Really? I heard Robot Damashis are pretty much exactly like S.H.Figuarts.

They're the same in that they have swapable hands and are articulated 6" ish figures. But of the ones I've handled I think I'd be much happier with a 1/144 kit of the same thing. The only exceptions I can think of are suits that either don't have 1/144 kits, or do, but they're stupid rare resin kits.

Well, Resin Kits from what I understand are more complicated and require a lot more work then Bandai's plastic kits. Getting the RD of the Testament sounds like it's just saving you the hassle of dealing with resin.

Thats what i mean. In instances like that or the upcoming Gundam Mark V it totally makes sense to get the RD. Because there's no other representation of it, or only a very rare complicated kit of it.

The metal build Exia is expensive, but an amazing piece. Trumps the Master Grade in every way.

but...I like the LEDs...

Diecast metal and the R3 conversion parts LOL.

The kits have more detail and are cheaper(if we're talking 1/144 scale), and even so, the MG kits are closer in price to RD's but you get way more bang for your buck.

I understand the price differences though, I forgot if I explained it here or elsewhere but it has much to do with labor. Bandai has to pay the factory workers for their labor in putting together RD's and painting them, whereas for plamo kits, all that labor to put together and paint the kit are on you.

Ultimately, the kits will almost always look more detailed, more accurate, and more aesthetically pleasing. So for display they will win out. For posing and play, the RD's usually win. Different crowds though, Gundam rose to popularity and was saved due to plamo, so plamo is never going away from Gundam it will always be its lifeblood.

Despite my understanding of labor costs involved for RD's, I still think you get more bang for your buck with a plamo.

I've suddenly gone from "Meh" to being pretty damned interested in this kit after seeing how his knee works.

I'm still meh on it. Looks too fidly.

The RG was pretty fiddly, actually. But this kit will be a thing of beauty if they correct the RG's mistakes.

IIRC the SHCMpro did the same on the knee. You should check it out.

IIRC it's not fidly on the SHCMpro figure though. Since the MG is substantially bigger, it ought to be more solid.

That would be such an easy/sexy repaint/remold of the MG Red Frame. Just toss the Noir striker in there and it's all good to go. Come on Bandai :(

I think Kitbashing your own would be pretty simple too. All you'd need to do really is make new handles for the katanas and a new v fin. Tempted to do it myself, but I think I'l wait and see what Bandai does first.

Wouldn't be surprised if it shows up in the HG Remaster 1/144 SEED lineup.

I'm still waiting on the Mandarake box that has my first Gundam or two.

And I watched a low res copy of Gundam Seed The Empty Battlefield, since I find most of the designs I like are from Seed and Seed Destiny, but I should have believed the reviews that said it wasn't a good introduction to the show - it moved very fast, gave me little chance to learn who any of the characters were, one that I did get to recognize disappeared a little over half-way thru (I'm assuming he comes back later on, since he was Kira's friend and they swore they'd have to fight to the death next encounter), I never could tell who was on which side, what the hell a Controller actually was, or ZAFT, or just what in the hell was happening. Not going to bother watching the other 2 movies. I may try and watch the show, someday, after I get a few more Kamen Rider shows put away.

I did like Strike Gundam, and the one Athrun piloted (forgot it's name at the moment), and assuming I enjoy building the HG I've got coming, I may try to get those two.

Athrun's is the Aegis, which I love for the mobile armor mode. Unlike alot of people I really enjoyed Seed. My only complaint might be the overuse of flashbacks to the same 3 or 4 scenes over and over. The show as a whole was pretty excellent though. Really nice designs that pay tribute to a lot of classic UC designs, even more so in Destiny.

Aegis is cool! And Strike is one of the smartest looking Gundams around! But not my favourite lead though, that has to be Turn-A!

Turn A is excellently weird. I came across the bootleg Hong Kong DVD's about 10 years ago and even with those I still got the gist of it. Really cooky designs for the new mecha they used, but I loved the concept that all Gundam series had taken place on one Earth. And had been periodically erased from history. Except for the secret database on the moon. It has all the key notes of pure sci-fi weirdness/awesomeness.

I've just been perusing dalong.net, checking out some of the Seed and Seed Destiny kits, and oh shit, they made CLEAR kits? Fuuuudge, I might need to get one of those.

Help me roll the dice on an order here people.
