Could Toei bring back practical effects to 2020 season ?

They still use practical effects. Stuff like sparks are practical effects and Zyuohger used them for Zyuoh Eagle to Zyuoh Gorilla iirc

In the vein of the non-human rangers of Kyuranger such as Garu, Balance, Champ, Raptor, and Commander Dumplings, which Japanese voice actor would you like to see play a non-human ranger and which color?


I pick Tomokazu Seki who is a OG tokusatsu fan as the first non-human red ranger because... well, let's see.

We could have references and allusions to the past sentais in the 2020's season like in Boukenger ?

When I was in Japan, I went to Toei Studio Kyoto Park, and there was a Kyuranger stage show that we watched. It was TONS of fun and it made me consider watching it. Now that Ex-Aid is over, and I'm missing Japan, I'm legitimately considering watching it. So...is it worth it? I'm normally not much of a Sentai guy, simply because it's so repetitive and there's so much CGI.

If you are patient person then give Kyuranger a try if not then don't watch it. The show is a rough ride that might not be worth it unless you are ready for some shit.

In what sense? The planet-hopping elements sounds fun. I don't really care about overall plot in Sentai, as long as the individual episodes are enjoyable. For example, Ninninger might not have had any plot, but each individual MOTW episode was pretty fun imo, and the action was great, so I ended up enjoying the series.

Yup, and it would be, but they stopped doing it after episode 4. They land on Earth then and pretty much just stay there. Although there are a few occasions where they still visit other planets every now and then it's definitely not a planet-hopping show.

It's more like: "We're space heroes who want to liberate the entire universe! Oh hey, this planet called "Earth" is in trouble and the bad guys care for it for some reason, guess we stay here now.".

The premise sounds fun for sure, but they do next to nothing with it.

You should still check it out because you've got a special bond with it which could make you fall in love with the show but I personally am quite disappointed with Kyuranger. Not just because of the lack of space travel, the show as whole leaves a lot to be desired IMO.

Agh. I've heard that there were planet-hopping shenanigans, that was one of the things that first attracted me to the series. I'll probably still check it out just because of said bond. My girlfriend and two other friends that were girls all thought the purple ranger was hot (note: they never saw him out of the suit.)

Do that. The time you're investing is the only thing you lose anyway, it's not like you need to buy a stupid expensive box set or anything.

I'm actually a bit surprised the writers haven't had that idea yet - let fangirls fall in love with Ryu Commander because of the suit but people assume it's Lucky / Stinger outside of it.

Does it have one? I haven't watched Turboranger so I don't know, but at that point, motifs weren't quite as strong as they are now.

I think that's pretty much most Showa villains.

What's your favorite sixth ranger introduction? Mine would have to be GaoSilver's. The whole Rouki arc was really interesting with his humanity slowly being revealed. Then when he was human, him turning into GaoSilver to get the gems back was really cool.

Ughh that's a tough one, especially when you get into the whole "Who Actually Counts as a Sixth/Ranger" thing. Going on a pure sixth and ranger basis, I'd probably say that my favorite is Shurikenger for just how out of nowhere it sort of comes and the whole mystery/cameo plots that follow.

is turboranger any good?

It was alright last time I saw it, has its moments. Nothing exceptional like Jetman just as a heads-up. The standout points of it are that they are pretty much the Marvel's New Warriors of Super Sentai them being the first teenage team and the opening theme is one of the best from 80s sentai. It is a 1989 show so keep that in mind that it can feel dated.

People like it or hate it. I seen people felt like that Turboranger was when Super Sentai was going downhill in the 90's while others seem to love the wacky humor for it.

It is good show in my opinion. Turboranger is one of my first Tokusatsu show I ever watched along with Flashman, Liveman, and Jiban. I mostly love this show because the actions, characters, and the Rangers are teenager. In my opinion, Turboranger was same good as Gingaman.

Could we have a sea/aquatic-sentai someday we they have budget ?

Unlikely. Even ignoring the budget, there are a lot of complications that come with filming something that involves a lot of water. Safety issues probably being the biggest one.

Could the 2020 sentai be something big like Gokaiger ?

A Non-Toku example: Jaws (1975). Lot of resistance and fear with ocean filming! Saltwater is NOT freshwater, and weather is unpredictable!

Looking back I would say that the pacing has improved compared to its direct predecessor so yes go watch it.

Won't the 45th anniversary series be in 2021 since they do anniversaries by numbers? I think they should do a big anniversary for the 50th instead.

Well Ohranger and Ninninger celebrated 20th and 40th anniversary of Super Sentai, despite being the 19th and 39th seasons respectively.

Zyuohger was an opportunity to celebrate a rare milestone.

Still, we've got to get through Kamen Rider's 50th before we think about Sentai's 50th.

I hope the next anniversary season be simple.

Your thoughts on non-standard colors, specifically orange, violet, and cyan/sky blue suits. Also it is clear as of ToQger they started using a lighter lime green hue fabric for green ranger suits specifically ToQ4, Midoninger, Zyuoh Elephant, and Chameleon Green. Yay or nay?
