I really want George Washington to show up in the Maxter Gundam now. :lol |
Going to warn you people: the first half of the show is kind of a grind because it tries to be a period drama/stage performance and the pacing can be a bit off.
But stick with it, at least until the new intro kicks in because that's when they finally start going somewhere with the series. |

That'd be awesome, and makes me wonder how Nobunaga would work on SRW. Quote:

One other thing I should bring up that I think is awesome touch: they got Magellan as a starship captain. |

I added Nobunaga the Fool to my plan-to-watch list because of a friend's recommendation, but until now I had no idea what it was either! :lol
That list just keeps growing and growing and I don't know what to see next. |

It was a small mention sadly. |

Well, still. |
Watched the first three episodes of Nobunaga the Fool and really liked what I saw. The Mecha in this show look really damn cool. The world itself is also pretty cool even though I´m kinda confused how exactly both planets work :lol

Build Fighters 08. Holy shit is that a Gurren Lagann Gundam? SHIT JUST GOT REAL.
This episode actually added an interesting dynamic to the action, which I hope the show uses more in the future. I know they aren't pilots in a traditional sense, but as the complicated mecha controls are gone in Gunpla battles that only means the fighters can project more of themselves through their Gundam. I really liked how Nils was able to utilise his martial arts upbringing in his fighting. I know that might seem sorta obvious, but I can't think of another mecha anime where the pilot utilised his own life skills directly in his fighting style. |

This might sound kinda...dumb? But err... if you don't know much about history beyond like the most basic of stuff, will that impact your enjoyment of Nobunaga The Fool?
|
Not at all since it doesnt play with history at least at the point where I am. The characters just have the names of the historical figures. If you know about history its fun to see how the characters were changed but its not a requirement to understand and follow the story :)

I think the strength of the show comes from the characters though and how well the dialogue is written. They share the names of the historical figures but that's about it. |
Alright sweet, might give the first episode a go.

08th MS team episodes 7 and 8
Episode 7 was pretty good. Shiro and Aina get to bond a lot more, and I definitely see the romance spark there. But now one of the RX-79s are gone. I liked how both of them really showed that they don't want to fight this war. But they had to throw a bath scene somewhere in this show, so why not in the middle of a freezing canyon. Because every anime has to have a bath scene. When they used a beam saber to melt the snow and turn it into warm water, that shit was so dumb. And the worst part is that you never get to see Aina's tits. She's butt naked and everything in this scene and there's been nudity before, but nope, the steam has to cover her up. Seriously Sunrise, you show an underage girl's boobs in one of the earlier episodes, but when a real women gets naked, you have to cover her up? That's not even talking about how awkward nudity in any Gundam series is. Episode 8 was a gamechanger, Kiki's village got destroyed by these Zeon assholes and Shiro was put under some sort of restrictive order that gets thrown out about 2 minutes through the episode. It not only showed Shiro's development but also his peace message that every Gundam has. But this one actually makes sense, he wants everyone to stop fighting, but still will kill if he has to yet feels sorry for that person. Plus, it was great to see the team dynamic again. |
Episode 23 od Doki Doki Precure.
Mana is badass whenever she is fueled up with friendship power. 'nuff said. |

Wow the first episode of Nobunaga really chucks you in the deep end, if you don't pay attention at all times, it's nauseating the way this jumps from genre, to time period to tone sometimes multiple times in the same sequence. It's got warped history, high fantasy AND high sci-fi and lots of Sengoku Basara.
It all kinda makes sense, in its own gloriously silly context, but nonetheless the editor of this seriously needs firing because it's how choppy and slapped together sequences feel that make this seem so incoherent, not the balls to the wall storytelling. Right, I'm exhausted after that, time for bed. |

8th MS team episodes 9-12
Episode 9 was a pretty good episode for the beginning of the end. I like how Shiro finally has a resolve about killing people. Episode 10 was pretty badass, the first half mainly being set up for character motivations for actions in the next episode and the second half having some epic fights between the RX-79s and that Blue Zaku. I love how even though the 8th team defeated the Zaku, the Zeon technically won from Shiro's perspective, as they destroyed all of the Guntanks. Episode 11 was a pretty good finale. I like the scale of the damage the new Obsolis can do and its a huge threat. Although I felt like it played the fake out card way too much. It was also annoying how there was a lot of crossing on both sides. Granted, that's more like real war, but I felt like it got stupid when they still had the sniper trying to shoot down Shiro when he was trying to stop the Obsolis. He's doing your job for you, so why are you shooting at him instead of at the machine with the giant death beam? The new Obsolis reminds me of the more alien looking war of the worlds spaceships rather then. Episode 12. Well that was a fucking waste of time. Its basically an episode where Kiki and Michel try to find Shiro and run into these random Zeon kids. As an episode of Gundam, it didn't even feature that much mobile suit fights. As a "reunion" episode of 8th MS team, it failed horribly, as not all of the characters are shown post-One year war. Even characters we do see like Kiki and Michel have their character so removed from the episode, that it really didn't matter that it was specifically them. As an anime episode it was dull, the kids weren't even that intriguing. Do not watch this episode, just watch episode 11 as your finale. Overall, I like the 8th MS team. I don't think its my favorite Gundam thing ever like a lot of people say, but I do enjoy it. If you're going in for the mobile suit fights, then you're looking at the wrong series. While the mobile suit battles are well animated and directed, it takes up so little time in each episode and feels unsatisfying sometimes. |
Tried to watch Hero Bank which is the other Toku-Esque anime show this season and I just could not get into it.
The show is about these kids that play an online game where they get paid x amount of money from an audience that watches via the internet. The plot already sounds like a rip from Tiger and Bunny and not only that but the designs for the characters and the game avatars just feel so…random and uninspired. It's your typical Medabotsy type show…and I just don't know why I couldn't get into it like I could others that weren't meant for me so…I dunno... |
So ready for Attack on Titan tonight.

Build Fighters 09. Beargguy is my kinda Gundam.
For a show with insane action, beautiful art direction and tight grasps of its own concepts it's amazing just how largely uninteresting most of the characters are in this show. Every character has so far been defined by largely one thing and then the show has moved on. And speaking personally for me, great characters can make up for a lacklustre story but the same can't be said the other way round. |

So the dub of attack on titian out so giving it a try. If I'm board from it after 5 episode I'll be sticking with the manga
|
Attack on Titan is paced worse than Dragonball Z. Yeah, soak that in.
