Hellboy 3 needs to happen; Del Toro & Mignola have both admitted they want Bruce Campbell to play the character "Lobster Johnson."
And in unreleated news, the newest Batman is Ben Affleck. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/new...man-man-612907 |

Anyway, I am not amused. |

This news better be false. There is no way they would cast someone crappy ass actor as Ben Asslick for Batman. He is NOT Batman. They might as well have brought back George Clooney. This clearly shows DC does not know how the fuck to make a movie out of their comics. They need to stick to just doing tv shows, at least they can do those semi right. |
Lol at people who said Tyler Hoechlin was a bad choice, then Ben Afleck is cast.

I was rooting for Josh Brolin to get the part , but Ben is fine by me. He will do a great job with the role. Better then Bale did anyway. |
Bale was perfect as Batman. He was both Bruce Wayne AND Batman. Affleck will only be able to pull off Bruce, he is NOT Batman.
|
I was initially shocked and worried by Affleck's casting, but then I realised,
a) I'm one of the few people in the world that liked Daredevil b) That was 10 years ago and actors change c) I haven't seen a film with him in years, and from what I hear he's pretty good now d) I haven't seen the damn film to judge yet. Despite the mixed opinions on MoS, most agree that the casting was pretty excellent all around so obviously Affleck had something they were looking for. I'm still skeptical, but I'm not going to bother damning the film until I have more to go off of. And Bale wasn't all that great as Bruce Wayne or Batman. He was a passable Bruce but his Batman was all "ranting vigilante" and no "world's greatest detective". |

Bale left. They offered him [X] amount of money to come back, and he declined. Bale didn't pull of Bats very well. He always felt so awkward in that costume. Quote:

Watched The Crow City of Angels last night. Regardless of popular opinion, it's still one of the better Crow sequels.

I just came back from City of Bones or whatever it was called. My friend read the book and wanted to watch it, so our usual group just tagged along with her. Some of the most awful, cliched garbage I've seen. Plot holes, unconvincing CGI, and the most predictable plot were just the tip of the iceberg.
The only positive point I can give it is that Bane was really hot. And then they doused him in blue eyeliner, so there goes that. |
Just saw the Hobbit for the first time. Very good movie. Never read the book so I'm not sure if there are any adaptation controversies I should be wary of but any movie where the main focus is on Dwarves rather than Human or Elves is a good thing to me! Thorin is pretty badass and yet utterly...mortal.

Does "Suburban Knights" count as a movie? because that's all i seen movie wise this week.
|
Just watched Jonah Hex, how can I unwatch it? Poor Brolin for being the only suitable casting choice for that movie and them making it shitty.

I never saw Jonah Hex, but now I'm rather curious as to how bad it is.

Read the book. It's a quick read and more focused. The movies are just added a ton of things from other works of Tolkien. Not bad, just long. The Hobbit was my favorite book as a kid. Probably a lot of the reason I love dwarves and the culture of building things that they have. |
I found the Hobbit painful. I loved the book, but it really did feel like they were filming one sentence for every minute of screentime, bloating the film up with random unconnected stuff from the Unfinished Tales. I mean there was still loads of cool action and some really cool mythology, but I'm more of an Urban Fantasy guy, than a swords and sorcery fantasy guy, so I just couldn't handle just how slow this film was.

The Hobbit was the second best movie of last year and Desolation of Smaug is going to be the best movie of the year when it comes out.
Anyway, The World's End is down right hilarious. If you loved Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz, this is an absolute must see! The jokes are hysterical, the plot is fun and unique, and it just screams out to Sci-Fi movies of old. ON the negative side though, the movie does take a while to start moving, and while it is nice to build up the plot, it could have shaved off about 5-10 minutes from the first half of the movie. Other than that though, no complaints and this is easily the best movie of the year thus far! I give it a 9.5/10. |
I saw The World's End yesterday and I was actually a little disappointed with it. I felt the film was lacking the 'every man' quality some of the characters in the other movies had. With so many primary characters none of them seem to really get fleshed out all that well or become terribly likable. The archetypes that are spelled out in the beginning pretty much settle it for character development, except for some Frost and Pegg bits. They aren't all that relatable and the main character isn't that likable. I pity him, but I would neither enjoy his company or want to be like him.
Everyone being such proficient fighters felt weird, too. The martial skills of the characters seemed out of place in the context of who they were and it tended to drag me out of the fight scenes. Part of the epilogue felt out of place as well, especially considering some of the themes of the climax (which I will refrain from spoiling). All in all, I felt this really lacked the heart that both Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz had. It felt more like Scott Pilgrim Edgar Wright than Shaun/Hot Fuzz Edgar Wright. Some people will no doubt love it, and apparently do, and I know at least one of my friends will call it The Dark Knight of Wright/Pegg/Frost films, but it didn't really click with me. |
I'm watching the Princess and the frog.
|
Princess and the Frog is awesome. Disney's best movie since The Lion King.
Anyway, we just watched Paranorman and it was down right hilarious. Great movie, wish I had gone to see it in theaters. I give it an 8. |

Still have to see Looper though. |
So the cinema is dead today. So I Sat in Mortal Instruments, just as a test to see if it really is bad or just unfairly torn to shreds as that genre is cool to hate, let's just say I walked straight to the box office and got my staff ticket. Its unfair to judge a film on one scene, but it happened to be an action scene which although clumsy, was also equal measure intentionally hilarious and badass, better than anything I've seen from Twilight, and for free... lets see just how bad the rest can really be.
|
My favorite movie of 2012 was probably Cloud Atlas, although no one even watched it and the Academy ignored it in every category.

I want to see it, but last time I looked, Netflix and Red Box did not have it. |
Just watched Executive Koala thank to XW1n5t0nX recomendation.
And that was... Glorious!!!! It's so bad it's good and so good it's bad, it doesn't make sense except it totally does, it's completely stupid and it knows it. Whenever you think things are getting predictable it does a 180° spin, it's crazy, crazy awesome. There's no way to properly describe this movie, just watch it. Also I need more movies like this one in my life. |
Just watched Kick Ass 2 and really really enjoyed it. Sucks to see its getting mostly mixed reviews.
|
Watched Casablanca recently, a great movie, I expected an overly romantic story, but thankfully the movie wasn't like that.
The only thing I regret is not watching it before. |
