I don't see why they would need to take a break. Does Sentai every take a break? Do romantic comedies stop coming out just because 40 of them come out a year? Same goes for Will Ferrel movies, do they ever stop?
Also, you don't need to watch every film to understand what is going on. The Avengers films yes, because those are the pay off for watching every other film. They are like the big crossover event. Plus, Marvel has said they have everything planned out until at least 2028, so we're going to have them for a while. It's why I think it is time to give comic movies their own genre like we give dramas, action, comedy, horror, sci-fi, anime, family, Disney, etc. What I do think they need to do is start having new blood be the highlights. They don't have to kill characters off to do that, just make them more background ones for the nOObs. |

And like I said people aren't going to follow every single movie indefinitely burnout will eventually happen if the MCU doesn't get a refresh or the market gets flooded just like it has with every other movie fad in the past. It isn't just the MCU either I'm also concerned about Star Wars being a yearly thing too. All I'm saying is if Disney isn't careful they might crash the market by over saturation and as someone who likes these movies and Marvel,DC and Star Wars I don't want that to happen. So I'm more than a little wary of bringing a big group like the X-Men into the MCU when we already have a large cast. Super Hero movies are a genre as far as I know. |

This show already looks like it'd be way better than Ultimate at the very least. |
Last night I finished reading the Erik Larsen Spider-Man Omnibus and overall, it wa quite subpar. There were a couple of good stories in it such as one where Spidey and Punisher had to team up to take on a government drug facility, the stuff with Venom, Styx, and Stone, The Return of the Sinister Six story, and I highly enjoyed the two parter between Doctor Doom and The Fox. Everything else was pretty bad, but the worse was The REvenge of the Sinister Six story. That thing was a complete incohrent mess. Well first, I should start with the Beast story where MJ and Peter are arguing over if they had a kid they don't want it to be a mutant. That was completely insulting and very out of character for the couple.
However, the worse was how pissy they were with each other during the Sinister Six story all over a movie that MJ was going to have to have a nude scene. Peter was such a jackass to MJ during that bit. Oh yeah, the Sinister Six where in this thing. Most of them were also way out of character. Yes, they have killed before if people got in their way, but they were never the mass murderers Erik Larsen wrote them to be in this story, which just goes to show how the man has no idea who these characters even actually are. We also never actually saw what they did in the alternate dimension they went in, how they got their weapons, how they recruited Gog, and how they came out. The artwork was bad, really bad. In all of the Omnibuses for Spidey I have read over the last 12 months, never was the artwork these god awful. Addtionally, the layout to the panels were all over the place and sometimes you couldn't even tell what was going on in them. Everything was so ugly. Then we have Spidey with a robotic arm cast that is like 4 times bigger than it needed to be. Everything was so angsty for the sake of being angsty. If you asked me to recite the plot to this story, I couldn't tell you and I just read it. Stuff happened and that it, end of story. The last three issues in the book were stories from when they started Amazing's number run over for some reason. I wasn't reading Marvel by that point, so I have no idea who came up with this "brilliant" idea. Anyway, the first issue dealt with Brock's wife committing suicide and then Venom vowing revenge, only for him to not even show up in the next two issues, which had Smythe using mini Spider Slayers on Jameson and Peter. First, the Venom story makes no sense because Peter's costume is missing, so he goes to Aunt May's house to see if he has one left there and it ends up being his black suit? He burned that way back in issue 301 when he and MJ decided it was best for him to no longer wear it due to Venom. Oh, and MJ was apparentely killed in a plane crash or something. Well I know how this story ended up since I read Straczynski's run, but seriously? Who also at Marvel thought this was a good idea? Has Marvel made any good decisions after 1990 when it came to their comics? The Clone Saga, giving the X-Men generic leather jackets, turning Cyclops evil, One More Day, Brand New Day, killing Captain America, wiping out the Fantastic Four, turning Cap into a Hydra Agent, good god, how have they stayed in business for this long? Overall, I am done with this Omnibus and I am so happy I am done. I can not believe these were the comics I grew up on as they were borderline crap. I'm now looking over at my comic box wondering if I should just try to sell off the 90s comics I was planning to keep for nostalgic purposes because maybe I don't need them after all. With that said, now that I am out of Spider-Man Omnibuses to read (at the moment, not sure I really want to get The Clone Saga books anymore) it is time I move onto the Lee/Kirby run of Fantastic Four. |

