OG Dragonzords tend to go for about $100 on eBay, with the Legacy one actually costing a little more (Usually about $20-50 more). Dino Megazords (Both original and Legacy) tend to be a little cheaper, floating around online for about $50-100, depending on where you find it (Since you can get pretty nice deals on it). You could probably help her grab a Dino Megazord without too large of a hit to your wallet with some smart shopping and patience. Dragonzord, I dunno... |

I own the Legacy series Dino Megazord, Dragonzord and White Tigerzord. And the black Legacy Dino Megazord. And yes, I love the build quality on them.
Unfortunately, her desire for a Dino Megazord of her own came at a bad time. Her brother owns the Imaginext version, though, so they do play with that together. Just need to keep my eyes peeled. Might hit up the Flea Market this weekend. I've found the old remote control Dino Megazord for $15-20 before. |
Well, it took me 2 months but I finally finished Power Rangers Turbo and man was this series pretty awful. The best episode in the season is hands down the finale, but that doesn't take away from the crap that happened throughout. Bulk and Skull were one of the worst aspects of it because the writers have clearly run out of ideas with them. They are just dead weight at this point and taking up screen time that could go to something more important. On the other hand, I do love the bit when TJ goes to help them out knowing they are not criminals. Divatox and her crew were really annoying and the whole Dimitria has a sister plot went nowhere. In fact, Dimitria was absolutely useless and pointless as she did nothing. If memory serves me correctly, we never even see her again, which makes it even worse. A waste of time and of a plot that could have made the series interesting. I also forgot they turned the big baddie from Carranger into just another average Monster of the Week. UGH!! Overall, thank the gods I am done with it because I am never going to sit through this car wreck again.
|
I love Turbo, it's one of the best series Saban has produced that's not Time Force or In Space.
Really, the qualms I can agree with are Divatox's band being annoying as all hell and Dimetria being the worst mentor since Zordon. |
Matrixbeast we mostly have different opinions, but at least we both like Time Force lol.
I also couldn't stand Turbo when I first saw it, I just couldn't get into it and it felt like a mess in general. Coming off of Zeo (I watched Zeo first before Turbo) which I absolutely loved, it felt like a drop off. But to be fair Turbo2 was better and made it enjoyable, with an great cast that spilled into IS and ended the franchise. Also love TJ and Cassie. But yeah, it's at the bottom for me alongside Mystic Force and Samurai, arguably my least favorite season. At least those good designs were put to good use with Carranger, ironically my favorite Sentai. I finished DT but I'm not going to say anything about it. Started SPD again and it's still pretty good like it once was for me. |
To me, I always felt Turbo was a season that gets struck down for reasons that are noticeably ignored in others, such as Zeo.
Turbo isn't perfect, but I find it quite enjoyable. Rangers who had to solve their problems, fun action scenes to watch, and just an enjoyable cast all around. I really had fun with it. The story was kind of eclectic and all over the place, but much like MMPR and Zeo, that's really nothing new. |
Finished ep 57 of MMPR S1. Ready for a change. Glad The Mutiny is only a few episodes away.
How readily available are the Christmas Episodes from MMPR and where do they fall in chronology? They don't appear to be on Netflix. |
I finished my rewatch of SPD.
I was blessed to have this as part of my childhood. Easily one of the best Power Rangers seasons ever made, great action, awesome characters who felt more flawed and we saw their relationship build as the series advanced, and pretty cool villains, I liked the rivalry between Broodwing and Grumn. And the memories it brought back were endless. Easily one of my favorite PR seasons I've ever seen. |
I watched the first disc of In Space today, which was the first 9 episoes. The show is not as good as I remember. I still enjoyed them, but the effects do not hold up very well and I never realized how bad Astronema's acting was.
