Blech. I hate this design... but I do like some of the concepts behind it. Really hoping those major design-element differences you're referring to elevate it... like, a lot.

Eeeh with how the Saber name is front and center, I think Saber's actual form is covered up. That might be a new form or 2nd Rider for Saber.

The official press conference for Saber will be held Wednesday the 29th.

I would disagree with this. I love Ex-Aid the show, but the suits are still ugly as all hell.

Ugly is different from bad though. The Ex-Aid suits are not my favorite either, but most of them (and indeed the lead suit) communicate their intentions and ideas very clearly.

So we see Saber Fire-Dragon , Saber Water-Lion, the gimmick for Peter Pan and what appears to be a different power up for fire-dragon.

So, here's his belt and dagger that goes into the belt. The eyes just look a tad bit over designed. The one where they light up in flames in the book look better. Hey, maybe that's why they are like that.

The collectible items will be called Wonder Ridebooks.

The collectible looks neat alone, but the driver and especially on the driver is screaming ugh why. I'm sure it's impressive in the show with a real lengthy saber sword dagger, but the toy version doesn't look like cosplay material for kids either. It's not intimating with those slots gimmick . I'm still waiting for the day bandai nailed the gimmick and the driver in a uniform way.

Yeah, the books do seem kind of superfluous and clunky. I was hoping for some more emphasis on the sword gimmick. I liked how the Progrise Keys were handled with them getting neatly placed out of sight behind the Driver. These books pretty much just sit there and be like "hey, we're books!" Sentai isn't afraid to ditch the collectible gimmick sometimes, like with Kiramager, so maybe Rider should be a little less dependent on them.

I guess the blue Rider Mr. Infobox saw was Blaze? I'm not sure why a water elemental Rider would be called Blaze though. And have you noticed that Riders with names starting with "Burei" are always a shade of blue? I think this is the third time.

I kind of hope Ohmori isn’t he producer again for this season. As do quite a few people on the TL actually.

It’s funny you mention the driver/books because I happen to think it’s kinda charming. My favorite thing about Saber right now is the Swordriver. Not because of the cool sword in sheath thing, but because it’s a bookshelf. That brings me so much joy and I don’t know why. It’s so dumb, but it’s charming.

Sentai always skip gimmick every other year for the mist part. KR is toei bread and butter in toku.
The books are cool by themselves . The empty black void is annoying on the belt. It might be impressive like jin burning falcon where it grows from a dinky dragon dagger like to fill fledge sword. Speaking of 01,
I feel like 01 will get a bug budget v cinema Vod to replace summer movie . Idk if there will be December movie with cases rising. 01 summer movie alternative form might be deigned already.

Every other year is overestimating it. Kyoryuger-Ninninjer and Kyuranger-Ryusoulger all had the gimmick. You're right that Kamen Rider is Toei's main source of profit so it makes sense that they would be less willing to take risks. Maybe if Kiramager has successful merchandise sales, they might reconsider.

Gosh, I hope not, that would be worst case scenario for me, especially if his incompetent sidekick Haganeya Jin is on the staff as well. I might have to skip it after 2 episodes if that happens.

No, I haven’t seen Build yet. It’s because his shows have generally followed the same formula (monsters show up, Rider appears to fight them, monsters get shunted out in favour of evil guys with their own henshin items, dramatic reveal concerning the lead and the final boss being an evil Rider who keeps getting more overpowered just to keep the show running. (Cronus absorbing Gamadeus, Evolt achieving Feverflow, Ark-Zero downloading into the satellite), and its making Kamen Rider seem stale and boring. Especially considering how interesting Kiramager and Z are, which makes the tiredness of the formula stand out more.

Goseiger is like kiva in psuedo gimmick. Gokaiger and decade are the true gimmick heavy gimmick starter of the last decade.

yes, every other year. If you tally up the cost of each odd year and even year you'll see a huge different in cost. Maybe no gimmick isn't the right word of choice. Sentai always does one year toy heavy that rely gimmicks collectible to activate more lights and sounds either in the changer or the mecha. Then the consecutive year they tone it down. If gobuster performed well, then I could see toei ditching the spandex and heavy axuilary in favor of more advance transformation and articulation . Now we're getting bricks after bricks even ryusolger the main mecha look like it can pose a lot, but it didnt . Eevn in the show it give up what we saw in eps1 with all running acrobats like dairanger Early episodes.

Decade, w, o, fourze, wizard, gaim, driver, ghost, exaid, build, zio, 01 all have gimmicks every year without fail.

Wow, those fiery eyes look angry! It kind of makes me hope that Saber will be a somewhat more aggressive or ruthless. I do like the wholesome cheerful heroes who just want to protect everyone's happiness, but it seems like lately every main Rider has been like that, so it would be a welcome change to see Saber break that mold.

I could picture a Ex-Aid or Den-O-ish protagonist who is calm or soft-spoken most times but gets fired up as a rider as one of the possibilities.

I thought that about Zero-One, he had a serious/aggressive designed face but you see Aruto, a literal comedian. Sure Aruto became serious in the back half/3rd of the show but I’m hoping for a main Rider that’s more serious from the jump. Like Tsukasa range or maybe even a Shouichi or Godai where they’re light as civilians but serious when transformed. Shinnosuke was pretty badass most times outside of when Drive had to lean more into slapstick.

No, not every other year. Resshas, Dial Fighters and Trigger Machines are all collectible and compatible with their respective Morphers. Zyuohger and Kiramager don't have anything like that.

Good to know that the sword determines the Rider but that just makes me question the books even more since they're only used for form changes. Couldn't you just have a symmetrical black-white-black default form for Saber by only using the sword without the dragon book?

The motifs are a little weird as well with 2 animals and 1 faerie tale. Divine Creature and Sacred Animal are virtually synonyms. It's not really much different to Progrise and Zetsumerise Keys but replacing extinct with fictional.

I compared the glyphs and the inscription on Saber's sole reads: "Kono ashi de Rider Kick" which translates to "Rider Kick on this leg".

I nearly burst out laughing reading this. No offence to your translation skills by the way.

That is hilarious (Kamen Rider! Never change!), but it is an unbelievably missed opportunity.

The glyphs should be reversed, like a printing press. It should leave it as an impression on the monster just before it explodes.

So going out on a limb here and guess the Finisher is done by tapping the big ol fuckin crest on the weapon and inserting the sword back into the Belt. Pulling it out to do a sword finisher and keeping it in there for a good ol Rider Belt.

I'm guessing the actual reason the text is there is maybe because Saber will start off as a rookie (since Blaze is mentioned to be Saber's senior), so perhaps Saber wrote the text there to remind himself just in case he forgets in the middle of a fight.
