I'm pretty sure ZakuZaku is potato chips according to how the form and gochizo looks, it doesn't really make sense though, as all the other forms he has so far are sweets, I'm hoping this is a Jin/Flying Falcon thing where it's used a little bit and then becomes another rider's main form.

Yeah, looks like the forms in the poster were illuminated in the colors of their respective Gochizous. Brown is already partially red, so red light just makes it look red.

Reminds me of how the Ryusouls had limited lifespans and the Ryusoulgers would have to say goodbye to them before getting new ones. It's the only case I can recall where the gimmick items are revealed to be sentient halfway through the show.

I know right! That Hibiki summer movie literally started with an important character getting eaten, it was just too much for me, even by the usual Inoue standard. Totally don't want a repeat of that in Gavv.

I hope it's like Gotchard with a sensible amount of Riders. No superfluous Over Demons or Aguileras.

Like I said before, Aruto reclaims Flying Falcon for good at the end of the first arc, hence it's no longer Jin's main form as he gets Burning Falcon instead.

I already know, I was just initially deceived by the large poster due to the similarity of the head to a bee and the already mentioned theme of sweets. I think the chips were taken because of their popularity with the main audience. Regarding themes for other riders, I see rider options on the theme of wagashi - Japanese folk sweets; McDonald's and the like; and also a fan of healthy food.

I think that Reiwa riders are not ready to give up the animal motif and Gavv is a kangaroo or a rabbit. Personally, I'm against the rabbit, because it would immediately put the big-eared one in third place after the grasshopper and the dragon as themes for the main riders, and he doesn't deserve that. On the other hand, if Gavv is a kangaroo, then the belt is his bag, and the gimmicks are the children. Which he eats. And this concept is very creepy if you think about it.
Alternative - Gavv's base form is a ninja wearing an animal mask and claws designed for climbing walls. But for such a concept the visual is somehow boring.

And that's okay! I've said my piece and will be moving on. Of course I'll still read the thread and see if something catches my eye, and I'll probably tune in as usual because judging books by covers and all that.

I just know for sure my wallet will be taking a break this season due to the aesthetic.

Seems like the toy people are trying to reproduce what made Gaim merch sell so well. They've tried iterating different elements of those ideas periodically ever since: audacity, food, an insane number of forms, apparently-swappable armor over a common undersuit, etc. It doesn't look like this will be a multiple-Riders show in the manner of Geats, Saber, Ex-Aid, and Gaim, but maybe they've found over time that the many-Riders model doesn't perform the way they want it to.

This definitely feels more like Gaim's gimmick than anything they've done since, but maybe I'm being thrown off by the potato-chip samurai's resemblance to Gaim. There seems to be a real joy in the details of the designs: the melting-chocolate "poncho," the squeezing-the-bag sword handles, etc.

I'm curious as to what the retail action figure gimmick will be, since that always seems to have a profound effect on any Hesei-and/or-Reiwa Rider's design. That'll then get translated to So-Do, figuarts, etc. Right now, it looks most like Zero-One-esque swappable armor, but it's always possible I'm missing something.

I am very curious as to how the collectibles with adorable cartoon faces on them will go over with their target demographic.

Now that you mention it, I now wonder if they will ever play with the idea of repercussions for using the powers of a Kamen Rider in this show. I mean, even in real life we consider snacks like gummies and chocolate harmless in small servings, but we all know how over consumption of such things could lead to health issues be it weight issues, cavities, and diabetes even. Maybe not right away, but perhaps around the supposed third arc of the show maybe? For example, the numerous henshins and the use of ultimate form starting to taking a toll kind of like Blade to an extent. And seeing how the Gochizos are pretty much candy ghosts maybe it could lean into rhat?

In other words, if the audience is not interested in the character, they will not buy his toys.

But real talk I hope they don't have the usual sport bike or dirtbike. I kinda want a decked out Super Cub. Will I be disappointed if they don't? Nope, just a personal wish because I love the design. Either way I'm sure they already have another motorcycle from Honda customized with all the decorations to use in scenes every once in a while.

