It made me want a full length Ryuki spin off with the Rider justice system too. That was so ridiculous it was awesome :D

Thanks, BTW, for shits and giggles I watched the Den-O episodes of Decade, and they weren't that bad, but I can deffinitely see where a lot of the complaints come from. For extra giggles I threw on the following Kabuto episode to see what powers he got from Den-O. It was kind of hilarious. The powers, that is. But he, uh, just got his ass kicked before moving on to another Rider. Well, it was still funny. (though one wonders why he insisted on using his magical cards instead of, I dunno, just using Den-O's weapons?)
|
The Den-O episodes were fun, and I liked the moments he tried to use the Den-O cards in Kabuto world.
But aside from brief moments, Decade really doesn't hold up from a narrative stand point. |
Those Hibiki eps were pretty good. Kind of sad, but I think I get the problem with Decade.
Decade himself is completely irrelevant. Yeah the story focuses on him, but he's not a great character from the five eps I watched and really just seems like a distraction from much better characters and stories. It's like we're watching a cool Den-O story or Hibiki story and some random pink dude running around turning people into shit. (which I felt really undercut the Hibiki ending. Granted the crab fight was epic, but it had just had such a solumn character moment and this truely moving passing of the torch with the little guy inheriting Hibiki's powers... and then he gets turned into a giant drum while, again, pink guy just kind of takes over) Also DiEnd is a total assbag, I can't believe the show tried to make us think he was anything else than a loathsome opportunist at the end. Also why did he summon Momo and why did Momo fight, then fade away and... what? One thing I really like about Decade: His fight music. I actually looked up the full song and damn, it's catchy. I really like it. |
Diend can summon other Riders and, while some (Like Momo) will mouth off to him, ultimately, they're just drones that do his fighting for him.
|
Oh, that makes sense. So I guess the joke is that even brainless concstruct Momo is a jackass. :lol
Also when it did the Hibiki kanji thing with Momo and a picture of a peach, I laughed. |
I think Momo is the only one who actually talks back when summoned...

So now Wizard is focusing much more on Koyomi while Shunpei and detective follow her around I'm not really enjoying the show as much. Seriously I thought this was 'Kamen Rider' these side characters have had more focus than Haruto so far.
While Koyomi's backstory is really interesting, I don't really find any of these characters particularly likeable, Koyomi needs a good smack and Shunpei needs his vocal cords removed. About the only side character I like is the Detective but even she doesn't really need to be there. Right now I'm only still going because the action sequences are fantastic and I think Haruto is really cool. |
I like Shunpei.
I'm not gonna be starting a Shunpei fanclub, but as a character, I like him. |

Shunpei is just a load. He adds nothing to the show and his absence wouldn't affect a single damn thing. |

Fourze at least established them fully before they all became worthless. Those are actually the best episodes of Fourze IMO, them getting the club together.

I know it's a Toku gag in itself but does Wizard really need to show the enemy in shot watching Wizard transform?
His transformations are pretty awful and clunky as it is, without seeing the villains awkwardly stood there waiting. |
Yeah, Wizard's henshin is kind of not good. It over-complicates a very basic motion. The series that came before actually had the driver change in some way, but he's just waving his hand over it in an awkward way before just sticking his arm out. It's weird.

It ruined his first fight with Phoenix, it ruined his last fight with Phoenix. And so much inbetween and after. |
Oh God. It's even worse than I thought.
Whoever thought a song was a good standby noise? A jingle ala Den-O I get. But a voice repeating a phrase, especially a dumb one, over and over? No dramatic henshins for Wizard, it seems. |

"You've almost killed all my friends... you drove Nozomi to despair... but I.... I WILL DEFEAT YOU!" SHABADOOBIE TOUCH TO HENSHIN! ... Yea. |
W and OOOs had pretty epic Henshins, but honestly? I may not care for the show, or the driver's attack noises, but Fourze's countdown was awesome. It was literally a countdown to the enemy's beatdown.
SREE... *breee* TWWO... *breee* HWONE! |

He did have an epic transformation, though. Even if I did hate his belt. |
I love Fourze's countdown. Was freaking sweet.

It's like CycloneJoker BEEDLEEDEEDEENERNEENERNEE/BAHM-DUN-DUN-DUN! You guy's don't do that? BTW, watching Black 5: Kamen Rider Black punches kids to save them. It's like the best of both sides! |
So I think I've been talked into from you guys to watch Fourze lol.

2). The problem with onomatopeia is that different people use different descriptions. For instance, I interpret CycloneJoker's henshin music as, "DEENA-NANA-NANANA/DUNDUN-DUN!" which is different from how you interpret it. |

I'm so glad I'm not alone in my dislike for Wizard's henshin.
I too hate the way it sings and shouts near gibberish in a gratuitous fashion, especially as largely, so far at least, the show has taken itself very seriously and it creates a really dramatic clash of tones. I also just think everything about the way his powers work is visually really awful, the constant switch flipping, hand swiping, ring changing is really clunky in itself but the actual I guess...animations for his transformations when he actives the powers is also really slow and like I say, I guess I can ignore it as it's a Toku trope but it's just odd how often the camera will have an enemy in frame while he is fumbling about with his rings and fiddling with his belt and the enemy is just awkwardly stood there waiting. |