There is one thing that I just don't understand though. Bulk and Skull are working with this Professor dude who has been ridiculed for talking about aliens even though THEY LIVE IN A UNIVERSE WHERE PEOPLE IN RAINBOW COLORED SPANDEX FIGHT ALIENS ON A DAILY BASIS!!! Even Bulk and Skull, who have been taking prisoner on many occassions seem to think the alien talk is crazy. o_O Another I noticed is they can't seem to figure out how to use Ecliptor in the beginning. One minute they have him in his second form then the next they are using footage with him in his first form. Did they not notice that his shoulders were different? Why would they have him walking with the spiky right shoulder only to cut to the footage when he had the normal shoulder? Oh, and the Ninja Turtles episode was god awful. One of the worst Power Ranger episodes ever. Those aside, there have been some good moments. I like the bit about Andros' sister being kidnapped and it was fun seeing two episodes in a row that were pretty much the exact plot of the Megaranger version. |
So this thread seems in need of a bump and with the big Twitch stream finally over I've now watched more Power Rangers in a week or two than I have in years (averaging five or so episodes per series). There's a few series in particular I have thoughts on though, so I'm just going to talk about them. Namely the Disney seasons I've never actually seen more than a few episodes of because I stopped following the show for a while after SPD. Speaking of which:
Mystic Force: I'm not really sure what made me stop caring back when it aired but I never got into this show. Maybe it was the theme song. Maybe SPD was just that awesome and it spoiled me. I mean the theme song was definitely part of it though. Anyway, the show itself seems pretty alright. I think if I had given it more of a chance I would've found myself getting into it at the time. And Koragg seems pretty much as cool as Wolzard was in Magiranger, so that's good. Operation Overdrive: I saw the first few episodes and uh, yeah, it's pretty mediocre. I'd have to watch it in full but it seems just barely better than Megaforce? I mean, the cast is way less likable, but not only did OO not hype itself up as a celebration of all things Ranger, it at least got as far as having interesting ideas before f***ing everything up. They even foreshadow the crap out of the big endgame twist with Mack right at the start of the series, showing better long-term storytelling than good ol' Megafarce ever managed. Also I think I like the theme song? It's so bad it loops around into being fun in that cheesy Power Rangers kind of way. Calling these guys "the number one team" is just false advertising though. :p Jungle Fury: Seems pretty good, to be honest. The final three episodes especially are a really strong, even pretty epic finale overall, even if the very last episode packs in a bit too much fighting for its own good. I mean with dialogue as genuinely amazing as "I'm better than okay. I'm good.", how can you go wrong? The show successfully takes a lot of the elements that made Gekiranger so awesome and does its own thing with them, which is great. Not to mention it has RJ, who might be the greatest PR mentor. He's essentially just some dirty hippie, but he covers all the bases at least as good as the other guys. Wisdom that's actually wise, willing to take to the battlefield himself, not overly stern, the list goes on. Maybe if Gosei had trained under this guy instead of Zordon Megaforce would've been a lot better. :lol RPM: Uh... wow. Let me put it this way, I watched the first four episodes, promptly stopped watching, and decided I'm going to get around to a proper full watch of it sooner rather than later. I don't know how I didn't appreciate this series sooner. It's pure postmodern brilliance. Samurai: I started feeling bad about being so hard on Samurai when it aired, which is a little shocking to me. Maybe it's just the residual Kobayashi making me biased, but I kind of feel like it might secretly be the best Neo-Saban series. Dino Charge has originality going for it, to be sure, and you could VERY easily argue it deserves that title, but Samurai at least remembered you're supposed to get better as you go along, and not worse. Plus its hugely rushed production cycle gives it the most solid excuses for its poor quality out of any of the recent shows. There's just a lot I found myself appreciating way more than I did at the time seeing some of these episodes again. For one the overall atmosphere and pacing of the show seems a little more relaxed and decompressed in a good way. I can't describe it very well but a lot of episodes of the shows since feel very "cramped", which in Megaforce's case is easy to see why but with Dino Charge and Ninja Steel I'm not sure why I'd feel that way. I also thought Bulk and Spike were really lame, but having been exposed to Victor and Monty for eight episodes, suddenly I miss their antics. The whole "becoming samurai" shtick actually captured what made Bulk and Skull the legends they are way better than the comic relief we've gotten since. Bulk is constantly talking about the mental discipline and nobility of being a samurai and stuff like that, wanting to pass those qualities onto Spike, rather than just wanting to hit people with a sword because it's cool or something, showing that genuinely heroic side that makes him such a likable dork in the first place. What's heroic about Victor and Monty? Finally, Antonio is great. I mean, this isn't a new thought, I've felt this way since the second he showed up back in 2011, but man, what a shot in the arm he was for Samurai. He brought a ton of energy and charisma to a show that was frequently very dull, and his whole backstory and personality make him super relatable and super likable. Even his stupid Dora the Explorer speech quirks manage to be endearing. He kind of transcends the mediocre show he's in and might actually be one of my favorite Sixth Rangers, which is pretty crazy. -- So yeah, props to Twitch and Saban for doing the whole marathon thing. It's really restored my enthusiasm for the franchise to a level it hasn't been at in forever, even if it had the unfortunate side effect of reminding me just how much of a slump the show is in right now. |
just been watching som emmpr season 1 and man i been noticing alot of things in show. even to the point when they get kids to look like the japanese character for reason of the sentai footage deffently in the power egg episode.