Well, there is a long tradition in Kamen Rider of the Riders getting their power from the same source as the villains/monsters, so the writers could emphasize that aspect this season by making the Gochizous dangerous unless they're used carefully, e.g. without a driver. Like I hope it doesn't get too preachy (at least not more than most Rider seasons are about friendship and hope and stuff), but they could have Gavv and any other heroic riders kinda represent enjoying snacks in moderation, while the monsters and villains represent over-indulging, with the overall message that "a little treat is good, but don't eat too much."

Well, Geats rode for quite some time. And Gotchard?s statistics are still normal, especially if you take into account the time when others rode Golddush or he rode on his own. So you can count on it not going down to Revice?s level. Plus, riders always tended to forget about the bikes towards the end. Even Kuuga was guilty of this.

Given that the theme seems to be not just candy but snacks (given the Pringles), I wouldn't be at all surprised if later power-ups pull from healthy options, but fruit's already been done by a previous series, and damned if I can figure out how to make a trail mix or yogurt-parfait form look cool.

You just know somebody at Bandai is kicking themselves that "fruit basket" has already been used as an ultimate form.

On another note: chances that Bandai will try partnering with a specific brand? Given the gummies and given Ex-Aid's Pac-Man form, I wouldn't be wholly surprised.

Exactly! If you're going to sell a whole bunch of characters, then I think they should be distinct and likable enough. However, if Gaim is the template, then that show is full of psychopaths and traitors, so I'm not sure what appeals to the primary demographic of kids.

Gavv's lollipop form looks like how I would imagine Slash's Final Form.

Reminds me that Yellowbuster was actually encouraged to eat candy as she would lose power if she forgot to eat them. Of course, Saban Brands were too cowardly to adapt this though. Like, I get that it's bad in excess, but I think adults should take responsibility for their own lifestyle choices, instead of blaming junk food for their poor health. Generally, I like them. The chocolate and chips forms are my favorites so far. But maybe I'm also biased towards those snacks. :lol

Love that Gavv's alternate forms look so distinct. This isn't a Rider whose form-changes are just add-ons, or who has a distinct base look that they replicate with different color schemes. Each of these forms looks like it could be a separate Rider. I feel like it's been a very long time since they've done something like that.

Also, I just realized that toenails aren't even used in rider kick because there's a huge boot for it. Although, obviously, Gavv will have several finishers, which means there will be a use for the claws.

I also thought that, for the sake of variety, it would be nice to have a well-spoken rider, able to speak convincingly and even convince a doubting antagonist verbally, and not just with his heroic deeds. It’s just that all the riders before were divided into those who simply communicate normally and are unable (or unwilling) to formulate their thoughts so that they don’t sound like nonsense. It’s worth touching the other end of the spectrum at least once.
P.S. Perhaps Touma can be considered to express his thoughts a little better than usual, but still this is not enough.

Toy listings are up on Tokullectibles, and although I may be misreading it, it looks like there's another character, Kamen Rider Valen, who uses a henshin gun and the Chocodon gochizo, so likely a two-gun Western theme given the Gavv ChocoDon form. I'm guessing this is a rival, but there's no way to know until they release more information. They're being released as separate action figures in the retail line, with cross-compatibility, so Valen comes with bits for Gavv to use in the form.

Also looks like a new form (my best guess: the first super-form, also likely to get ignored in favor of a Q2 upgrade), for Gavv called CaKing. Cake, maybe?

Valen probably is wordplay on St. Valentine, thus Chocodan being the default go-to gochizou probably, and personal speculation, a subtle nod to Garren perhaps.

Well, then I think it's too early to discount the drawing with red Gavvu. And I think it's pretty obvious when this rider will get an episode dedicated to him. Henshin with a gun sounds like an excuse to sell an expensive toy, but considering the concept of eating gimmicks, the weapon should be quite interesting. I wonder if it is also alive? It is also quite possible that this is the case with Geats and all the forms Gavvu presented are not his forms, he just uses them once or twice for better sales.
