The moment Bandai start hitting up Gamera kaiju will be the moment I start throwing money at them. As much as I like the Godzilla figures most of the stuff I really want is Showa era.

Original Gigan, Megalon and Mecha G are musts.

I'm seeking out confirmation as to what this specifically means because there's supposed to be more announcements for the S.H.MonsterArts line this year. At least 2 more.

BTW, how can you read those twitter posts? They just don't make any sense. I click on the links but all I see are "Sure," "Maybe," "Just wait and see later this year," ETC. There is no context to the postings.

You'd have to ask Tamashii Nations yourself. They ruled out those two as shortly forthcoming during the Q&A, yet we know Godzilla '14 is coming soon and then there's the "soon" comment regarding my question on the remaining Heisei kaiju. They've also said this year is "booked," so yeah it sounds like plenty more announcements of '14 releases are coming down the road...it just excludes '89 Godzilla and Gamera.

Well I got Mothra today and the figure herself is so freaking awesome. Unfortunately, I hate her stand because she will not sit flat on it. She is always tilted to one side and I think it has to do with one side of the holder being thicker than the other. It is really annoying. I feel like she is going to just fall out of it at any given moment. I don't have the left leg falling off like other people do, but that could be because I am a bit of afraid to touch them all that much. However, I must state that my god, she is big, very big. I was expecting her to be the same size as Rodan so this is incredible. My only problem is I expect Battra to be bigger and I did not account for that when I dived up my shelf space for those two.

Holy crap she doesn't scale well with 64 goji at all. Might have to hunt down the revoltech. I've seen reviews where they have Mothras legs wrapped around the cradle to give it more stability.

Were you really expecting a Heisei monster to scale with the Showa one?

Well I knew she'd be big but I didn't think he'd be dwarfed like that. Glad I got her when I did BBTS only has six left as of this post. I was going to get Battra but they sold out.

The teeth don't look very good in those shots, but I'm still eager for this figure to be released.

And hopefully we'll get an accessory set for him later on with an accurate atomic breath piece and more "to scale" buildings to go with him. I doubt it will happen, but that would be cool.

The only issue I see is the teeth. Everything else looks fine.

The red on his mouth looks bad. It looks like that he just finish eating a cherry pie.

MonsterArts Legendary/2014 Godzilla.

All this shitting on it has me seriously worried about mine and me not liking it and regretting passing on the NECA one. :/

So maybe somebody here will actually listen to me (unlike a certain sister site...) and try to actually explain what's so bad about it. I get the teeth paint not being clean. The revelation of the potential for lazy eye seems pretty bad. But those are two arguably small things to completely throw out any appreciation for the figure whatsoever and declare NECA's "the winner." "Oh, it's just better" does not satisfy me as a consumer. It's not an explanation.

A lot of butthurt in the Godzilla collection-community comes from this being the 60-anniversary figure made by Tamashii for the big birthday. Instead of G54. And when the figure showed lacking paint-apps, they totally jumped the gun and felt the urging need to downgrade this figure as much as possible. Like, saying the cheap NECA-one with the bendable tail is "better". That NECA also has pretty mediocre paint-apps and the fact that the big NECA-figure is a QC-Nightmare, is easily forgotten as it seems. NECA still delivers good figures for the money, but I don’t like them being compared to Tamashii all the time.

Oh, and you are also a criminal for buying this figure, because you support cheap paint-apps. Somehow.

The people who actually own this figure are pretty happy with it, really good sculpt, articulation and the paint is great, except for the head of course. This is a fact that cant be ignored: The paint on the teeth and eyes is bad. But if it bugs you, buy some white acrylic-paint and paint it over.

The thing is, the people who own the figure and have big problems with it are the loudest. The paint-apps on mine are fairly decent.

If you do end up wanting the NECA one, I'll sell you mine for $20 shipped. I bought it as a placeholder at first, but it just didn't cut it for me. Paint apps rarely bother me too much. I'm an articulation junkie. So better articulation wins every time. Even if the paint apps do suck.

I can't wait to get my Goji '14. Still waiting on a few things before my Sept order ships.

I'm very disappointing in what I have seen for the 2014 MA. His teeth look like shit. His mouth and nose look like he just got done drinking Kool-Aid. And now there seems to be issues with the eyes. You would think these people would know how to paint eyes on properly. Are they watching "Young Frankenstein" and looking an Igor for their reference? I doubt that. For a $75 toy, those issues are simply unacceptable. I am a big advocate of the MA line. I have forgiven them for the piss poor job they did with Ghidorah's wings. For the poor quality control on Space Godzilla, Godzilla 2000 and Adult Jr. However, this is just pure bullshit laziness. The toy is already five months late from when the movie was released, so to have it come out half assed is a major disappointment.

Do I think NECA's is better from a sculpt point of view? Good god no. Nevertheless, my NECA figure does not have British teeth, red juice on his nostrils, and bad eyes. Bandai has clearly dropped the ball this year when it comes to the Figuarts and MonsterArts lines and it is upsetting because they just keep raising their prices while decreasing the quality of their toys. Not to mention they didn't even bother trying to make their Xenomorph a good toy. Bandai needs to put on their A game in 2015 or I am going to cut down on what I buy from them and become a very picky buyer.

I opened up my Goji 2014 today. The teeth don't even bother me that much. Some other monsterarts have just as messy of a mouth. I absolutely love it. The only issue with mine is the tail likes to pop off, but that's nothing major. Still intensely better than the neca version, which looks worse to me in every aspect.

So you don't have funky eyes?

Nope. Very mustard yellow with a very defined pupil. And both pointing in the same direction. Maybe less than a millimeter alignment difference.

I received my Legendary Godzilla today.

He also seems fairly flawless and I couldn't be happier. The eyes (not that you'd ever really notice since they're so damn small) are both clear and pointed in the same direction. The mouth is bloody, yes, but only the teeth - it's not splashed all over the place like some people implied. And oh well. It bloody (heh) well makes sense for a carnivorous monster.

He looks great and I've had a good deal of fun with him. If there's any problem I have it's that I wish the neck could move to the side more.

Battra Mothra Larvae is my favorite to far. Battra looks amazing and the articulation on Mothra is fantastic. I was very impressed with how easy it was to pose Mothra. The silk web acccessory - i think its super fragile so that is staying in the box.

Yeah, they are really great. Battra isn't in my top 5 though, as Biollante, G2000, G Birth, Mothra, and Kiryu are still there, but it is such an incredible figure nonetheless. Amazing paint apps and sculpt. No defects or quality control issues at all. I wish every release had this much care put into it.
