Well, the increased ease of access to the internet changed things up. I wouldn't call it nostalgic, but fads and trends come and go a lot faster than they did in the 90's or 00's.

Things don't feel much different from 2010-2012 if you ask me. Grumpy Cat is still a thing. I still see merchandise for it at stores.

I would disagree, honestly. Looking at that image, the only thing on that list that isn't eye rolling to most people is ERB. The image very much feels like a microcosm of "Popular things online" from 2010-2013.

I grew up in NC. Literally no one called soda "coke" unless it was coke. I had one teacher in high school who'd just transferred from Michigan that called it "pop", but that's it.

And we called flip flops either "flip flops" or "Put on some proper shoes you filthy hippie."
