Real question, is Geed considered the anniversary series? I know Ultraman won't be at the 30th series until the next, but it has all the references, and embraces all of the Ultramen series as a unified thing.
This episode gave me chills. I'm glad this was the series I started watching to introduce myself to the Ultraman universe. It makes me want to go backwards like I did with Sentai and Kamen Rider. |

if you like Geed you're probably going to like Max and Mebius I think, and probably X as well. But I would think definitely Max and Mebius. They feel similar in a way.
(I haven't watched Orb yet but I haven't heard anyone say anything bad about that one.) |

I would also say that I understand why Geed feels like an anniversary of sorts, purely because of it's connection to the Franchise is general.
You've got Belial and Zero who both have a history that goes way back before Geed, and Zero who has Seven as his dad, so there's a lot more substance to some of the characters in this compared to other shows that start off completely fresh like say Max or X. Speaking of, Geed 17, epic, freaking amazing, I loved it. That's really all I can say because everyone else said everything already. |
Episode 17 was goddamn great. Royal Mega Master is a fun new form for Geed but I still think it's his weakest looking form.

So this video was posted to the Tsuburaya youtube channel. Anyone have any idea what she's talking about? |
guessing she's a new character?
no idea. Hopefully that doesn't take screentime away from my unrequited crush, Moa. :p |

Something like that. |

Another girl joins Riku's growing harem.

The info that REM will get a humanoid form has already been out for some time. Plus Mimori is Rem's voice actress to begin with so unsurprising that she's playing her humanoid form.

Man, Geed really does just refuse to stop being so good week after week, huh? You'd think bringing Kei "Game Master in-training" Fukuide back after Belial finally showed up would feel like a huge downgrade, but this episode did a very nice job building him back up.
Also the theme songs finally switched verses, so that's something. |
What is the light inside Kei anyway? Does it mean he's also carry a Little Star or something?
|
It is nice you can view it on Crunchyroll. It is not too bad so I am in the middle. But will keep on going at it to see if it improves or gets worse.
|
Saw last week's episode. Honestly, Royal Mega Master doesn't look bad per se, it's just a huge downgrade from Magnificent
|
I agree, I think the gold is off-putting. It just doesn't look like an Ultra color and there's so much of it.
This weeks episode was great. I'm curious how long the 'Misery/I'm your #1 Fan' woman is going to last. Every week it's a good episode. I can't think of a single bad, boring or "filler" episode so far and we're almost 20 episodes into the series. And every episode has at least one moment where I think the camera work really shows the giant scale of these fights in a great way, even if it's just Geed landing after transforming from Riku to Geed. The camera work is really good. And I actually want an action figure of 'Salary Man Zero', to go with my Zero figure. Which surprises me because, "Asian man in a suit" is not what you'd typically want for an action figure. Hahaha. But that guy is just a perfect Zero. |
When will Kei Fukuide use the evil Ultras for fusion rise?
- Ultraman Belial - Dark Zagi - Dark Mephisto - Evil Tiga |
Meh, most "evil" Ultras are just repaints anyway. I'd rather the show stick with the monster fusing because that's far cooler.
|
Yeah, this episode was dope. Loved the way they re-introduced Fukuide Kei, the return of an Alien Dada (with a sweet ass mecha by the way) and the "new dawn" of the upcoming episodes.
At this point, I'm wondering how Belial will come back. Will Fukuide Kei "transform" into Belial or will Belial hatch out of him or something? Belial went down way too easily, this has to be a part of his plan. Also, I really liked Royal Mega Master in this episode. I love how he is the Kiwami Arms of the Ultra Brothers, I did not expect him to be able to channel all individual Brothers for attacks too, that was really cool. Also just gorgeous fight choreography, they utilize the cape really well. |