|
Watching Power Rangers for the first time since 05 or 06 with the Beast Morphers premier reminded me how much I used to love the franchise. Decided to try and watch/rewatch the whole series on Netflix. Currently about halfway through Mighty Morphin season 1, and it's just as fun as I remember. I'm so excited to see the entirety of shows that as a kid I was only able to watch whatever episodes I could find on vhs for the 90's stuff, or watched as it aired but still missed seeing episodes for Time Force through SPD
|
The Rangers having to choose between saving Tommy's powers or saving his life was a surprisingly dark moment for a very light hearted show. Surprised they actually went through with the status quo change of him loosing his powers. I didn't remember that happening from the scattered episodes I'd watched as a kid, so it came as a legit surprise
|
Finished season 1 of Mighty Morphin last night. It's been really great to re-experience this show. The monster of the week episodes are usually fun, though at times a bit repetitive, and the multi-parters are fantastic. The extra time to tell the story, and the heightened stakes involved really take it up a notch. Green with Evil, The Green Candle and Doomsday in particular I really loved. One thing that surprised me was how little Tommy was actually in the first season. I figured after loosing his powers he'd stick around as a civilian ally. He definitely lives up to my memory of being the coolest, so I was disappointed in how he disappeared for a bit. Up next is the introduction of Lord Zedd, who I also remember as being really cool. I'll be excited to see if he lives up to my memory too!
|
Finished season 2. It continues to be a really fun watch. Lord Zedd 100% lives up to memory, though he definitely gets a bit less intimidating after the wedding to Rita. Tommy's pretty cool S the white Ranger, though I still prefer green. The three new Rangers, Rocky, Aisha and Adam are mostly cool. Not really a fan of Rocky, his actor doesn't seem to have much in the way of charm, but Adam and Aisha are pretty great. The Thunder Megazord isn't as cool as the original one; I don't remember it as well as I remember the original or the one from the movie with the Falconzord. Similarly, the Tigerrzord isn't as cool as the Dragonzord, but that's pretty hard to beat. Serpenterra was badass, but a bit too OP, meaning it never actually got to do anything unfortunately. Think that's all the new stuff of season 2.
The show was still pretty solid in season 2. Introduced the idea of story arcs outside of multi-parters, with the Tommy loosing his powers storyline and the peace conference storyline. Speaking off that, the show dealing with Jason, Zack and Trini's actors leaving was a bit awkward. The reused footage worked pretty well, but the fill in actors for some of the lines varied dramatically in how well they actually sounded like them, going as far as Trini randomly having a British accent for a sentence. Other then that though, good season. Had a few episodes worse than average, but so did the first. Overall, I'm still enjoying it. Very excited to watch the movie for the first time in a very long time soon. Loved Ivan Ooze as a little kid! |
Finished Super Ninja Steel on DVD recently.
|
After just over a month, I've finished Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Alien Rangers. Season 3 was pretty great. Story felt like it actually had some effort put into it in the second half with the Pink Ranger and Alien Rangers arcs. Heck of a cliffhanger ending to the show the ninja suits were an interesting idea, as was the metallic armor. Ninja zords were cool, I'd remembered then from the movie. Don't remember the Shogun zords though.
