you actually can feel the pain for them. Jin, Kei, and S are a very good unit together in finding the pieces to each murder/alien case here. Excited for more.
UltraSeven X Episode 10: I was right, that someone is controlling the information in the city because those giant monitors and news people gave me a bad vibe, also might be similar to GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono so gave me the first instinct not to trust them. Learning a little more about Jin was interesting and learning more about Elea, the woman in white, is also intriguing. I liked that this connected back to the past episodes, I think the finale is going to be big here. UltraSeven X Episode 11: This episode was amazing. Finding out what the Aqua Project is about, and what Jin knew about and his connection to Elea. Pretty exciting information here that they found a parallel universe and that's why the government's been keeping it secret. I was totally shocked when Elea reveals that DEUS wasn't lying and was an alien mimic was the biggest fake out I've seen so far. Glad it was just for the cameras and not true, I can't wait for the finale, this show has tied in the stuff from past really really good. I also liked the intensity between Kei and S, as well as Kei and Jin too this episode with Kei holding the guns to both S and Jin and was joking afterwards I loved. UltraSeven X Episode 12: Ah all answers revealed. I really enjoyed learning that UltraSeven came from the parallel universe and merged with Jin which is why he forgot his memories. The Final battle between all the shadow leaders/Spiders vs UltraSeven X was pretty awesome. Kei and S defeating the robots was awesome too. I loved their reactions of learning Jin was the one who saved them as UltraSeven X and I loved his reaction to them back. It was great that they got the original UltraSeven actor back at the end too. That DEUS was corrupt and everything was a really interesting story. I am going to miss these characters but it was a very well done story. For my first UltraMan series the ending really got me hooked, and I want to watch more now. I actually might go watch UltraSeven next because I have it downloaded and I really enjoyed this series, and enjoyed that he traveled to a Parallel World to save it as well. I highly recommend this series to everyone. |
just watched Ultraman leo on crunchy roll, i like that ultraseven is still a main charater in it
|
GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 16: Well this was a great episode for Rian, and her growing stronger from learning that Enhou that captain of SG-1 became a Madou Horror, and that was her only female friend. I love that she got Lago and that she stopped Ryuuga from cutting her down in some attempt to hopefully save her life which I hope happens. Learning that Kensui's son who Ryuuga has helped out is creating the Horrors was a shock, they played that really well. I can't wait for more of this series.
GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 17: Originally I thought this was a clip show but it was the story from the side of Tousei and that was very interesting to learn how he was manipulating Ryuuga and what his plan is. If that happens that's going to be insane. Also Tousei's team killing off the Kaneshiro family is totally dark, and insane. I feel bad for the group because of being late and not being able to save them. It's seems the real battle begins here and I can't wait. GARO always gets insanely good close to the end. GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 18: Okay, this was brutal, and totally awesome, and holy shit I wasn't expecting things in this episode. Tousei being human is insanely brilliant, because Makai Knights can't hurt humans. That they found the original Makai Priest village was intriguing. The huge battle was insane; Aguri vs Rivera was kick ass, and I loved his quips against her; Takeru vs Enhou was crazy too; and Ryuuga vs Sonshi was epic as hell and the three fights going on simultaneously made this awesome. Takeru intercepting the Madou Horror Plant was insane and chopping off his hand? That I did not see this coming. The little girl knowing Ryuuga and Priest Burai intrigues me what her whole part is. Also Ryuuga taking the sword to the eyes was insane. With the team being severely injured now I can't wait to see what happens next. GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 19: I loved this episode a lot. Seeing Ryuuga's past and how he was training in the prison cell together, was awesome seeing them parallel together. I love that is was about not giving up and what Ryuuga has been fighting for, for all these years and that even without his sight he continues to fight and reach the Garo Ken. I loved Aguri and Takeru continuing to fight and not give up themselves was awesome, I love Aguri even more this episode because his spirit didn't go down after this and help boost Takeru's. They both kicked ass and helped Ryuuga reach the Garo Ken which was great. I can't wait to see more, the heroes may be down but they are not out of this at all. GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 20: Wow insane episode here. So many feelings here I was like Aguri and Takeru with trying not to cry from hearing the emotional story of Ryuuga's Mom and Ryuuga's reunion. I feel bad for Sonshi as well being a Makai Knight turning into a Madou Horror I thought he was something like that when he transformed he looked like a Makai Knight. Tousei is absolutely insane, he makes a great villain here and very different than the last two main villains as well. That Ryuuga's mom sacrificed