Do I have to watch any other series to watch those? I mean will those movies spoil stuff from other shows I haven't seen? |
Zero's only appeared in movies. But you may have to watch Dyna & Cosmos since he merges with them in Saga. And Mebius who he succeeds.
One of my favorite quotes is by him. "Zero. Ultraman Zero. Son Of Seven!" |

And there's a spoiler pertaining to Cosmos in Saga. So you have to watch "First Contact". Then the whole series & two succeeding movies.

On an unrelated topic, I've been wondering something while I've been watching Leo: I know that the copyright for the first six shows, Ultra Q through Taro, currently belongs to Chaiyo. We have dvd sets of Ultra Q, Ultraman, and Ultraseven. Is there any way to get Return, Ace, and Taro? Were these ever even subbed? |
But Cosmos First Contact is DUBBED!

It's on YouTube.

Thanks! :D |
You're welcome! A friend of mine watched Gaia on there.
I recently watched Ultraman Powered, who hails from the USA. |

I forgot what the last episode of Nexus I watched was. The last one I saw ended with Komon's girlfriend stepping out onto her balcony.
|
I watched the last couple of episodes of Ginga since Over-Time released them. They're actually alright! ohhhh boy, that plot twist... Overall it's a pretty disappointing show though.
|
I still need to watch the movie that takes place between 6 & 7 and then 8-11.
|
I really like Mebius so far.
|
Thanks for the help guys, I will probably watch all of UltraMan Zero's appearances that I can soon. An UltraMan fan friended me on Facebook and he shares UltraMan pics non-stop and I just want to watch more UltraMan stuff now lol. Zero just calls out to me though.
I know that the movies were mentioned that he's in are subbed and the specials, does anyone know where they are subbed from? |

The Ultra Galaxy Legend movie DVD has official subtitles. Most of the rest of the Zero stuff was subbed by GUIS.

I know nothing of Ultraseven/Dan Moroboshi, but I'm kinda amused by his "Why do you suck?" attitude towards Gen and the "Training from Hell" every episode. The thing that put this above 80 in terms of the show I wanted to watch next, though is that it seemed less "dated" than 80, even though there's only 5 years between the two. Plus the drama stuff in 80 wasn't appealing to me, although I understand the show was retooled to do away with that and make it more of a "tradtional" show. So my Ultraman kick is continuing with Leo, then Mebius, then the Ginga stuff I have downloaded. |
I can't remember the last episode of Nexus I watched.
|
So I'm watching UltraMan Nexus, I was wondering when should I watch the UltraMan 2004 movie that is like a prequel to the series?
|
Nexus is a sequel to the movie. Like how the Cosmos series was a sequel to the First Contact movie.

If anyone knows where I can find it so I can watch it, let me know. I still cannot remember what the last Nexus episode I watched was.

I've been watching it on YouTube. But I can't remember the last episode I watched. It ended with the hero's girlfriend stepping out onto her balcony.
I can't recall my screen name or password to TV-Nihon's forum. |
So is Ultraman Neos a good short show to watch, I just might need something to watch in a few days so, it it worth a watch.

I'm in the midst of watching the original Ultraman thanks to Mill Creek. Say what you will but I love Ragon's face sculpt and the sense of danger the bomb creates.
This is my second time through this DVD set. I finally got the Ultraseven set from Shout and that's next in the que (not to mention finally getting my hands on Jack, Taro, Ace, Joenus, 80, and the Adventure Begins series.) I got a lot of ground to cover. But I have to ask; what is the thought on the Mebius series? Leo is my next purchase (as I want the complete Showa Era on DVD) but I'm wondering if the M bius series is a good series to grab as well. I love the design of Mebius and enjoyed watching him tear it up in The Mega MOnster Battle film (which is my personal favorite: All Hail Belial!) Anyway, glad that this thread is here and hope you don't mind my rather long winded ramble |
I've heard a lot of good things about Mebius, but haven't watched it yet. I want to finish at least Leo first, maybe 80, too.
Those shows you mentioned - Return, Ace, Taro, etc. - are any of those subbed? I'd really like to see more of the 70s stuff but the language barrier is kind of an issue. |
The DVD sets I got are supposed ton have subbing. I'll let you know their quality as soon as they come in

I'm enjoying go through the thread as ljacone is commenting on the Ultraman episodes. I'm making m y back through them myself so this is cool.
REd King and Pigmon have been long standing favorites of mine in the Ultraman series of Monsters. |
Is Ginga any good?

It had some good things in it, but I wouldn't call it a good show.
|
So I finished episodes 10 and 11 of the original Ultraman rewatch and I have to comment on them as I enjoyed them both too immensely for two very different reasons.
Episode 10 was a good episode but I was touched by the end of the fight between Ultraman and Jirass (who looked somewhat familiar.. like I had seen this king lizard somewhere before... ;) ) Up to this point Ultraman has shown up and beat the monster down and left. THis was the first time Ultraman seemed to show sadness at having to kill a monster. I loved this because it seemed that Ultraman knew that Jirass wasn't an inherently evil creature but one driven by a crazy "father". Added some pathos to a monster fight that I appreciated. So much was said with one simple action. Kudos Tsuburaya. The fight with Gyango in Episode 11 was simply hilarious and another great twist to a monster fight. Gango being a child like monster was such a nice touch and seeing Ultraman not really want to hurt this creature was a great follow up to his actions in the previous episode. Gyango was such a weird ass design too, handcuffs for hands and all. His entire fight "strategy" had me and my girlfriend laughing. The thought stone was such a weird idea but in a good way. Anyhoo, I'd forgotten how great the Ultraman series was right out of the gate. Not likely to forget again. |
For the original Ultraman series, what's the best DVD set to get? Is it subbed on blu ray here?
