Alata is still my favourite character in the show though, with Hyde as a close second.

Epic 19.
It was nice to get an Agri focused episode, although he has heaps more personality than Eri, he was starting to fall by the wayside with the amount of focus Hyde and Alata have been getting. Even Moune has had more focus than Agri, and sentai usually hates women. Weirdly enough most of Agri's personality has actually been conveyed by the suit actor. I dunno whether it's the director, or the actors decision, but the way the actor captures Agri is so unique and stylish, he stands out in fight scenes even when I'm not sure he's supposed to. Although this is true of all of the characters, it stands out most with Agri. The hilarious hypocrisy of the Goseiger's. How many buildings have been levelled in their battle with The Warstar? How many people can you fit in each building? I'm pretty sure their body count is much higher than Gosei Knight's. Man that is one badass kappa. I really do love the Yuuma and am so glad they give Buredoran more opportunities to get involved in the fights, even if his new form is kinda crappy. Although he is a total badass, Gosei Knight's themesong is so bad, it undermines every break out scene of his. |
Epic 20.
This is the closest thing Goseiger has had to filler, I'm just glad it took this long. The episode had some funny moments, some good action but was still pretty boring on the fact it was completely throwaway. |
Epic 21.
Great another filler episode. And this one didn't even have an interesting villain or interesting fights. It just made me go from 'meh' towards Eri to just downright disliking her. I shared Gosei Knight's frustration this episode. Seems like Goseiger has hit a slump. |

I can either save the world from being destroyed by a monster or I can bake a whiny little boy his birthday cake. Clearly the cake is the logical priority.
Goseiger is dumb. |
Oh guys, you really don't get the point of this episode, do you?
This episode marks the difference between the Goseigers and GoseiKnight. While GoseiKnight only cares about the enemy, Eri cares about every single person's happines. Besides, this episode also conveys the message Goseiger has. The Goseigers' duty is more than saving the planet. It's to give people happiness. I feel it's kinda motivating that Eri does her best in making one person smile with something only she can do. Besides, she doesn't say she doesn't care about what happens to earth. She joins the team as soon as she can- because she was sure that everyone would do their best to fight the Yuumajuu while she keeps her promise. Oh yeah and btw. disliking one episode is of course a reason to drop a whole series. Because mid-series filler episodes always determine the quality of the whole thing... *cough* |
Gokaiger!
Yeah, so I haven't really watched any sentai at all, but on a whim, I decided to check out Gokaiger. Man, I'm loving this shit. Watched episodes 1-5 so far. The Gokaigers are all pretty cool. I thought not knowing anything about Sentai would get me kinda confused over things, but everything is pretty easy to figure out. This especially wasn't a problem in episode 5, since mostly featured Dekaranger Doggie Crugger, who seems to have the same general personality as the SPD one. Also, I take it Dekaranger doens't take place in the future and they're just intergalactic space police? Can't help but think how they're going to handle this stuff when it's adapted to Super Megaforce now. Especially since according to the episode guide for Super Megaforce, they'll be adapting the episode of Jow versus the sword monster with Noah. Which....would be pretty weird. If it leads to Noah training by slashing away flying swords in the middle of a forest, then it might be kinda amazing though. Though aside form Noah and Troy, I can kinda see everyone else matching to their Sentai Counterparts in morphed form, more or less. But yeah, back to the Gokaiger's, I like 'em a lot with their primary goal being the treasure and the whole superheroing thing being something they do on the side simply to defend people who's planet they're currently docking on 'cause they're just good like that.. EDIT: Oh and I also checked out the first episode of Kyoryuger. That was weird somewhat. Interesting that the other rangers aside from red like to keep to themselves. I knew about the salsa dancing in advance so it didn't throw me off TOO much, but the ending? With dinosaurs AND the main villains dancing at the end. Whaaaaaaaaaat? |

So I watched Go-Busters 15 and 16 and saw the introduction of Jin and Beet J. Stag and they are super awesome! I absolutely love J. he is so awesome and they have awesome costumes too. Very intrigued with them. Go-Busters has been taking a while for my friends and I to get through honestly but it's because we get scatterbrained and have so much to get through.