her sight for Ryuuga to regain his, I just felt so bad for her after what she says about Ryuuga having the best smile and can't see it again. I can't wait to see them take down Tousei. I am worried about Rian too. Also it was great to see stuff about her Dad too. GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 21: Talk about a total change for Ryuuga, Aguri, and Takeru with them coming in and just kicking ass and taking names against the SG-1 soldiers. I really enjoyed Rian and Ryuuga vs Enhou and how she meant a lot to both of them, and how this episode was a memorial to her after they destroyed her and gave her the human death she deserved with Rian disguising herself as Enhou and helping clear Takeru, Aguri, and Ryuuga's name and also giving Enhou the human death she wanted. I really enjoyed this episode because it was a great send off and very emotional. GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 22: Wow right in the feels again...Just seeing that end tribute to Burai got me teary eyed and you could tell that Ryuuga didn't want him to go because he was like a father to him. I love SG-1 helping the Makai Knights now I've been waiting for that. Ryuuga, Takeru, and Aguri defeating Rivera in their own hideout was pretty awesome. I also love Takeru's Soul Metal Fist that's kick ass. I also loved that Burai gave Aguri the Soul Metal Arrow Head from his Family Crest too showing that he has grown to earn it. I am worried about Hakana, that she'll become a horror and Ryuuga will have to eliminate his own Mother and that's just depressing too. Well only 3 episodes left, let's see what happens. GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 23: Another shot to the feels with both the death of Burai who failed against Zedom, and Hakana who had to die before she became a horror, and that Ryuuga had to kill her own Mother is so dark and sad. Though I loved the hardcore fight they had against Sonshi with battling on top of cars, inside containers, and hitting him with a car so Ryuuga finally restored GARO's Golden Brilliance and even restored the Garo Ken to the red coloring when not armored. Zedom looks insane with his giant form and his manipulation of all these Cubes, this reminds me of Silver Surfer vs Galactus with his own power against him. I can't wait for this fight it should be intense. GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 24: This was a brilliant finale! The fight against Zedom was brilliant with Takeru getting them closer with his Soul Metal Fist as a shield, then the opening for the Soul Metal Arrow Head from Aguri, and Rian using The Madou Echo Wave to help against Zedom, and Ryuuga fighting his heart out even without his armor. All 3 of them fighting together and Ryuuga using Garo's golden shine to turn both Takeru and Aguri into Golden Knights too and the three of them destroying Zedom was amazing! That they did it together and that it didn't just focus on Ryuuga was amazing. That the whole city had to forget about them made sense, I feel so bad for Takeru that Rui had to forget him again but it helped him grow and I really enjoyed that about his character. I enjoyed that Aguri wanted to go to the Senate but decided to watch over the ancient grounds and train more because he felt he needed too. I love that Rian got to kill Tousei and it was so great he was turned into a Horror and got killed by a Makai Priest it felt so good that the worm got a death like that. I am happy Rian and Ryuuga are going together I liked them together. I am intrigued like always with episode 25 now, and after that I'll go into more thoughts. GARO Yami Wo Terasu Mono Episode 25: Also Known as Episode Zero, I feel so bad for Priest Burai with him having Survivor's Guilt and probably being traumatized from the event with Zedom I can see why he had a hard time trying to raise Rian in the beginning. I'm glad his friend Ouma was there and that Rian disappearing for a bit helped him realize that he should continue. This was fantastic and made a lot of things make sense back from the beginning especially understanding why Ryuuga was angry at Burai in the beginning. Great to see this tie back a lot of the scenes they showed us from earlier. Overall I think I'm crazy but this is my favorite series of GARO. Just the growth of all the characters from beginning to end is amazing. This continues just the amazing character stories that GARO has had in the past and just had it grow even more. Also it had a fantastic villain in Tousei Kanashiro, and everyone good he turned evil to work for him too. Zedom was a great final boss too. I loved the Volcity setting and how everything changed and developed for the characters. The 3 Knights are like the Agito Trio for me because I love all three of them and can't pick a favorite. Well I leave the future of GARO for now as I return to the present with ZERO and continue into GARO Makai No Hana. |
ZERO Black Blood Episode 1: Ah Rei how I missed you, he is so wonderful. The caucasian horror is interesting with his feathery power. I am definitely intrigued with his plan to try and make Humans and Horrors Coexist, it's different and just like the last series with a human villain is interesting. Yuna and Kain? What is this Final Fantasy lol? I wouldn't be surprised if their names are from that at all. Mio I mean Yuna intrigues me with being able to use a Makai Blade also she should wear short shorts and black leather more, she is hot. Kain reminds me that he is similar to Rei so this should be a fun team together. I am disappointed this is only 6 episodes, I would have loved to watch 25 episodes of this.

