Sorry to hear that, I hope you find a new job soon. |
Graaaaaah! I just finished Agito!
Rant on. Damn you Hoooooooojoooooo! I can't believe he squeaked through without at least getting punched or kicked in the junk again. I've never been more appreciative of the old vintage Hollywood standard where villains always got their comeuppance. So dissatisfied with that slimy bastard just carrying on. Rant off. With the above exception, I enjoyed the series quite a bit. I haven't watched the movies yet. I'll probably get to that this weekend and, as I'm planning on watching things in order until I get bored, then move on to Ryuki. |
Kamen Rider Faiz Episode 1
So that was dark and depressing. Umm..wow. Honestly one of the stronger starts to a season I think, had me hooked from the get go. The show looks fantastic, I like its sense of style, I've always kinda dug the Faiz suit and the orphenocs look pretty badass too. And I gotta say, what a twist! The entire time I was watching I was wondering how these two stories would meet up, how Yuuji was going to end up with the belt and become Faiz. He was built up so sympathetically, that introductory sequence after the opening, with the car wreck..damn. But yeah, I was fully expecting him to end up with the belt and..he ends up being one of the bad guys, did not see that coming at all. I'm sure if I had known ahead of time who actually was the rider, like I'm sure most people did when first watching the series, either back when it first aired or now, that I probably would have had a different reaction, but I really didn't know much of anything before jumping into the show so it was a total shock to me. Not a whole lot else to say. Faiz has a pretty decent henshin sequence, I like the driver, the fight scene was pretty solid too, and I loved that first rider kick. It was just a little tap, and the orphenoc's reaction added just the right amount of humor to what was otherwise a pretty melo-dramatic and dark episode. Looking forward to seeing what the show has to offer. |

I guess they at least tried to make some context for this filming nonsense, and maybe because I'm watching it alongside Faiz, I found this super fun. There are lots of disappointments though. The whole levels thing was part of what ultimately killed Nazca, so to see Saeko achieve level three immediately was thrilling but it turns out level three just makes it...red? So much build up, for that? There seems no significant new power at all, this just feels shoehorned in here. Especially so as she basically came back into the show to show off how powerful Clay Doll Xtreme was, it was even more disappointing. Speaking of Clay Doll Xtreme, an absolutely awful suit grows into somehow an even worse one. Disgusting. |
Faiz 04 - now with more spoiler tags! Which are a real pain in the ass, to be honest with you, why don't we have a button for this?
Anyway, for a show so unrelenting brutal and dark - to the shows detriment honestly - it's amazing just how much fun this show has with its own concepts. From seeing two Orphenoch's working together to Faiz dropping into enemy hands, quite literally - I'm pretty sure I also have already had this twist spoiled for me, when I looked up Faiz toys. Only Orphenoch's can use the belt, right? to "Hurry and Change!" in reference to changing into your gym clothes, being a catalyst for a girl to transform into an Orphenoch and start a massacre to the fact that Faiz's bike is a fucking transformer!. The second half of this episode was just wonderful, it's a real shame then, that the first half is so bad. It wasn't even bad, so much as meandering. Faiz has this weird tendency to let unnecessary scenes play out, while having the most important ones clipped to the point of near meaninglessness. We really didn't need an almost ten minute scene of Takumi, Mari and dry cleaning dude sat in the park insulting one another. None of the characters know one another so we came out of this scene learning nothing, everything crucial characterwise also happens in the stronger second half of the episode. Plus the sort of back up story of Yuka and her sister falls flat, because Yuka's sister, and subsequently her parents, are such complete and utter bastards that it feels like we've fallen into cartoonworld and all the intended poignancy of the drama is lost. I'm actually not sure how I feel about the Orphenoch's any more either. I know it's only been four episodes and I was just praising them but I dunno when you see multiple Orphenoch's standing side by side, you start to realise how boring the all grey design is. |

Really, we're gonna keep padding these episodes with unnecessary sub stories that have no bearing on anything that actually matters? God this is gonna be a long climax, and not in the good way. Even Saeko flailing her sexy legs in the bathroom, and the fight with Accel that it leads into, couldn't stop this episode being as boring as it is throwaway. I can't wait til W gets this out of its system so we can get to a good wrap up. |
Agito 47-It was nice to see an episode that just focused on Shouichi and Ryou during a peaceful time with them getting jobs and focusing on more than just fighting. Intrigued with the Man of Darkness and his plan now. Only a few more episodes left. Also I'm not sure if Kino died or not but it sounds like he did, which would suck because he was a very good character who actually managed to get to his potential if he is gone.