Hey, I actually have a few different things to say about an episode for once!:
- Geed's consistent quality makes this so obvious I feel like I don't even need to say it, but this was a solid episode that accomplished what it set out to do very well. The unique part is that "what it set out to do" this time was build on a character who is, for one thing, just a disembodied voice, and for another, more in the background that nearly everyone else in the series. Naturally dealing with that first part was pretty easy, but the way Geed effortlessly pulls together every bit of continuity it can remains as impressive as ever. The recap before the opening even pulled those last lines from the recap episode. Like apparently that was foreshadowing? Stuff's crazy, man. - Kei's officially a fully fledged Game Master now. No more "in-training" qualifier. Did you SEE how much he was enjoying himself here? - Zero losing control of Reito's body seemingly entirely because someone put the glasses back on might be the funniest thing I've seen in Toku since that time in Gingaman when Bull Black shot that truck off the road to loot its cargo of tomatoes. Major props for writing him out of another episode. I don't mind how active Zero is in this show but it's always nice when Geed gets to do things himself. - You know, I was just being willfully ignorant for the sake of a joke, but Riku naming Rem after a Donshine character only further supports my theory that the thing under his bed is fan-fiction. Just about everything else in this kid's life seems to come back to that TV show, right? In all seriousness though, it's cool how much that revelation actually does match up with the first episode, where Riku seemingly pulls that name out of nowhere and then just goes along with Rem's own explanation. I thought I was missing the joke or something at the time, but evidently I wasn't. |
episode 19 is not geed's best, why the villain can enter the base through the front door, and why riku not transform or beat that nearly dead villain. why all of the good guys become jobber in that particular moment.

I'm going to say it right now. If Amazon ever creates an Alexa in real life, we're doomed as a species.

This episode was okay. Cute filler, nothing extraordinary, just a decent and fun one.
|
it reminded me of that pilot Battlestar Galactica episode '33' where they had to constantly jump every 33 minutes for days because the Cylons are following them to their new coordinates every 33 minutes.
the close up shots of the clock watching and the oppressive feeling of 'when will it end' as well as showing the exhaustion of the crew/Geed,...all reminded me so much of that episode I have to wonder if it's an homage. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/33_(Battlestar_Galactica) |
Holy crap, Riku really has a serious harem problem going on. Now we're up to housewives. Being an Ultraman really gets the chicks. And the kaiju that look like chicks.
|
Finally got around to watching the latest episode. Kiwami summed it up pretty nicely.
I think this is the first real filler episode Geed has actually had aside from the recap episode. Of course, that was the REALEST of filler, being a straight up budget conscious way to literally fill a slot in the episode count. This one just didn't build on anything, something Geed has thus far been very good at remembering to do. There's those tiny scenes with Kei but don't be fooled, people, they're just trying to make the episode seem more relevant than it is. That being said, I still enjoyed myself about as much as usual, and hey, the heroes had to save the day with teamwork and creative thinking, so that's nice. At the end of the day, I'd call this the weakest episode of Geed so far ...by default. |
|
Really wish I could stop sounding like a broken record with Geed, but, at any rate, here's my thoughts on episode 21:
- It was great - This show rocks - Donshine spinoff plz Tsuburaya |
at the least we should get a 20 minute Special of Rikus favorite Tokusatsu character.
...and more Moa,..there can never be too much Moa. :D |
Riku's treasure is a $10 Donshine clock. Riku you dope.
I know that thinking about power levels in toku shows is dumb, but this episode made me go aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I liked this episode though. It was... cute. We start getting serious next week though! Quote:

This episode was fantastic, and I realized something that made me quite happy: When the clock broke and Riku was a bit of an ass, Laiha was not stepping in and shouting at him for how childish it is.
The Laiha we met at the beginning of the show would've done it. But now that she's with those guys for so long, she knows that her making a fuss about it won't solve anything and that the clock is important to Riku regardless of how cheap and silly of a thing it is. She has fully adjusted to being with Riku and Pega which shows such a wonderful progression in character development. And when she does talk about it she pushes Riku in the direction that will work the best for them. You know, instead of making Riku feel guilty about being a little bit of a weirdo. Even before the earthquake, Laiha approached them giggling over Donshine merchandise, and you would expect a remark from her about how silly of an activity that is, yet she just rolled with it. It's a little thing to note but I feel like the writers actually cared. Instead of giving Leiha an archetype that she must follow they had her warm up a little. But of course, the bulk of the episode is dedicated to Riku's and Pega's bromance which is a wonderful thing as well. But to be honest, I'm not very pleased with Pega's backstory. I wished for something a bit more... important. Which would give him more focus in future episodes? But hey, Ultraman shows are short these days, maybe it just isn't supposed to be. Lastly, I love Ultraman episodes where the monster is treated with care if it isn't evil. Geed walking over to Gubila and petting the poor thing was so adorable. Before I end this, was anyone else a bit disappointed that Pedanium Zetton didn't split into two halves after he was hit by the Ultraman Ace finisher? They didn't have to as graphical with, maybe you just see a little bit of a split before it turns to energy dust. But that's a really minor nitpick, I just thought it would've been neat. |