As for the new characters, it was a mix of good and bad. I'd completely forgotten who Rito was when they said his name, but I recognized the suit the second it appeared. He was fun for a comic relief villain. Would have been nice if having him around let Goldar become a season 1 style threat again, but unfortunately he's still a bumbling moron now too. Master Vile on the other hand I didn't remember name or suit. He was pretty underwhelming. Not much to say about him. He showed up, failed a couple times, then cut his losses and left. Guess that means he's smarter than Zedd or Rita. Ninjor was disappointing. I remember the suit, and I was excited to see what he'd be like, but his voice was seriously annoying. Not exactly what is expect of a ninja, more of some weird fop. Katherine was great. The idea of someone having lingering effects from Rita's magic was pretty cool, disappointed it's only come up once so far. Her actress is pretty good, even if having a single Australian accent in the middle of a cast of Californian accents is a bit odd. I liked Delphine, was cool to have a woman leading a team. Her and Cestro were the only ones who's names I could remember. Tanya's done so little so far I can't really say anything about her. Oh, and the movie was super fun. Very nostalgic. I watched it on VHS so many times as a kid. Ivan Ooze more than lived in to memory. The movie version of the Mighty Morphin suits were fantastic looking too. Loved the way it made the Dairanger KibaRanger suit blend more with the other Zyuranger suits by putting the coin on everyone's chest. CGI mecha fight was crap though, even for 95 |
Finished Zeo. Overall, it was very ok. It's Rangers were good, Adam Rocky and Tanya got to really shine as characters of their own, not just as replacements for Jason, Zack and Trini, but Tommy ended up getting way too much focus. Speaking of Jason, bringing him back as the Gold Ranger was a cool idea, but they never did much with it. Honestly, I liked Trey as Gold better. Billy was an odd situation. He was my least favorite of the original 5, mainly due to him being the least believable as a teenager. David Yost looked more like someone in his late 30s. Him suddenly turning into an old man and leaving for Aquitar, only healing off screen definitely felt forced. I assume it was another case of the actor leaving unexpectedly.
As for the villains, the Machine Empire was boring. They had no charisma as villains. The Scottish one, Klank I think his name was, and Orbus were fun at least. Gasket and Archerina had potential, but unfortunately they left. Mondo and family getting blown up by Zedd was pretty funny at least. What else is there to say? The plot was fine. It expiremented more in serial story telling instead of pure episodic Monster of the Week, and I appreciate that, but it never seemed to really go anywhere. I don't know, maybe it's just that I never watched much Zeo as a kid, so the lack of nostalgia is making it harder to ignore the fact that it's still just a simple kids show, but I just didn't get that into Zeo. It wasn't bad. The worst of Zeo was better than the worst of Mighty Morphin, but it never seemed to get much better than solidly ok. Hoping Turbo will be better. I remember really loving Turbo as a kid. I definitely remember the villain from the movie, Divatox, being really fun. Hopefully she lives up to memory, and is the villain of the show as well. I think she still was, but I can't remember for certain. |
I'm actually waiting for season 2 of Beast Morphers to wrap up before I binge the whole thing.
I did recently finish up all of Ninja Steel though, and I actually really liked season 1 for the most part. It had some issues, yeah, but it was overall fun and I liked it. Season 2 definitely takes a step down though. I don't hate it or anything, but alot of stuff that made season 1 stand out to me were straight up dropped, and it was just weaker as a season overall. Appreciated the return of MMPR soundtrack though. |
Watched Lost Galaxy's Protect the Quasar Saber where Karone returns and becomes Galaxy Pink. Granted it's a last minute change since Cassie was meant to be the new Pink Ranger, and while Karone ended up becoming a far better choice, I can't help but feel like something's missing, like Karone has already interacted with the Lost Galaxy Rangers since they already acted as friends in this episode.
Again, this is primarily due to last minute change though. And it still amazed me on how Astronema and Karone looked likeas if they were played by two different people. And she sounded different as a Ranger too! Really brilliant idea to have Karone acting like a kid to make up for her lost childhood. Also, an ideal version of this would have Andros as a guest just to have him see his sister finally becoming a Power Ranger. Maybe this should have been a third part of the In Space teamup, but again, this was due to last minute change. |
Lost Galaxy's Facing the Past. While this is the episode that introduced the Battilizer, this is Karone's episode first and foremost, and rightfully so. Hell in an ideal setting Karone would be the one to equip that Battilizer.
