A lot of the visual were inspired from Soukoku No Mayruu. But none of his works are ever related. Zeiram and Garo are the only works with sequels/spin offs. Also Yukijirou Hotaru (Gonza in Garo) was in the series as Haku. He usually has a roll in EVERYTHING Amemiya does.


I don't think the original series ever went to Bluray, but TVN re-did their subs with the DVDs a while ago.

How long were the GARO DVDrips released? Because I watched GARO last summer and I remember the quality being pretty bad. I know TVN uses horrible encoding but it shouldn't have looked that bad, if they were DVD rips. I'm wondering if maybe I just missed the cut off for the new DVD encodes?

Actually, KIBA Gaiden takes place during episodes 23 & 24.


My files say 2010, I have a few of the GARO DVD. The quality is fine but not HD. I think a ripped copy looses a bit, but these are hella better than the TV ones they use to have. You won't find anything better unless you buy the videos which aren't cheap.

It was a couple years ago, I think. It may have depended on where you got your download if they were the new or old version.

Yes, but it came out after Red Requiem and there's stuff in it that serves as a direct prelude to Makai Senki.

Yeah, it was a funky place to put that movie. I loved Kiba, he would have done fine with a 20min special episode and have the lead into Makai Senki be it's own thing.

The director has quite a few good things to his name, but not a lot of them are as director. All his big stuff he seemed to do animation for.

MAPPA I've never heard of as a company, but looking them up they a handful of well-received things, but again not a lot.

Yeah, that sure is some very ummm..unique stylisation.

It makes him look really feminine. Which I guess isn't a problem in itself I suppose - don't wanna go down that road - but it still seems like an odd style choice.

Well they been saying since at least the November Garo Appreciation day event that Black Blood would air in March and Makai no Hana would be in April.

In case anyone is interested, HJU has a new podcast out where they review the Demon Dragon movie. I only mention it because one of their guests is Mark Musashi, who played Kodama and did a lot of stunt work in the original series. He brings in some really cool insights into the show and how it works. Apparently, the show was originally intended to be for kids.
