I wish we at Tokunation had a skilled fansubbers team. :(

Oh and what is this I'm working on? http://s27.postimg.org/yyjnjbboz/fansub.jpg |
Epic 45.
It was basically a glorified clipshow so I found myself fast forwarding through a lot of it, at least we finally got to see Burajira's true form although that wasn't really all that impressive. Does make me wonder though why they had Vrak transform into the Yuuma form on the Warstar ship in Megaforce as that scene wasn't from the sentai and served no purpose in Megaforce either. |

Incompetent writing. |

In all seriousness though, I suppose just to show that he could flick between two forms since he wasn't going back and forth between them in Goseiger. Quote:

It really feels like Goseiger is just making it up as they go along now and so although the action is impressive and fun, I have no emotional investment at all. Although what was the movie shown in the credits? It looks great. And are there any other Goseiger movie stuffs worth checking? |
Epic 47.
Hyde was fucking badass in this episode, and they could have done this in a really heavy handed way, so I was grateful to see the show tread so lightly. He wasn't the only one either, considering they just painted his visor black, Gosei Knight is pretty badass as a villain. And so we finally have an explanation for the Tensouder...sort of. A bit late though. |

It wasn't explicitly explained, but does EVERYTHING need to be? Kids can probably work out that form with claws = better for fighting. |

In Goseiger, the logic behind his form changes was clear -- he was manipulating the various new villain groups, and synthesizing their strengths into his own being. To me, the only reason to keep Vrak's original form around is so kids don't get confused when they tune in and see he looks vaguely different. Which reads to me as yet another instance of Saban treating kids like idiots. |
That for me is the crucial failing of Megaforce as a show. Hate Samurai as much as you like, but because it stuck so close to Shinkenger, most of what made Shinkenger great was still there in Samurai just in a weaker, watered down form.
Megaforce did exactly what Samurai did to Shinkenger, then just bizarrely took out every single plot detail. So they followed the vague outline of the episodes they take the footage from, then remove all context until it's meaningless. Megaforce was literally about nothing. |

Megaforce has its flaws, but I honestly don't feel the handling of Vrak's forms was one of them. |
Finished Go-Onger for the 7th time and watching Go-Busters for 5,th time.

Wow, it's been a LONG time since we've had an episode this incredible. Whoever says Alata is a bad Red is a fucking liar, he was just AMAZING in this episode. His fight with Gosei Knight was beyond epic, and his final declaration and the ultimate resolution of the battle reminded me why I love this show so goddamn much. It would have been perfect if it wasn't for Eri's singing and the boring Gosei Ultimate fight they used to pad the episode. |