There's an upcoming episode 2 or 3 parter with the Hurricangers and Gokaigers (aka Ninja Storm and Super Megaforce) ... but that entire thing is being skipped as they didn't invite back the actors for it. Kyoryuger is actually pretty good. I'm giving it a second chance and going through the earlier episodes now and am enjoying it quite a bit. |

I'll take your word on Kyoryuger though. I do wanna see where it goes from where the first ep left off. |

On an unrelated note, now that the semester is over and I have more free time, I'm catching up on my backlog, including the last several subbed episodes of Kakuranger. I'm two-thirds of the way through the Daradara storyline and it is really awesome. |

Eri is literally choosing one boy over millions of others. Eri abandoning the team to bake a cake tells us she places the emotions of this one boy over the life of another, which for a team of defenders, is hard to swallow for the viewer. I enjoyed Goseiger, but there is no way this episode did anything but prove that Eri is an airhead. |
I think that cake episode highlighted probably the one thing I dislike about Goseiger, the budget betrays the concepts. Goseiger puts in WAY more effort than most Sentai to make things feel big and threatening. Quite a lot of the battles have convinced me that if not the whole planet is in danger, the fight is at least larger than the space of an abandoned warehouse.
The only problem is, with budgetary tightness, the bigger the conflict the more humanity Goseiger looses. So when they try reigning in the story to bring the human aspect back in amongst all the exploding cardboard buildings, it makes the Goseigers come across as oddly selfish and bizarrely narrow minded. Another episode that springs to mind, that suffers similar issues, is that one where that electric Warstar effects the electricity of the entire city. However the focus of all these goings on, is entirely on a SINGLE surgery. If we just take into account the impact of the loss of power just in the single hospital, the death toll would be devastating. But that isn't taking into account cities have multiple hospitals, whole countries probably have hundreds, the world probably has millions and with our world centring around electricity there would be a wider impact than hospitals. And I know someone is going to tell me I'm missing the point or something, but all I'm trying to say, is I admire Goseiger attempting to address the bigger picture but due to what they have to work with, it actually works in their detriment. After three days away, I can't wait to watch more either way. |
Epic 22.
I like how they made a cool episode even though Swirl looked so shit. The CGI stuff is kinda weak on Goseiger but I think when a suit is so limiting the actor can basically only move their hands, it works better to just animate his attacks rather than having the suit pathetically waddling at the rangers at 0.01 miles per decade. I feel kind conflicted on the message though because I don't think we were supposed to side with Gosei Knight as he himself sided with the Angels by the end, but I felt he made a good points. As far as stacked Robos go, Ground Great wasn't all that bad, it was mostly tightly packed so it limited the amount of flimsy wobbling but his movement was still extremely limited so it looked a little awkward in action. |
Gokaiger 6-8
So there was a character development ep for Luka, Ahim ad Doc get trained by Gekired, and two goofball monsters discover what the Gokaigers are seeking on Earth. Found out that Luka used to live in poverty with several kids before she became a pirate, which explains her greed, when it comes to treasure. Still ice of her to help that family find the true meaning of, uh, family. So Gekired was literally raised by tigers? Well considering, his master appears to be a cat, I guess that's not all too strange. Ayway, they got the Gekirager powers ad Doc and Ahi learned to fight better hand to hand. Not much else to say on this ep...except one thing that kinda goes for all of these eps: I really like Gokaiger's monsters. Designs, personalities ad whatever. The martial artist monster especially ad how Warz Gill kept messing up his name. I sorta hope they give Warz Gill a similar personality in Super Megaforce, though give his antics that's probably one of my more likely wishes for that season. And the twin mosnters form eight were pretty funy too. Eight showed s some of the Gokaiger's background stories. Ahim's reminds me of Summer's from RPM sorta. Joe's is pretty interesting. Wonder what made him betray the Zangyack. Now they just kinda brush off Doc as a joke, but I wonder if it really is or if it's something more important. |
Just finished episode #45 of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. It was so great to see Tsuruhime (Satomi Hirose) from Kakuranger again.