ZERO Black Blood Episode 2: I really enjoy the chemistry between Rei, Yuna, and Kain they are really fun together. I like that we learned that Rei doesn't want to see them die which is why he wants to work alone. I liked Yuna's back story a lot too and how she can use a Makai Blade is insane. Kain reminds me of Kotaro from Blade a bit annoying but he also feels more useful so it remains to be seen. Ring's plot definitely is intriguing we'll see where it goes from here. |
Next Gen Shaider. Iwanaga is awesome and Kawamoto who plays Tammy is cute.
|
ZERO Black Blood Episode 3: I can see why this might get annoying with Ring and the whole coexistence place because that storyline bores the hell out of me. I love all the parts with Rei, Yuna, and Kain and them fighting together is awesome. The one chick being Yuna's mother was intriguing so I'll see where this goes.
ZERO Black Blood Episode 4: Ah I see Episode 3 was the boring one, this one made progress with the storyline. I enjoyed learning about Yuna's Father and Kain working together and what happened to him. I enjoy the emotional back story's that connect Kain and Yuna together. I also liked that Rei got motivated at the end being pissed off at the guy being killed by Ring even though he was going to sacrifice Natsumi. Yuna's mother being in Ring's possession is interesting and the song is interesting as well. Honestly I think the biggest problem of the show is who they got to play Ring, I just don't feel the intensity from him. He's too calm for a villain, and not right for a mastermind. Even when he breaks into English he could say his lines with the right kind of feeling. Whenever he's on screen I grow bored and tired of him. Kain and Yuna have grown on me, and I love Rei, I just hope we get more with him in the last two episodes. ZERO Black Blood Episode 5: Ask and I shall receive definitely more with Rei this episode by sparring with Yuna and defeating her to test her resolve to help her get stronger. Also great to learn why Rei does this, and his own resolve wanting to protect people and saying that all lives no matter how small matter. I don't care how many people say it, Rei saying made me love him even more, and he kicked some ass too. The Master of the Bar is really awesome too talking to Rei and asking what he fights for. Kain and Yuna were interesting too, with Kain wanting to reclaim his Honor and Yuna still wanting to fight. Ring is still bad here but still he's not here much longer with the last episode up next. ZERO Black Blood Episode 6: Now this was a finale. Full of action and character. Rei vs Ring was a great fight even though Ring's actor was less than stellar he pulled it off well for the finale. Especially using the humans against Rei even though it didn't help them when he turned into his horror form. I liked Iyu sacrificing herself to stop Ring and atone for her past issues. Yuna helping defeat Ring was great for her character and I enjoyed that Rei defeated him with a team (something Kouta could have learned), and evolving past working alone. I love his answers against Ring and how he still protected the humans even though they were beating the shit out of him. It really showed how good Rei's character really is. Kain kicked ass too so that was pretty neat as well. The fight scenes were stellar and they got the 3D looking even better now. I loved Rei's final transformation in this, and the imagery after defeating Ring with the angel wings behind him. Also using the song against him was great too. I liked how it ended with Rei in the city at night, I hope he comes back as Zero again sometime soon. I will say that 6 Episodes was perfect for this series and any longer would have dragged on, heck this could have been a little shorter even. I think the coexistence plot between Horrors and Humans even though interesting could have been executed better because it was dragging on a bit. Still this is a great miniseries and the finale is definitely satisfying. I can't wait to move to the next series of GARO, that should be fun to see Kouga's son, I can't wait. |
Watched the first episode of Tokkei Winspector and it was certainly interesting. Cant say much about it other than its really different from what I´m used to watch :lol

UltraMan Nexus Episode 1: Very interesting, I'm starting to get the feel of UltraMan and how it's like after watching UltraSeven X, and the beginning of UltraSeven. The members of TLT seem interesting and Komon is a great character so far for a point of view character. Interesting past, and a bit of mystery going on. Also intrigued with Nexus right now, because I don't know anything about him. I will probably watch more to see where this goes.