I'm weird about Ghost Rider and I don't know why. I've had more exposure to Johnny Blaze and he is my favorite, but I've only read the Danny Ketch comics, yet, Robbie is the only version to have been done right in live action form.
|
Blaze is my fav, too, but being saddled with an actor that is well known for being a horrible actor and being paired with an awful script really ruined things.
I'm glad they got Robbie right. Anyway, AOS has switched from the GR story to one about LMDs and I'm just having Skrull flashbacks. "OMG! *Character* WAS ACTUALLY A SKRULL ALL ALONG!" "OMG! I HIT MY HEAD AND IT TURNED OUT THAT I WAS A SKRULL AND DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IT!" I'm glad they're making it clear to the audience who's an LMD and who isn't so there isn't an overflow of bullshit, but I'm still dulled by it. Anyway, Marvel has GR's rights back, and Sony is willing to not be complete assholes anymore. What if Marvel does it's 90's Fantastic Four team of GR, Hulk, Spidey, and Wolfy, but swap Wolvy for Iron Man? Could they make a film about that, perhaps? |

And totally random tangent but I kinda wanna see Shang-Chi on Netflix but with his recent red and black suit with the gold sneakers. And now that he can clone himself a la Naruto imagine the fight choreo they could pull off. |
No thanks. I hate the Power Pack.

Restricting Bernthal's portrayal of Punisher to Netflix only seems limiting personally. |
Two episodes down and I am LOVING Defenders.
|
I love how the lighting for each hero is mostly different. Matt's scene are red, Luke's yellow, Jessica's blue, Danny's green. They are technically a four-team sentai team at this rate. :lolol

Half way through Defenders and it's amazing. First two episodes are a little slow but the rest is really good so far.

What a god damn excellent show this was! We started watching it with the plan to watch four episodes tonight, and four tomorrow and ended up just watching all eight without a break. First off, holy shit, Jessica Jones was awesome here. I found her completely unlikable in her first season, but loved nearly every scene she was featured in in this show. All of her one liners were spot out and Ritter did a great job. I hope this is the Jessica we have in her next season as now I am looking forward to it.
Secondly, the chemistry between our main heroes was also phenomenal. Their banter across each other was hilarious and it was nice to see the group act like a bunch of misfits who don't get along, but ultimately decided to put aside their differences to save the city because that is what real heroes do. Next up, the fight choreography was top notch. Why couldn't it have been like this in Iron Fist? This is exactly what it should have been. Not to mention this show even made Danny a likable character too. My favorite fight scene is in the underground area of episode 8 when the camera just kept moving around and we got to see everyone get some great moves in without it feeling obnoxious. Of course, the first fight scene with all four was also great with its camera work. In fact, the cinematography was just top notch all around. I feel it was on par with what we got from Luke's season. On the downside, since we already know these characters, don't go in expecting the best character development of the franchise. It still has a lot of that, but since we already know who these characters are, they didn't waste time on origin stories and the like, which is the way it should have been. The same goes for the villains. We have already had three of the five seasons dealing with The Hand, so there is no Kingpin or Purple Man levels of development. Of course, Sigourney Weaver really steals the show whenever she is on camera, so it's not like we have mediocre villains like the movies tend to have. There is a lot of depth to her character. The only flaws I can think of include them not really telling us how Luke got out of jail, no costume for Iron Fist, and Colleen gets stuck as a background character for most of the show. Nevertheless, CW/WB/DC have A LOT to live up to with this year's crossover for their Flash/Arrowverse. This may also be my favorite Netflix season thus far. |
Seriously the lighting in Defenders. It is killing me. :lolol
|
Haven't seen Defenders yet due to lack of time but from what I hear, it's good but Sigourney's character didn't live up to the actress' reputation

Director Simon Kinberg has stated that Dark Phoenix will be "emotional, grounded & not too intergalactic."
http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/new...oenix#/slide/1 so FOX has missed the fucking point of an X-Men story YET AGAIN. |
The X-Men franchise is a joke.
I don't understand how people seem to think a story about MUTANTS who save the world can be grounded in reality. That defies the entire point. |

Please give Marvel their toys back. Stop dressing them up in motorcycle suits and call it a day. You know the whole period piece thing is great and all but I think it is safe to say despite First Class and DOFP being good for me and I was not too butthurt about Apocalypse, but they seemed to have royally stepped on the cow dung this time. |
I hope nobody here was really looking forward to The Inhumans.
early reviews have given it an approval rating of zero. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/ma...e_inhumans/s01 |

The New Mutants is a horror film. I think it looks okay, but it will probably end up being a dumb modern horror movie.
