Eugh, really? I can never get into slice of life shows...or even ones that have slice of life elements. Maybe it's just the ones I've seen though, but that makes me a little less excited to see patlabor.

Anyways, 4 episodes into Code Geass (I was so tired I almost fell asleep during the last episode, otherwise I would have watched more) and i've been really enjoying it so far. It seems pretty much like Death Note with mecha, which is cool.

I haven't seen SEED in a LONG time, but I think I could see it. Should I even bother with R2 though? I heard it's nowhere near as good as the first series.

The mechs seem to be an element of the plot but not the main focus, it's ultimately a cop show.

I guess, at least for completion's sake.

Finished Angel Beats! I had not seen the ending coming at all. That was very, very touching (even if it does make one question the timeline of that world).

Moving on to Log Horizon then.

That's what it seemed like, but a lot of real robot shows seem less focused on the mecha themselves and more focused on the war or whatever the mecha are being used for, so it makes sense.

My friend said it was awesome, and he generally has good taste and decently high standards, so i'll probably watch it

As a whole it holds up, but the second season is undeniably weaker.

The two movies I saw has a bit more of a serious tone with the 2nd being more like a detective movie.

I'd say the third was the weakest though, definietly skip that.

Well since the first season does not have an ending, yes, you definitely should. The biggest problem with the second season is it aired 6 months after the first had ended, so the feel of the show is different due to the passage of time. The show starts back up about 6 months later and even though we did not see what happened, time continued to pass in the Code Geass universe, so it throws you off the first time you watch it. It takes a few episodes to get used to it and for things to be explained. When they do though, my god it is freaking incredible. Everything Ledouch does has a purpose to it and it is shown in the final episode.

Saw episode 178 of Fairy Tail's sequal, it was pretty good involving the team that Fairy Tail was using in the GMG the only obstacle for them is Iron Rock Jura, one of the Ten Wizard Saints *how the hell do you have 10 saints in a show with mages beating the shit outta evil people? eh I guess it works, somehow :lol*.

Ah, I always thought that, since it was split into two shows (as opposed to Code Geass being 50 episodes long) that R2 was more of a sequel series that came a bit later on and worked somewhat independently of the first (while obviously still being connected)

Anyways, I just finished episode 14. Wasn't really a fan of that episode, but the series has been great so far.

It is becoming a habit for shows to split their series between two seasons now. Code Geass aired after Gundam 00 finished, then Gundam 00's second season replaced that which was replaced by R2. Both series were planned to be 50 episodes, but instead of having to rush production on them, they split the series into two seasons spread over the course of 2 years between the two series.

Seems like Space Dandy is doing that too, but why not just have it be a two-season show like US shows do? Season one airs about 24 episodes, then they spend a year making more episodes and air them in the fall again. I guess the Japanese could find our system of doing that ^ weird, though.

I think it was really smart to split both those shows into two seasons. I felt it kept 00 refreshed and exciting and kept the quality up to a high level. I've never seen Code Geass so....

Valvrave did that too: they aired the first 13 before coming back and finishing it up and I know Buddy Complex is another series that's doing that.

Yeah, and Fairy Tale just came back after like a year off. In fact, I hope this shows Japan that it is okay to take breaks during manga based series when they run out of material instead of giving us hundreds of episodes of filler to the point that they have to change the name of the show to let the audience know they are done with the filler.

I've always wondered that too. Are they worried they'll lose some of their audience if there isn't a constant stream of new episodes?

...and doesn't Naruto Shippuden have MORE filler than Naruto?

Yep, which is why I expect someday they'll end up calling the show Naruto THe Final Act.

Aye, One Piece is dangerously close to catching up to the manga. I've been wondering what will happen then for a while now.

The great thing about One Piece is that due to the nature of the storytelling filler is very easy to do. "Oh yeah we took a detour to this island." I'm not saying their filler is good, no filler is really all that great but with shows like Bleach or Naruto which have very static locations and very long arcs, the transition from filler back to the story back to filler again was always super awkward.

This is the reason why it's hard for me to watch anime that's more then 100 episodes long unless it comes on TV or somethin.

While that's ordinarily the case, this current arc is so long (it's not even over in the manga) that they can't really do that. So when filler finally happens it'll probably be the typical random awkward affair other shounen series suffer from.

yea well there has been some of the EDo Filler for one piece that i wish the bring back that they use mid way in arc so it breaks up.

The only filler of One Piece that I will say is good is the Navaronne stuff. Like the current arc that came out on DVD with the Winter Family is so bad I haven't even been able to finish it.

I generally don't mind filler, as long as there's not too much of it. Dragon Ball had a lot of filler, but it all either enhanced the story a little bit or it provided a short break from the longer arcs. If only the filler in Dragon Ball Z was as good as in Dragon Ball :\

Yu-Gi-Oh!'s Noa Arc filler was not bad and we got some good background on Kaiba that was discussed in the manga. However, DOMA completely jacks up the characters for half of the cast while the Kaiba Grand Prix is just boring.

So I checked out the first episode of Heartcatch Precure. All in all, not so bad.

The opening fight between Dark Precure (LOVE YOU DARK PRECURE! :D) and Cure Moonlight was amazing and set up the series nicely. As for the two main characters... Erika is a little annoying and Tsubomi seems like she's trying way to hard to be cute. They seem like they'll get better as the series goes on so I'll just count it as a nitpick for now.

All in all, not half bad. Heartcatch seems like an enjoyable show and I'm looking forward to seeing what it has to offer. :)

For some reason, I can't remember anything from after Battle City...Maybe I just never saw any of it? I don't know, but I really enjoyed the show up until that point.

Soul Eater comes to mind as a show with AWFUL filler.

I always took Tsubomi for more of a female Ryotarou. :lol

and yeah, Dark has an awesome design, I actually got her Figuart just last week. She's cool, but her dress hinders leg articulation quite a bit, but that's neither here nor there. Wait until you get to episode 34...because there is an epic fight involving her. Heck, any time she shows up, you can expect an epic fight. :D

So... she's a souless shell of a character with no personality? :p

The only filler arc I ever enjoyed was the Bountou arc in Bleach - not that it was good, even almost a decade later I remember how poor the animation was - but it was my first instance with a full blown filler arc. I didn't know about the horrors of filler back then so I watched it all.

What I got was a whole new story, a whole new set of villains and in my opinion a much more interesting set of powers than what we get these days, like Quincy where their powers are now just fucking anything as long as it's not the bows they started with, and were always shown using, in flashbacks.

You should definitely check out the Pharaoh's Memories arc then. It is episodes 199-224. It is a great arc, answers nearly all of our questions, adds something new to the gimmick, and gives the series a great finale.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica Episode 4: Well feeling sad about Mami for half the episode and feeling more sadness and emotions. I enjoy Homura and Madoka's interaction with each other a lot. I figured that was going to be Sayaka's wish, and she looks really awesome as a magical girl and I love her sword. Kyouko looks like a lot of fun can't wait to see more of her. I loved that Madoka had the courage to help save everyone even if she has a lot of self-doubt who feeling week at least saving others helped get past that. I'm excited to see more.