My feeling about Goseiger is that they went into the series with some really good world building & character ideas (I.E., the Burajira twist, a cool mythology, an interesting dynamic with the paired-off duos on the team) and a badass ending. But they didn't have much of a story planned to get us to that ending. So they had to improvise the middle of the series, to varying degrees of success. Ultimately, that leaves the show feeling very uneven, even if it's really enjoyable for the most part. And yes. Everyone is wrong about Alata. He is a badass, and the fact that he doesn't look badass makes him even cooler. You don't want to get me started on why I think everyone hates him. |
I still think the opening Warstar section was the best, it had strong character focus, great world building, epic villains, incredible fights and barely a lick of filler.
I do agree though that the Yuuma section sucked, despite the Yuuma section basically introducing everything that matters in the show, it was drowned in filler and even when it isn't, it was just kinda boring. I hated the Super Modes and as cool as Gosei Knight was, he was just wasted. |
Epic 49.
This episode was like an opera, in the best possible way. It was so dramatic and grandiose. Whether it was Burajira facing down the residual grudges of those he betrayed, the epicness of Nega End or seeing the Goseigers get utterly curbstomped and willing to risk their lives, it was just so awesome. |
Goseiger - Final episode, final thoughts.
This episode felt...rushed. Burajira's ultimate take down was curiously limp wristed but OH GOD THOSE FEELS. Overall Goseiger was...a step in the right direction. The opening Warstar arc is some of my most favourite sentai stuff I've ever seen. The villains were badarse, the action was epic, the filler was rare and each member of the team felt near enough as well developed as one another. But I never felt it got better than this, despite being only the first quarter of the show. Although a lot of important things happened during the Yuuma portion, most of it was drowned in filler with uninteresting villains and constant retreads of stories the show had already done better. Not to mention the fact that the once balanced character development basically imploded at this point and about the only characters who ever got any focus by this point, and basically throughout, was Alata and Hyde with a bit for Agri sprinkled in once in a blue moon. And why'd they add Gosei Knight if they had no plans to use him? I've got no idea. Plus the Yuuma introduced the Super Modes which I really hated. The designs were okay...I guess. But I didn't like how everyone got the same weapon and basically fought the same. For a team with such strong individual personalities, with a much less rigid hierarchy, it was so disappointing to watch them all blur into one another and for the show to basically skip to this form with their far more interesting base forms only being used on rare occasions. Matrintis was definitely a big step up from the Yuuma with the likes of Metal Alice and the Killer Samurai Dictator being some of the coolest villains in the show since Derupta. It also had Buredoran be awesome for the first time since the Indevader crashed. But the problem with this section is the show had wasted so much time on the boring slog that was Yuuma that these guys had barely any screentime despite being the far more interesting villains. Then came the final arc, which I felt, personally, kinda sucked. Burajira's Gosei form was pretty ugly, the shows attempt to make him into an Aizen was pretty weak and most of the action was fairly uninteresting bar for the stuff involving Dark GoseiKnight but I cared so little for him as a character I could only appreciate his battles as an evil machine so much. Perhaps the worst aspect that of Goseiger is the mecha stuff. Stacking is the cancer of sentai, but in many ways the gratuitous nature of the Headders is actually worse. Gosei Great as far as mech designs go, was pretty great and some of the Headders it unlocked were pretty cool but how many forms did this thing have, like twenty? And then it was full on replaced by the complete borefest that was Gosei Ultimate. Half of the mech combinations were used less than twice, and pretty much 98% of them had no real purpose or context and was just a shameless toy ad with barely any effort put into making the combinations look good or the battles entertaining. I actually really liked Datas Hyper as well but he was used about as well as Gosei Knight was. The highlight for me in the entire show was Alata, who is my new favourite character in tokusatsu. He was consistently brilliant from the very start of the show, until the very end. Like the wind he represented, he could switch instantly from gentle to fierce. He was loving, kind, heroic and would battle for his friends to his very last, very badass breath. He is one of the rare reds I feel really deserves to wear the colour, he is one of the even rarer heroes to be just as badass out of suit and I just adore him. But most importantly he's awesome because HE is awesome, he is never awesome simply because he's in red. A close second was the Henshin Hero stuff. Yeah some of the more computer generated effects were a little cack, but I dunno the fight scenes in this show were just something else. Incredible use of powers to make it feel genuinely like a superhero show, ridiculously stylish cinematography, choreography and editing to make every fight fresh and unique looking and incredible use of actors out of the suits. It was just wonderful. |