After watching so many flicks over the last couple of days, I thought I'd take a break and check out Epic 23 of Goseiger.
The episode was pretty dumb, but as ever with Goseiger, even in kinda crappy filler the action is still stellar. Plus there were quite a few moments that had me laughing out loud. I loved it when the enemy moved so fast it was like the Goseigers were moving in slow motion. It's just a shame it was wasted on such a crap villain. And I will always love just how much more personality the Goseiger's seem to have when the suit actors take over. Especially Agri, I love the character but just the way he moves and acts in suit, it's just so cool. Plus woo Hyde focus, he's probably the best character after Alata. |
Finishing up Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. Will be watching the last couple of episodes today with my son.

Finally caught up with all of GUIS' Kakuranger releases. Still a really weird damn show.

Epic 24.
Although I think the bubblegum swords are pretty dumb, this was a really cool introductory episode for their super mode. Seeing all the Yuuma standing side by side it was like we'd hit the finale of the entire show, and it just kept going! Buredoran was pretty badass this episode as well, which is nice, as he hasn't been nearly as interesting during this portion as he was during the Warstar portion. |

Epic 25.
This was a pretty great episode, Makuin lived up to his villain status with a downright nasty plan and monster to take out the Super Modes while showing fighting ability that you didn't think possible from his suit design. Really my only disappointment is Gosei Knight, I thought it was only early sixths which weren't integrated into the core team properly but here is Gosei Knight who only seems to step into episodes to either dump exposition or sell toys. It's a shame because when he was introduced he seemed so cool, now the Super Goseigers appear to be leaving him behind. Oh crap foreshadowing! I already have the twist ruined for me, but I guess their plan for Buredoran was in place all along. |
Started watching MagiRanger today with my brother, well continuing after episode 1 and watched 2-7 and absolutely love it so far! I love all the Rangers, I think Tsubasa is one of my favs, and Houka is one of my favorite pinks ever so far. I love all the cast of it, and the villains are interesting. Can't wait for more of this probably going to watch more.

I think they put him in to keep the 6th Ranger tradition (though I've always seen him as an extra hero, like Zuban from Boukenger, for example. Whom I liked even less than GoseiKnight xD). |
Wow you can see we're complete opposites as I see ShinkenGold akin to a cancer, the catalyst for Shinkenger's mid season slump and easily the worst character in the whole of sentai history. I'd happily take a team made entirely of bland, personalityless pinks than another ShinkenGold.

Since I plan to get myself up in the morning, so I can be refreshed and ready for a busy work week, I decided to watch a couple of episodes of Goseiger before bed, rather than attempting to start another movie.
So here we go, Epic 26, officially I've gone past the mid way point now. I honestly think Goseiger has gone downhill a fair amount. The opening Warstar Arc was INCREDIBLE it had epic battles, just the right amounts of tension and comedy, the characterisation was strong, with focused character arcs and not a moment of filler. The Yuuma arc on the other hand basically feels entirely like a filler arc, like what they do in an anime that has almost caught up to the manga. I know a lot of new stuff has been introduced in the Yuuma arc but not a lot of it is stuff I particularly like. Gosei Knight was interesting to begin with, but then the show doesn't really seem to like him, leaving me to wonder why they invented him at all if they aren't going to actually bother including him in the show. And although I like how big and flashy the Super Modes are, they take all of the Angels personal identities away and that was what made the action scenes so enjoyable. This episode itself included an asinine plot about some gourd that can suck laughing people into it or some shit with a monster who has "tickling wind". Episodes with plots like this are the reason I dropped Kyoryuger. I especially hated it when Alata laughed at fart jokes, come on man! I guess it doesn't help that this is apparently built around some weird Japanese humour that I've never heard of. I didn't understand the jokes at the beginning and Alata's costume gags were baffling. Plus the action was surprisingly...weird...why was it that when Tengu used his power, it was just the same piece of prerecorded footage looped over and over? It looked terrible. |
... All these Goseiger sigs. .. OOO!