I heard that Karone was going to be in this show no matter Cassie became Pink Galaxy or not to the point where they wanted to make her a Lost Galaxy Purple Ranger, that is according to Andros' actor. As much as that idea is intriguing, I think it was just Chris Kayman's wish since the source came from him. And holy shit, the MotW sliced Damon in his human form! You never see that in Toku most of the time, and even when they do, it's usually a fatal attack! And gotta love the few times other Rangers used the Transdaggers' other modes. And Ecliptor cameo!!!! In the opeolning Valerie Vernon was still credited as Kendrix, I heard that they did this so that Saban could help pay Valerie for her treatment. That's........ A surspringly genuine move from Saban. I mean this is Saban we're talking about, the king of screwing people up for money. So to have them do something nice, that is pretty nice for a change. Granted it's probably for PR reasons but still, better than nothing. And still, I hate Saban no matter what. |
Half way done with super megaforce on netflix.
|
Not even gonna lie, I always thought they kept Kendrix in the opening credits because Saban was just too cheap to pay someone to remove her :lol
|
I'll probably give Beast Morphers a chance again.
|
Finished Lost Galaxy. Gotta say....... Villamax might be tied with Ecliptor for best villains ever...... But calling him a villain would be a disservice.
Whereas Ecliptor was clearly on the side of evil but has a sense of honor as well as having heart, Villamax was never really a villain, he just wanted to train Trakeena into becoming stronger and fights the Rangers under her command, basically he wanted to be a knight to serve a queen. Had he met the Rangers earlier he would've probably been an ally of them from the start. The most amazing thing though? He's the exact opposite of his Sentai counterpart. |
Just got Netflix back recently and I decided on a whim to throw on the first episode of RPM to see if it was working well -- just a few minutes, and then I'd move onto the new stuff I wanted to watch. ... aaaaand then I couldn't turn away and I guess I rewatched the full first episode now!
Not a full series rewatch by any means, just Episode 1; but this holds up better than I remember. I am noticing some flaws, mind -- there's some odd sound mixing here and there, unfortunately most particularly on Dillon's first listen to his fobwatch; our first three rangers needed slightly longer introductions imo; and the threat of the Grinders is not built up nearly enough for the subversions of Flynn and Dillon easily dispatching them to work the way they want. Like, literally; outside of stock footage the first Grinder we see is the torso Flynn chucks out his bus. Otherwise, really solid! I love how the tone is built; I love how aside from silly things like 'blaster' painfully standing in for 'gun' they don't shy away from more serious elements but still don't go full-on edgelord with it; many of the interactions are nice; and something I didn't pick up on before is that this episode had one hell of a budget! Like okay sure, there's some super dodgy CGI; but when was the last time Power Rangers had access to anything like a full-on barren desert location? How many takes did some of the fantastic car action near the end take? We talk a lot about RPM's budget in relation to there being almost no Sentai footage, but it's clear how present it is besides that! Just... man. I forget the timing of it exactly, but I think RPM is actually something I watched before Gokaiger; it was either that or almost immediately after, so it was either my big gateway into my big Toku kick or at least a big part of it. I've got no love for the vast majority of Power Rangers and the nature of the franchise, but RPM? Yeah. Yeah I can vibe with this. Super good kid's TV. |
Alot of RPM's' aspects come from how it was originally aimed at 15 years olds. That's why there's alot more "dark" subject matter throughout the show as well as alot of injokes and references that older fans and adults would get. But yeah, RPM is pretty good for the most part, though I do feel it is overhyped a bit much(though how Saban reacted to the show when they got the rights back probably didn't help much).
Even though Ziggy is my favorite character in RPM, my favorite episode is probably Episode 10, "Ranger Blue." Flynn's' backstory and his relationship with his dad was surprisingly touching, and it made Flynn my favorite Blue Ranger up until Eddie in Hyper Force came along. |
I mostly just watch Power Rangers in tandem with podcasts.
|
While I'm still waiting for Beast Morphers to finish airing here in the US before watching it all on Netflix, I gotta say, the latest episode of Let's Talk Toku got me really excited for it.