Samurai Sentai Shinkenger Ep 06 Kotoha >_< You just want to give her a hug and never let go. But she got stronger this episode, and Chaiki proved he isn't just a punk. It was an amazing early episode. And handled so much better than Samurai. With how Kotoha dealt with the MotW and how deeper the story was. How they turned this Beauty into Samurai I'll never understand. And another wonderful Gattai battle! Short though, but the episode was excellent so I forgive. (I love Gattai battles) I can't thank you guys enough for convincing me to watch Shinkenger. |
Gokaiger 18
So Gai is an official member now. Interesting how he gets his morpher from the spirits of dead sixth rangers, though. Kinda weird, but eh, works for me! And the great powers of Timeranger, Zyuranger, and Abaranger are all a part of Gozyujin? I can see what everyone was talking about before, when they were wondering why the US version is gonna be called the Q-Rex Megazord when it really does resemble a MMPR/Zyuranger zord more. Gokaiger 19 Man, Gai really does have a shitload of powers doesn't he. I wonder if he can fuse any rangers keys between 2 and 15? I sort of love ad hate the look of gold Mode. Like, it's kinda cool but..weird to look at at the same time. Other than that pretty funny ep. The monster was kinda creepy. It's powers were described as creepy, but it really seemed to fish out people's metaphorical bones rather than their literal ones. The ending was funny, but...it did sorta make sense for the Zangyack to place Gai's bounty that high. He can kinda wreck their shit with all his powers. Oh and I almost forgot, I really liked the beginning where they showed how the rangers can instantly summon the ranger keys form the chest. Nice of 'em to explain that when it was shown that Gai couldn't before. |
Samurai Sentai Shinkenger Ep 07
Ryuu's time to shine! And this was another excellent episode. Ryuu's reason for fighting, the Shinkenger's determination to fight despite being poisoned. And the secret behind the Fisherman which I won't ruin. And the monster was beautifully weird, I loved him. But the best part was the first hint of Juuzo. I don't remember Deker showing up this early in Samurai though, did he? Either way I can't wait. Just slightly disappointed he didn't say "My Sword Uramasa" :lol |
Samurai Sentai Shinkenger Ep 08
Dayu seems like such a bigger threat in this than she ever did in Samurai, and Juuzuo's appearance was perfect. His voice is epic. The epside otherwise was the same as it was for me Samurai. It introduced Juuzou but otherwise it was whatever :lol |
Gokaiger 20
Oh hey, Basco's back! And he's still got ranger keys! I suspect the Gokaigers interactions with past Sentai members will be different with Gai on their side. Interesting to see Gai's fanboyism work against him when Black Knight asks for his morpher. Though I wonder if the whole thing is actually a test of character or if Black Knight really does just want the power to defend earth again. And Basco can just draw great powers to him with his trumpet? Huh. And Marvelous' words of sticking to his dreams snap Gai out of it and he decides to just push Black Knight out of the way, while he wounded to get the morpher back. And I was right! It was a test of character. A test of resolve, more specifically. Oh wow another movie's being advertised. A purely Gokaiger one where they meet...uh, awful cgi Casper ghosts? Alright...That Ghost Ship looks pretty awesome though. Gokaiger 21 Basco also actively looking for the great powers is starting to get Marvelous a little stressed out it seems. Ad here's Boukenred. He seems to be a treasurehunter a expected and it's cool how he just casually autographed Gai's notebook. From what little I know of the Boukenger's it seems like they'd get along with the Gokaigers, being treasure hunters and all. Wait, isn't Boukenger also an anniversary series? What is it with those and treasure hunting? Marvelous, it seems, is still dead set on getting those great powers instead of going on a treasure hunt, until Boukenred pressures him with the 'oh so I guess you guys can't do it' trick. Even then, he still seems reluctant. Luka's raring to get some treasure though. the best part about the rest of the Gokaiger's lack of Sentai knowledge comapred to Gai's is when they completely misunderstand what keys he asks them to use. Ah and Boukenred's warnings about rushing ahead are giving Marvelous flashbacks to his time with Akared. The Sugormin walking out of the cave with the sword in his back reminded me of the third Indiana Jones somewhat. OH! the thing Boukenred was looking for was used to revive that fire villain from Overdrive/Boukenger! This is the first time an old villain has been used in the show, I think. Ah, and boukenred's pep talk has restored Marvelous' sense of adventure, finally. Woah, fire guy blocked the Final Wave. Guess he's a little too near 'final villain' territory for things to be that easy. And Marvelous takes his pirates take whatever they want 'with their hands' speech too literally in this case with the revival heart thing. And the Boukenger's great power is summoning their mech to fight and leaving it's sword for the Gokaigers to pick up. Which is fine but...what's Gingaman's great power? I don't remember it being shown... And Boukenger knows Akared? Interesting... |
Guess what I just watched?
Hikounin Sentai Akibaranger S1Ep1 Yes, Sentai finally watched all of an episode of Akibaranger. And I loved it... What has happened to my life?! To the point I actually felt bad with Cheif Clerk Aphid didn't grow and they couldn't call on a big Gattai like they wanted. >_< I sense the horror of a thousand I told you so's on the horizon! MY BODY IS READY! (Also Malshina is awesome, and so is Mitsuki.. and Akagi.. And Yume...) It has me bad >_< |

