Out of your list, I quite like A Christmas Carol and Asylum of the Daleks (though I perfectly understand your misgivings of the latter from your review), I found Let's Kill Hitler entertaining despite some serious issues, and I thought The Bells of Saint John and The Doctor, the Widow & the Wardrobe to be a bit bland, but entertaining.

Aside from Asylum, I don't think any of these make my top favourite lists.

Which makes it all the more ironic that Tennant and Piper never once interacted in this special. :lol

Yeah, I don't think they're all godawful stories (Asylum and Doctor/Widow/Wardrobe are), but they certainly aren't on the level of "Empty Child/Doctor Dances" or "Blink".

And all the better it was for it I thought! Piper played the role excellently.

Last night the Doctor's Revisited came on with Matt Smith. Ignoring the fact it seems weird to revisit something that happened so recently, BBC America has angered me again.

They never even mentioned River Song's name! She was such a large part of his tenor, like the major part, and they never even mention her damned name? And nothing on the TARDIS exploding, nothing on Vincent and the Doctor, nothing on anything. They never even mentioned the Pandorica! It was all "Isn't Amy the best companion?" And "Bowties!" and "He's so young and cute!" ...

Agreed, for all the humour in the 'assistants get younger every day' (or whatever it was), I honestly feel that should be closer pointed at the Doctors themselves. The contrast between Three, which is what I'm rewatching, and the modern Doctors is insane. The Doctor is now a poster boy, armed with assistants who are largely utterly useless and only exist to swoon over the Doctor to drain all drama out of their relationship. Unless you're Amy, who Moffat was so obsessed with it was just ludicrous how important she became.

It was less so the events themselves although the museum curator was baffling, much like choosing the Zygons of all things for the baddies but just how hand waved they all were. The Doctor broke about a thousand different rules of time travel in this episode, all of which were claimed to have serious ramifications if done. But well...apparently not then.

This is just a problem with time travelling in general I think, there's never any set rules and it just ends up a mess unless you treat it simply on a writer by writer case. Altering a timeline has always been a confusing affair because someone could easily just turn around and say that time was never altered in the first place and that's how events have always played out, they simply don't remember it that way.

I think I'm less likely to swallow it simply because I cannot stand Moffat. I hate how overcomplicated his plots are, and I hate how he calls anyone who cant follow his plots 'stupid', not just because it offends me but because he basically insulted about 96% of the people in the audience in the same breath.

I do like that Moffat gave this a brisk pace, making it feel more about adventure than trying to out M. Night Shyamalan M. Night Shyamalan but I'm pretty sure that was an attempt to echo Doctor Who of old, rather than being the future of the direction of his episodes.

Oh I completely agree when it comes to the last two seasons of Who, which is why I especially appreciated the fact I could wrap my head around this one while tying up any loose ends it could have easily caused. It actually felt completely thought out for once.

Unlike the Ponds, who didn't give a damn about their newborn baby once they found out it was River Song.

Yeah I suppose that is true, for once I could understand the What, but this time I couldn't understand the How. Where as usually I can't understand any of the Ws.

I still don't understand River Song. I've honestly watched New Who religiously (much more so than Classic Who, which I watched casually as a child and have been slowly working my way through again as an adult), but I was either so confused/angry/bored with Moffat's run I can honestly tell you pretty much nothing about any of it.

Except that Amy may well be my most hated companion, and that I'm disappointed that Smith got such a crap tenure of episodes because he himself was so damn great as the Doctor. Although I think the latest season with Clara deserves some credit for being mostly coherent, even if it was largely mediocre.

I REALLY hope Big Finish do a spin off series with Smith where he actually gets some decent episodes.

Eh, they all had to gloss over stuff. You think that was bad, look back at all that they cut from the Tom Baker episode.
