Nah, Spectacular was well written, had great characterizations and development, it built up several of the villains before fully introducing them, and it pulled nearly all of its material from the Lee/Ditko/Romita era. Obviously Venom being the exception.
I think the problem is that the show was prematurely canceled, so it was never able to truly reach its potential as they had planned the whole show out over the course of 65 episodes (which was going to be Peter's graduation). They were even planning to do direct to video episodes of Peter in college afterwards. Season 3 was going to introduce Hobgoblin, Carnage, have the Tinker get his own episode, and I believe bring in Kingpin. I do agree with Matrix though about the direct to video movies being mediocre. Other than Dr Strange, Hulk vs Wolverine, and the first Avengers one, I can't say I was really blown away with them. |
I'll tell you what though, Spectacular had a great theme song

I always loved the artstyle in that show

I'll admit that Ultimate Spiderman is a bit of a guilty pleasure show for me. It's the perfect show to watch if all you need is background noise or to kill 30 minutes. |
I'm slowly making my way through Ultimate. I actually dug the first season but then the show just kept going and repeating the same tropes over and over again. Last episode I watched was the Spider-Verse 4 parter.
Oh, I really loved Ultimate's theme music for Green Goblin. The chorus was terrific. |

Spectacular is great if only for giving us Josh Keatons' Spider-Memes.

Now THAT is some fine boxart! Oh, and there's another Mahvel gameplay trailer showing Zero returning and stuff. PS4 Spidey's an Arkham clone, which I honestly don't like. Sure, the Arkham games were great, but Spidey should have something more different imo |
What would you want though? I think it being like an Arkham clone is the only way they would have been able to do the game. It's not like the Arkham games weren't cones of other games either.
|
Spider-Man is def an Arkham clone. With the swinging around in the city, the combat, and the stealth. I'll admit Arkham games took a page from Assassin's Creed, but unlike Spider-Man it wasn't a complete copy.

Stealth kills like Arkham Combat looks similar and has counters similar to Arkham Webswinging looked a lot like ziplining in Arkham OH WAIT SILLY ME THE QTES MAKE IT DIFFERENT! I care because Spiderman's a lot more different from Batman and because I expected better from a studio that made Spyro and Ratchet and Clank |
Like I said, I just want a good game, that is all.

Activision's 2004 Spider-Man 2 game had a combat mechanic that could easily have been a predecessor to the Arkham system. So it's not like there has never been a Spider-Man game that played that way and, although Rocksteady generally polished it and made it famous, it was a combat system that existed (in some form) before the Arkham titles.

I guess what I'm trying to figure out is in what aspect do you think Spider-Man and Batman are completely different. Both will do stealth. Both will beat up their foes or chase after them. The only true difference is one makes constant quips while the other plays it silent.

Okay, but isn't that up to the individual playing the game? I mean, would you rather the game have QTEs making Spidey flip to the other side?
As for space, being that I am currently reading the entire Stan Lee run of Spider-Man, he doesn't have a spacial preference. He'll take enemies out regardless. Either way, I guess I can see your reasoning. We'll just have to wait and see what the game brings us in the final product. |

In all seriousness, nobody expects anything good to come out of it, so nobody's talking about it. What I'm surprised with however, is that people aren't mentioning Gwenom getting revealed a few days ago |

I actually watched the trailer, it's hilarious!
They used that punch sound effect, you know, THAT one The one youtubers use to punch something off of the screen They also hype the everloving **** out of the cameras used for filming. That's a baaaad sign And they restrain Medusa by holding down her arms. As someone who knows next to nothing about the Inhumans, I'm laughing as Medusa has hair powers and the Inhumans society should know this fact. |
Good god, put Blackbolt's mask on so I don't have to look at that ugly face.
That actor is terrible. If you are going to adapt a character who can't talk, you need to get someone who can actually act with his body language. That guy is clearly not that type of actor. He looks like he needs to take a dump but his suit won't let him. Oh, and the CGI is horrible, especially on Lockjaw. It looks like they just blew up a regular dog but didn't fix the pixels. |
"I think they're gonna retcon Medusa's hair powers"
"Did Scott Buck just hit himself with the hold my beer joke?" "What the Buck?" "Triton looks like Dragonball Piccolo" "Scott Buck needs to be stopped" "All the budget went to the cameras" "Actually, Smallville was good in hindsight" "This trailer has made me regret my words and deeds against Thor: The Dark World" Good lord am I loving this backlash Edit: NOOOOO KAMALA'S AN INHUMAN SHE'LL BE FUCKED OVER HERE |