Gokaiger 23
Ugh, I wrote a shitload on this, but my computer fucked it up. Ah well, here's an abridged version... This episode, the Gokaigers go through every sitcom plot in an effort to help people! More importantly, Luka's backstory is explored a bit on how she failed to rescue one of her siblings on her planet and how that sorta factored into how she treats Ahim. Only Ahim doesn't want to be treated as the younger sibling and wants Luka to know she can handle herself, which is nice. And hellooo GoPink! Also, Basco's back! And he's brought some borrowed Sugormin and the ranger keys of Rio, Mele, and...Sentinel Knight's counterpart? Huh, I guess he does sorta count as an extra hero.geeze, Marvelous, you think a fire attack would really work on a fire monster? Well at least he admitted his mistake. Now GoGoV's great power is..a bunch of water hoses and an sword attack. That's not particularly weak, especially coming from a giant robot, but it doesn't look too impressive, but it got the job done so. Gokaiger 24 wow, this was a weird one. First off to my utter amazement, Jealoushitto's back. I forgot he didn't die. I honestly didn't think he'd come back though. There'd be no point. There still really isn't, but I still love this episode so far. The monster of the week was a bizarre...muppet tube worm cerberus thing. I liked how his Sugormin's method of spreading Zangyack propaganda was to violently jam pro-Zangyack poster into people's faces. Then there was the always valuable lesson in alien-prejudice. I liked how the monster of the week actually bothered to sit down for a moment and let Jealoushitto finish speaking. Man, I thought that the tone of this episdoe might've taken a 360 and Jealoushitto actually died, but nah I shoulda known better. The ending for this episode... Uh... Man, I dunno, I'm going to sleep! |
Quote:
His introduction as Insarn's friend from High School opens up so many weird questions about the social structure of the Zangyack. They go to traditional, Japanese-style high school? Okay, sure, I'll bite. Does that mean there are also Zangyack civilians who dress in business suits and have executive board meetings? Are there Zangyack telemarketers? Zangyack teenagers who work as "sandwich artists" at their equivalent of Subway? What are the Zangyack TV series like? I must know the answer to these questions! And the ending of this episode? Dude! It's the best. I guess Zangyack's Action Commanders and humans have... uh... compatible reproductive organs? And maybe also a way to circumvent human menopause? So strange. Side Question: Considering his introduction is in the Carranger tribute episode -- is Jealoushitto indicative of the sense of humor of that series? If so, I think I need to watch me some Carranger. |

Akibaranger Ep 2
Felt so bad for Akagi! I did enjoy Malshina behind that poladot cover though, Yes I did. And Mitsuki splitting the chairs.. and Mitsuki stretching.. I am a perverted old man. Loved this episode. And the first appearance of Isshtar, even if it didn't do much. Edit: I always forget something and don't remember until I post. I am loving Yellow's cosplay, More than a little freaked out though when her voice went baratone though. I had a Virgo moment :lol |
I just started gokiger during the break and im keeping up with weekly kyoryuger. Gokiger is of to a abit weird start. Also no basco yet and on ep 7. Odd I though he was the big bad or second in command.
