Obviously I can't comment on this character because lol Gosieger, but I don't think Locke is trying to invoke Godwin's Law here. If he feels that Hitler was an inspiration for this dude's personality or behavior and wants to mention that as part of his analysis of the show then he should be free to make that point. |
Also, how is referencing Nazi's a problem? Nazis haven't been politically relevant in ages, and when a show or movie makes a reference to an oppressive force, it's almost universally a shout out to Nazis.
If it were North Korea Locke was talking about, then it'd be understandable, but Nazis are pretty much the common inspiration for any oppressive force or army, and they're not exactly a touchy subject... |

Politics are against the rules. Nazis aren't politically relevant. Or should beer be banned from discussion because it's political, too? |

I don't think Locke was referring to Hitler politically. I think he was just using him as a historical example of a person who may have influenced a character on Goseiger. I don't think there's any real difference here from saying that a character was influenced by George Washington, Tokugawa Ieyasu, Alexander the Great, or any other historical figure.

Shocker clearly and blatantly draws influence from Nazism, and the Shocker troopers use the Nazi salute all the time. You can't silence a discussion about Nazism when Kamen Rider, one of the primary reasons for this site's existence, makes almost annual use of Nazi themes for their recent crossovers. At what point is the discussion of themes and influences (Of a faction that hasn't been politically relevant in decades, I must note again), become too close to actual political discussion? I'm pushing this because "Move on" is not a proper answer for this kind of subject. You want the discussion to end? You want the discussion to not come up again? Then you need to be the one to draw the line in the sand for what's too much and what's acceptable. |
So...
Who's seen Gingaman? Seriously, can we stop talking about the Nazis and talk instead about magic forest people fighting space pirates? |

Thanks so much for everyone who stuck up for me, I agree it's all a little silly, but I can see where Sentai is coming from. From now on I'll simply keep it vaguer and more general to avoid the can of worms that is political discussion and what counts as offensive.
ANYWAY. Is Gingaman subbed? That plot summary sounds amazing and I need a new sentai show. |

EDIT: Just to episode 35 it looks like. |

Yeah I just looked on Nyaa, it's been a year since episode 35 has been upped so I don't have much hope in the group finishing it. And I'd hate to start a show and then have the second half be missing.

Oh what, you're enjoying this show? Well too bad, we've just cancelled it with ten complete episodes never going to air! Suck that on all the extra DVD sales we're gonna make off of this ploy. |

Watching Akibaranger for the first time, up to episode three. I'm liking it, I don't love it nearly as much as I do Kyoryuger but the pop culture parody is very satisfying. I also love the fact that we have characters with suits designed to look half naked but because they are body suits they are actually fully clothed, it both is and is not a cliché whilst also being a parody *twitches*.

Epic 44.
Metal Alice the martyr?! Wow that was surprisingly brutal. I know I go on about the "golden age" of Goseiger with Warstar, but I've gotta admit most of the stuff involving the Matorintis has been really, really good. I think you'd have a great experience if you watched The Warstar portion, watched the introductory episodes for Matorintis then skip to the final stretch where I am now. Robogog rivals Dereputa for the best villain in the whole show, he only doesn't come out on top because everything about him seems so rushed. Despite this section feeling way more important than the largely throwaway Yuuma section, the Matorintis section still manages to feel somehow tacked on. Buredo Run's betrayal was seriously epicly realised as well, I really grew to appreciate his robot form. I actually think I might like it the most out of all of them. |

It's an unfortunate reality of fansubbing; this is just a hobby for the people who do it and if they get bored or too busy it's a pretty easy hobby to drop. I'll always remember the story of SCS, one of the groups that had taken on Kuuga back before it was fully subbed. They got thirteen episodes done and then decided to take a break over the holidays. During that period their main translator started playing a lot of video games and never came back. There's also the guy that was translating Stronger for MCS; he just completely vanished off the face of the internet about halfway through translating the series. Of course, on the other hand you have guys like PAL who does Century Kings. It took him years to fully sub Black, but he pulled it off in the end, even when it took him eight months to find the time to squeeze in a single episode. |
