Diend isn't the most unlikable Rider.
He just made a dumb movie (Super Hero Taisen) even dumber.

That and he's an asshole who knows everything but tells nothing, so it leaves audiences having to assume that his motives aren't completely nonexistent.

I hate hate HATE characters who know stuff without telling. The only reason Yuuto gets a free pass is because he actually had legitimate reasons in the end.

In other news, I found Black on Youtube and am watching the first episode. Can I just say this music is catchy?

Yeah. Diend's reason is never revealed, and he doesn't even tell the secrets he knew that the series was leading up to. It really got annoying every time he'd reference something that literally only he understood.

All Riders vs. DaiShocker was supposed to be the first Kamen Rider anything that I watched. I disliked it so much I couldn't get past the first 20 minutes. You've been warned.

You know what, Super Hero Taisen is awesome. It's not perfect, but I mean come on, all Riders and Super Sentai in a single shot? How can I not find that awesome! As for Kaito, he's okay. In my opinion he was one of the best parts of the movie. Did kind of find his turn at the end kind of odd though

I must be the only one who thinks Rod form is one of Den-O's better, if not best looking forms.

Yeah, me too. Wing, Rod and Axe, to me, are the most attractive.

Wing and Axe are my definite favorites. Rod looks nice, and I can understand why others see the appeal in it, but it's just not for me.

I like Sword Form just fine. I love Momo!

Don't get me wrong. I love Momo.
But the design just isn't my thing.

I think it's just too plain. Sword that is. I like it fine, I like seeing it in action, but it's not a design I drool over.

I can't pin down what about Rod form I like, but I think it's the DenKamen and the shoulder pieces showing more of the colour. Plus it creates a really different shape than normal. And the DenKamen doesn't have the eys be the primary colour, instead surrounding the big compound eyes with blue. It looks more cohesive than, say, Gun form with it's very minimal purple and just kinda dumb torso piece.

You know, I haven't actually watched any Toku out of the obvious like Garo, SS and KR - I might look into Tomica Hero and try a wider net.

Also I am gonna keep going with Kiva, but if it continues to be this dull and plodding I'm gonna have to give up.

And that really isn't true, but most of my favourite Toku just doesn't get talked about on here and I've yet to be given a recommendation on here that I've truly enjoyed. And the new Toku doesn't do it for me either.

All you need to go is to the American Toku watching thread to see me gushing over Jungle Fury.

All I seem to see is your posts on how no Toku has been to your liking, neither Sentai, KR, or PR. The only two I've seen you say you liked were Time Force and Jungle Fury.

But some would say Kiva gets a lot better later on, but I say it gets more boring when Otoya settles down.

I'm just a person who is happy to admit the flaws in the things they enjoy, a surprisingly rare thing on the internet. Like Shinkenger is my favourite sentai but I admit that it completely falls apart in the middle and barely redeems itself by the end.

And no one talks about Dragon Knight on here - the only KR I have enjoyed and that makes me sad.

Either way, I think I enjoyed Wizard most out of the three I've been recommended, so I'm gonna check out more episodes of that. I just hope I can get used to that obnoxious Driver screaming and singing over all the dialogue.

Wellll that could have something to do with the fact that Dragon Knight was awful and a far cry from how awesome the source material, Ryuki, is.

And knowing how Locke tried out shows, he'd likely watch episode one of Ryuki and say it wasn't good and drop it.

From what I read, the Japanese adored it and got all the Ryuki actors back to dub it, you just seem to have a real hatred for adaptations.

I only did that as a comparative piece but it is true that the Dragon Knight characters and stories have such a warm place in my heart, I don't think I would like Ryuki, even if Dragon Knight from reading interviews and so on is a completely unique show.

They always get the Japanese actors to dub the re-importations. Dragon Knight, Mystic Force, SPD, Samurai. Toei always gets the actors from the original version of the show to dub over the re-imported version. It's not because it's wildly popular. They just do it. They turn out to be pretty good bu re-adaptations like that rarely if ever enjoy the same kind of ratings the original show did in the same market.

And yes, in general I don't care for adaptations. I always tend to like the original version of something. And after years of being blind to Power Rangers being an adaptation when I was a kid, I grew up and found out just how poor it is in comparison to it's source.

Similarly Dragon Knight had flat boring characters, tried to work in footage from 3 different versions of Ryuki continuity (2 movies and the show) using riders who didn't all exist in the same continuity at the same time, tried to fake out character deaths (Advent Void? Really?) and didn't really have an ending so much as it just finished.

I feel like I have legitimate reasons to dislike it other than my adaptation bias :o

Oh from what I've read around it looked like the Japanese really liked Dragon Knight, as they have a lot of Power Rangers adaptations. It normally seems the elitists like the adaptations less than the original makers of the shows do.

Your opinion bro, but that ain't a fact, you may have found it poor but I've gone back and rewatched the Japanese versions of some of my favourite Power Rangers shows and I haven't liked them better.

I liked the Dragon Knight characters and ending and I think that given the heavy American censorship they still managed to make a mature show, that got around a lot of censorship just by calling things by different names.

Plus the continuity of a different show means very little to the continuity of the other, from what I've read Ryuki and Dragon Knight have very few similarities, I just think you're elitist.

The problem with the issues with continuity is that Ryuki has 3. And some characters (Like Camo, Siren, and Onyx) are movie only characters in Ryuki.

You say Japanese version as though it's not the original. That's being elitist bro. I'm talking about disliking the adaptation of something I hold dear. Like how people don't always like the movie adaptation of their favorite book, it pisses them off to see how poorly it was handled. For me it's US toku adaptations because they don't ever hold a candle to their source. And I prefer to say that I have taste :p
Exactly my problem. Ryuga (Onyx) and Femme (Siren) only appeared in one Ryuki movie so working them in with what little footage existed was silly. Verde (Camo) is only in the 13 Riders TV Special, and that is incredibly brief. Again there's almost no footage there to work with. They only appeared in those films and had nothing to do with the footage or plot of the normal Ryuki TV series. So bringing the series over as Dragon Knight and trying to work all of these briefly used characters into a shared plot that originally wasn't there made that show a total train wreck.

Got up to episode 19 of Den-O. Still fun so far. I figured from his first appearance that Ryuutaros would be my least favorite of the good Imagin, but everytime time he does that stupid group dance routine is funny as hell.

Second Kamen Rider seems cool so far. I like that Deneb has his own brand of candy for some reason.

Kuuga was in there, but since the AU Rider idea seems to have been quietly dropped, I doubt Toei really wanted to reopen that can of worms. With Natsumi they probably couldn't get the actress. If they had, she likely would've filled Hina's role.