Speaking of that show, if anyone is at all interested in having a glimpse at a behind-the-scenes/business look at the franchise as a whole, there are two episodes I would highly recommend watching. I'll link them here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tjBrvJGUGY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_KIL-4UqQI These two episodes cover topics like what Saban design philosophy behind their 2nd Era was(and outright confirming alot of what I've been trying to tell people for awhile), why Go-Busters was chosen as the current season to adapt, and also a proposed first draft of a Kyuranger adaptaion, named "Power Rangers Supernova." Which would also be a direct sequel to Beast Morphers. And I gotta say, outside of the idea of bringing Adam back(never got why he was so popular outside of being played by someone who'd later become a famous anime voice actor), it made me really wish we'd gotten that instead of Dino Fury. But as I've said before, Power Rangers+Dinosaurs=Money, so I don't blame Hasbro for choosing Ryusoulger. |
Just got done reading the "Sins from the Future" comic and I gotta say, I didn't really like this one.
I actually rather dug the concept that the comic was originally going with, but then the entire thing goes totally off the rails and they retcon not just a bunch of things established in Time Force proper, but the Ranger mythos as a whole. Overall it's not horrible, but man, this is probably the first time that the comics have really let me down. I guess read it if you're a big fan of Time Force? But even then I feel that big PRTF fans really wouldn't appreciate the retcons the comic introduces, so I dunno. Look up a synposis and read it if it sounds interesting to you, I guess. |
I'm not really much of a comic or manga reader anyway I'm afraid, I struggled to get a complete manga series in order where I live quite some years ago now so I just sort of gave up lol
|
I’ve read it. To be honest, the only really major retcons I found was []Frax creating Venomark and supposedly creating Zordon[]. To be honest, considering I wasn’t that invested in Might Morphin’ or Time Force, I’m not really bothered. I was okay with the last graphic novel (which was a LOt more controversial on Tokutwitter), so I’m okay with this one.
|
Wait, Soul of the Dragon was controversial? I loved it personally.
Though I guess I shouldn't be surprised. People apparently hated the Beyond the Grid arc, whereas I felt it was perfectly fine for what it was. |

My thoughts on that one was that I was dead neutral. Though atleast there I can kinda see what would make people mad about it. |
Well I’ve just watched the end of Lord Arcanon in Dino Super Charge… yeah, it’s pretty anticlimactic and ignoble for the guy responsible for all this. And it’s painfully obvious the end of the Megazord fight was tacked on in Power Rangers because the Sentai fight didn’t have an end. (Kind of the inverse with a fight in Lightspeed Rescue, where they cut off the end of a fight).
|
Oh, I'm not denying the Dino Supercharge finale was kind of bad but I could tolerate it given I had enjoyed the show overall!

I think that the point of the main finale of Dino Supercharge was to provide a solid defeat while keeping the door open for Sledge's return; play it both ways so you can have the best of both worlds! However, it unravels the entire show in a near instance and is effectively one of the darkest moments in the franchise (cause there isn't any indication that the people of that particular Earth survived)! It also begs another more complicated question: we know that the timeline is warped by the end, but what happened to the Rangers of that particular timeline since the team we know is from the pre-warped timeline? Dino Force Brave/Kyoryuger Brave anyone!? |
Just got done reading the MMPR/TMNT crossover.
And it. Was. AWESOME!!! I loved the character interactions, the high amount of energy, and also the various lampshades of the sillier aspects of both franchises, while also honoring them and making them work well with one another with what seemed like no extra effort. It made reading the whole thing alot of fun! I also found it interesting how, while all of the MMPR apsects are kept as one would expect, when it came to the TMNT, these versions of the Turtles seemed to combine various aspects of both the 80s and 2003 versions, kinda making me want a comic based around this specific version of the universe. The crossover ending on a massive sequel hook helped with that. Overall, a fun read and I recommend it to fans of both franchises! |
