SH Zeronos came today, and the Den-O five pack should be here tonight.
Gotta say, this guy is really freaking fun to play with. Odd double-shoulders aside all his articulation makes sense. Regular old universal hips, ball-jointed ankles. I wish my Figuarts CycloneJoker had this practical articulation. He also looks one hell of a lot better than I expected. He's nearly as nice visually as a figuart. I'd say if figuarts get a ten in looks, this guy get's an eight. Seven point nine at least. |
So, since the SH is about the interactivity, does he have 2 separate weapons or does he have one weapon that you have to transform like in the show?

The only problem is his gripping hands are... eh. I actually find the calm hands hold the crossbow better while the grippers manage a decent job on the sword. Wish he had an un-jointed gripping hand like the TRU set. Vega form is really frigging cool, very unrestricted movement even though Vega form isn't a very acrobatic guy in-show. He looks like a pillar. Also thanks to those non-stupid hips he's so much fun to pose. Like seriously, I'd actually say wrists-aside (they're not ball-jointed, not that he suffers for it though) he beats a figuart just because the hips aren't back asswards. Also the amount of die-cast is, admittedly more than I usually like, but feels great. Even his belt buckles are die-cast. I can't wait to pick up Den-O tonight. :D |
Since it's been a while since SH figures have been brought up, the Den-O and Kiva SH figures are very close to Figuarts level articulation and quality. There are some shortcomings, like Split Lip says, they're 7.9-8 out of 10, but they're pretty nice.
And with Kiva, they're the only way to get any of his regular forms. But there still is no Saga figure. :( |
Honestly, while it's aesthetically behind figuarts, Zeronos is more fun for me. It's about the hips and durability. No squeaking, terrifying balljoints, no nonsense hip joints, just a general sense of "yeah, this'll last a while." If it had regular gipping hands for the weapons and compound buy eyes, I'd not even be giving the Figuarts a second glance. I'll probably still pick up Figuarts Zeronos, but I'm not getting the Den-O ones unless I see sword form for an amazing price.
|
Honestly, the biggest shortcoming for the SH for me is that, outside of Den-O and Kiva, they're all terribly out of scale.

They don't have the weird hips that some Figuarts do (W, Agito, Fourze, some of the Sentai ones, and most are really quite usable anyway, it's really only the W line that has a lot of problems with the loose inner shoulder joint and extra ugly hip joint). None of mine have any issues with terrifying balljoints, or squeaking or anything that makes me nervous about their durability. And sad to say, I have quite a few Figuarts, like in the realm of 100+. But anyway, yeah, only the Den-O and Kiva lines are anything close to Figuarts, and you're right, the hands are kinda problematic, but at least the 5 Form set has specially molded hands for holding the specific accessories. When you get yours, look at the palm of the new hands, they have a letter indicating which form they go with, in case they got mixed up when put back in the box (assuming it's a pre-owned set). I'm half tempted to keep that set, for Plat Form, until we get a Figuarts of it, cuz I really like that form. |
A couple of days back my brother in law got me Injustice: Gods Among Us, which I love a lot. I mean, it's the kind of fighting game you can enjoy no matter how well you're skilled at them.
I also got the Wii U Retro Controller, which not only doesn't work on Wii U games, it also can't be charged via a wall socket. I'm returning the Wii U Retro and going for the Wii U Pro instead. |
Did you get Injustice on PS3? Because then we could play together x3

I am aware of the different hips, (the only reason I'm interested in Agito is because his has the better hips) but I've seen them in action and they're deffinitely preferable. Quote:
Then again I'm not like a super ginormous Rider collector. Outside of SIC I'll probably stick with Figuarts, but I'm not going to get many just key charatcers and suits I really like. I wouldn't have collected any of the Den-O SHF's if the SH's didn't exist. (although I still want Zeronos to compare/because I like Zeronos) Quote:
Also, why does Zeronos have a hole in the top of his head? Nothing goes there. |

A pity too, from what little I did of SSBB's online mode was a good learning experience for me. Without really being pressed into bettering myself I would have never beaten the game on Intense. |

There is no reason to not get Ryuki. As I've said like a million times, I think the Ryuki line is the best example of what Figuarts are, plus, Dragredder is freaking awesome. Quote:
I never tried any of the new hands with the Zerogasher, because I needed them for Den-O's forms, but yes, they are all slightly different, so you should be able to find one that works well with the Zerogasher. |
Went out to Target today on a pretty safe bet that these guys were there. On the down side, I'll have to push back my plans to get a Gaburevolver.

So, I Love my new Tajador so much, that I just went and got a bunch more OOOs from Jungle. Got Tatoba with Ankh, Latorata, Sagozo and Shauta. Probably going to try and find Gatakiriba and Putotyra for decent prices and make one giant GokaiOOO display. Maybe have all the OOO full combos in Gokaiger poses while the Gokaigers do Eiji's poses.

Also the 5 form pack arrived. Just as impressed as Zeronos. This one is deffinately more noticably used. Few easily touched up paint nicks (no chrome cipping, though!) loose shoulder, but he STANKS man I don't know. Smells like old people. :/ |

Karzahni! I missed more Mahri sets than I wanted to. :( (basically all of the Mahri sets before the Toa)

This thing is, overall, about 60% die-cast counting all the armour. Everything on the torso, the feet and even the belt buckles are hard metal, and the chrome finish is great and actually goes fairly well with Zeronos who's not chrome, but metallic. I just can't get over how much stuff this comes with. It's outrageous. Four seperate torso pieces, all made up of three pieces themselves, plus the belts, DenKamens and thigh panels, plus the weapons and static Dengasher and hands. (as well as a face hole-less PlatForm head. It also comes with two Denliner passes with stickers for them. And it's all useful and practical. I wish I had toys like these as a kid. |