UltraMan Nexus Episode 2: I am enjoying Komon a lot so I'll stick with this show because of him. Hikari was a lot of fun training him too. I liked that his month of training was over in one episode rather than spread out over a long period of time. Reminds me sort of UltraSeven X with taking out the Alien threats just a little different. The Space Beasts learning is an intriguing notion with them. UltraMan Nexus seems really cool so far, I want to know more about him though. UltraMan Nexus Episode 3: Well this is fighting I'm talking about, that there is an actual fight rather than UltraSeven X just annihilating the enemy most of the time. Still loving Komon, and not really liking the female that's trying to teach him the harshness of reality. Seeing the person who becomes Nexus fight untransformed is pretty awesome, I want to know more about him, and his connection to Komon as well. Good series though. UltraMan Nexus Episode 4: I like TLT's plan to try and destroy the monster though that it keeps learning is interesting. That the Deputy Captain didn't turn in Nexus but she wants to destroy him so I can see why she didn't. She's developing pretty good learning that a monster probably killed her mother in front of her explains why she is so harsh. I like that they had the scene with Riko talking to her family flashing with Komon fighting against the monster that was cool, I like him more that his dream is to save people. Seeing Nexus fight the monster was pretty badass, I am totally getting into this giant monster fighting if it's like this. If the storytelling is as good as this and UltraSeven X in the other series I will definitely get obsessed with UltraMan. Next episode looks great too. UltraMan Nexus Episode 5: You know if the rest of the Night Raiders beside Komon and Hikari didn't piss me off I'd remember there names lol. Just attacking UltraMan Nexus is just wrong I understand why they are doing it but when he is fighting the monster to save your ass and you attack him and he does nothing to you, there comes a point where you realize he is not going to eat you or attack you because you would be dead already. Then the Deputy Captain and Komon find the human guy and she attacks him urrgh she is infuriating lol. Learning more about the guy who is UltraMan Nexus is pretty interesting. Komon and him are my favorites right now so I can't wait to see more. UltraMan Nexus Episode 6: Well I couldn't leave off with Himeya being shot and not seeing what happened. I feel bad for Himeya seeing how the war tore him apart emotionally, and losing that girl too. Nagi still calling UltraMan a beast has to have some sort of connection here because she is hellbent hating him. Komon learning about Himeya was good I hope they have interactions soon. The fights are really good here, so I am thoroughly entertained right now. |
GARO Makai No Hana Episode 1: I love Raiga, he reminds me of a good mix between Kouga and Kaoru. He seems a bit more fun and energetic while Kouga was more the quiet, introverted type. I like this 9 sealed Horror story line, I can see how this will last the entire season. Mayuri being the Madou tool is very interesting, GARO always brings awesome new concepts each season so I can't wait to for more.

Watched the first episode of Juukou B-Fighter and I really dug it. The show has a nice tone to it and handles everything pretty serious so far. The build up for the villains was really nicely done and you get the feeling they are serious business when they finally show up in the episode. The protagonists are also very likeable and I cant wait to get them to know better.
Not much else to say since the episode was pretty standard for a first episode but I gotta say its ncie for a change to see them actually develop the suits and not just having them ready to go from the beginning. |
I am currently watching
Metalder - The classic of Metal Hero Spielvan - Another classic of the franchise Zubat - A adventure in Western style similar to Kamen Rider and Metal hero Byclosser - a toku made by the master Shotaro Ishinomori, this series is very similar to Metal hero shows. |

Six episodes into B-Fighter and I´m really enjoying this show. The characters are all so likeable and fun. The action is absolutely top notch and I also really enjoy the villains in the show. Seeing Hayakawa/Mega Silver in another toku is always a great thing. The Story itself is not very complex but I´m sure thats something that will come down the line.
With B-Fighter I have now another 90s toku I absolutely adore and that makes this pretty much my favorite toku era by now :lol |
Are you watching it raw or is there some subbed copy out there I'm missing? I remember someone did the first couple of eps but nothing more than that.
(To be honest, I need to track down a new set of raws regardless :lol) |
I´m watching it raw. Hinotori subs the guys that did amazon subbed the first episode if I remember correctly.

GARO Makai No Hana Episode 2: Crow's interesting so far. He reminds me of Rei so far which is good. He respects the Golden Knight which is interesting to see, I can't wait to see him transform. Raiga is a lot of fun he is like his father with more playfulness to him so I can definitely enjoy him this series. Learning more about Eris is interesting I definitely feel we will see his revival before the end of the series. Mayuri is very intriguing being a Madou Tool, and she says she's a vessel but Raiga believes she's human, so we'll see what happens here. Raiga's fighting style is awesome, I love how he smiles against his enemies and the martial arts he does, he is really cool, also his armor has some neat tricks to it. I love having a physical suit because man the CG in Ryuuga's series was a lot to handle sometimes. Can't wait for more.
